"Why bust your butt completing challenges, grinding stuff, or testing your luck when you can download a lousy unlocker program and become a God of the game with two clicks? Respect, money, and women will just fall in your hands, and above it all, you will know that you have bested the hardest challenges the game developers could throw at you."

Maybe try doing something more productive than understanding why someone would cheat achievements, it's the same question as why someone would cheat in a game. Some people would found it fun to cheat, where others would say it's to easy and it's not fun, it's hard to tell exact reason why someone would give themselfs achievements without doing them the regular way, because everyone can have different reasons, maybe they found it fun, or maybe they are annoyed by the achievements or maybe they are trying to provoke people from their friend lists by spamming activity or maybe there isn't any reason to it just as i said.

And they do. And since I am a logic aficionado, I wanna understand why.

"They", not "I", I don't care about achievements I don't cheat them neither i'm not trying to get them like it's some kind of life accomplishment.

@empty, you are correct.

@2, and you are not. "Because I can" is not a valid reason.

i wouldnt even give l4d2 achievement hunting the time of day so obviously i take 'move onto something more meaningful'. you're correct on the lobby type though, but my argument still stands.

at it's core, it is still gathering 3 people to make your team, and then finding one to play against. the lobby type does not affect that aspect. if it happens that you can't find a team in matchmaking, you could easily just ask in the community forums for help with achievement hunting. not even that, but also just ask anyone you play with ingame during regular campaign or versus.

i'm sure that process would be much easier right now too, given the game is on sale and more people would be playing in general - so more opportunities.

Also I can't speak for everyone, some people might have different reasons to why they cheat achievements.

Don't expect a higher philosophy or something on a gaming platform to why people do certain things.
