wtf are community awards
first off, we need to know what the ♥♥♥♥ a community award is.

community awards give you the ability to spend steam points in order to put a permanent "well done" on someone's hard work, which is like telling someone in their face "you make cool stuff now make more so i can spam the link to it" or something along those lines.

But, of course from the name, community awards aren't some kind of generous donation to boost fame, if you're generous enough to grant someone a community award a badge will be given to both the recepient and you who hopefully didn't waste their steam points for some stupid knockoff reddit gold

the awards also have different tiers to them, from a simple "slow clap" to the fabled "take my points" award, they both cost and grant different amounts of points, depending on how much you invest into making someone's hard work not go unnoticed.

also, remember that people have to EARN these awards, you can award yourself if you're that desperate but it won't really allow you any steam points since awards always cost more than the amount of points then grant plus they take 14 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ days for you to actually get the points, but other than all the reddit gold comments if you want a saucy award then you have to earn the saucy award.
planning out how to get the awards
okay, if you want some serious cheddar, then you're gonna have to figure out how to get the best chance of convincing someone to shower you in steam points. Awards can be given to literally any contribution to anything steam related at all, comments, guides, artwork, workshop submissions, you name it. Now you have to decide which of all of your options will give you a higher chance of hitting gold.

First off, comments are not gonna get you anywhere, sure they can be assigned awards but you aren't gonna get anywhere since you actually have to COMMENT ON SOMETHING in order to get your award, and chances are, the award will probably go to the thing you commented on instead of your witty speech, and not to mention, most of the time comments can't even be assigned awards, so that's another minus.

but otherwise, your best choice is probably everything else, mostly guides since they are mostly made to help people unless it says something like "how to do the most basic function in the game", in that case, you're just trying to ask an idiot to solve a basic math equation.

workshop uploads also are quite high up on the list, but most of the time they demand professional coding or a really really really really cool contraption from you if they're gonna give you a chance at getting a dazzling shiny, but that's hard, and i'm going to assume you have no idea how to code.

So now your only choice is a steam artwork (or screenshot if you're feeling photographic) or a guide, and don't even get me started on begging for awards, remember, you need to EARN steam awards, noob.

(profiles can also get community awards but let's ignore that for now)
the hard part
now, you have to actually go out and create the guide or artwork, (i'm going to assume you know how to take screenshots) most game communities aren't easily impressed so you're gonna need to pour blood sweat and tears into your creation if you want at least someone to go "wow, someone made that." and even then it might get overtaken unfairly by some really unappealing screenshot that for some reason has like thousands of likes because people can't understand and comprehend true art.

what i'm trying to say here is that you're trying to impress an audience consisted entirely of people who will NOT hesitate to go "this needs to burn in hell".

Oh yeah, you'll also need to come up with an original idea, as if that wasn't already told to you like thousands of times.
judgement
once you've finally crafted your untoppable magnum opus, you just need to put it out so everyone can see it and pray it doesn't get torn to shreds by rude people who only go "this artwork sucks" before mass reporting it and making you look bad, i'm not even sure if this guide will get more than a "deep thoughts" award or something.

At this point the only thing left to do is pray and wait, and most of the time the most you'll get is only really 1 award, but that won't stop you... right?

at this point, you just rinse and repeat until you're finally satisfied with the points you've accumulated.
Maybe you'll get really lucky and you may even score a golden unicorn award (because back in my day, there was only like 9 choices for awards)
conclusion
so you've got yourself a trophy room and gazing upon those dazzling awards, but in the end, i believe it's mostly about perspective, because the sole purpose of games is entertainment, and you're just throwing that out the window by greedily trying to get a virtual currency. But hey, i won't complain, that's just how you choose to look at life.

So in conclusion, everyone is very hard to impress, art is very hard to achieve and it's a cruel world out there.

at least you have me to watch tell everyone that life is cruel.
