Getting Started.
You might ask yourself: ''well what do i have to do!?''

Don't worry, it's simple my dear friend

  • Click to the ITEMS button on the main menu
  • After that you might see something like this (note that the look may differ, it depends if you're using a custom GUI, on here you need to click the picture of the last class, the spy (you can recognize him by seeing which one of the characters has a tuxedo and mask
  • After that you should see a 3D model of that class, (in this case the spy), on here you have to make sure you have the INVIS WATCH which is on the third from the top item slot (note: due to the use of custom HUDs, the position of this slot may be slightly different) if you have a different weapon equipped on the third slot, don't worry! you can change it very simply, you just want to click it and your inventory will appear, just click the invis watch, now you just need to press the BACK button and you'lll be ready to start.
Joining a Game.
One of the most important steps is joining a game.

When you start up TF2, you'll want to decide how you want to play the game. To do this, press the green FIND A GAME button on the top of your screen, from here you can choose many fun gamemodes, such as:

  • Casual, this is the most commonly selected gamemode for playing TF2 you can choose what game type and map you want to play and after you choose you need to click on START SEARCH and you will be queued for gameplay. What map and game type you select doesn't matter for using the invis watch; any will suffice.

  • Competitive, this gamemode is the most similar to casual in terms of loose gameplay while changing the rules a bit to be more strict. In this gamemode, you play a ranked game with other players. In order to play this gamemode, you need to obtain a competitive pass. Due to the competitive nature of this gamemode, it is not advised for practicing the use of the invis watch.

  • Mann vs Machine, this is a cooperative gamemode where you get to fight against hordes of robots and attempt to stop them from exploding your base. The main draw of this gamemode is collecting credits and purchasing upgrades for your weapons. When you go to play Mann vs Machine, you are given the chance to select between Boot Camp or Mann Up mode, which while not differing in difficulty, Mann Up allows players to receive rewards at the end of a successful campaign, but requires a Tour of Duty ticket that can be purchased from the Mann Co store or obtained via trading. This specific gamemode may not be the best choice for practicing the invis watch, as spy is not one of the commonly used classes.

  • Community Servers, this button brings you to TF2's server browser from which you are able to search for servers by map and game mode. Community servers are mostly just like casual, but they can have custom maps and other elements, some of them are really fun i would really recommend playing on some of them on your free time. Due to the freedom some community servers provide, this is one of the best options for practicing using the invis watch. If you look hard enough, you might even find servers made specifically for that purpose!

  • Training, on training you can learn the basics of TF2 but we aren't here to talk about that today, on offline practice you can fight against bots, but it's not to be confused with mann vs machine, these bots act more like players and it plays more like a normal game of TF2, you can choose map, bot count and difficulty.

  • Create Server, on create server you can create your own TF2 servers, here you can choose maps, server name, player count and round time. This gamemode is usually used for creating private matches for testing mechanics or strategies. This is a good choice if you want to practice using the invis watch on your own time without any external distractions like players or objectives.

Using the Invis Watch.
Now for the moment of truth, this is the easiest part of the guide.

After your match finishes loading, the game will ask you to choose a team. Which team you decide to join doesn't really matter since this will work with either.

After that, you'll be asked to choose a class. You absolutely need to select Spy, just like how you did on the ITEMS menu. Alternatively, you can just press the 9 key on your keyboard.

After you spawn you might come to the realization that you are unable to select the invis watch by using the number keys as you would any other conventional weapon. This is because, as was just implied, the invis watch is not a conventional weapon. It is toggled on and off using the key mapped to secondary fire, which is right click by default (if you don't know what key it is bound to, check the keyboard section in your options). Do this, and voila! you'll be invisible to the opposite team!
Strategies and Alternatives
One of the biggest advantages that the invis watch grants is, of course, becoming invisible.

This is a very useful ability and can used in many ways, for example following enemies without them seeing you can wait for them to be distracted and backstab them, (note that you can't backstab while invisible) i wouldn't recommend doing this if they're on a group because you may be seen and killed. only do it when you're sure you can get away with it with no one seeing you

One of the biggest downsides youll notice off the bat is that the invis watch has a very limited use while it is toggled on, and only recharges while it is off or when you collect ammo boxes. This means you will want to use it sparingly. If you aren't a fan of this limit however, you can always use an alternative!

The most notable alternative is the cloak and dagger, which, while being more sensitive to touch, only depletes while you move (and notably quicker than the invis watch depletes idly) and will recharge when you are standing still.

Another alternative is the dead ringer which is not as the name suggests when compared to the invis watch. It works completely differently, and when toggled will not turn you invisible on the spot. It only activates when you take damage while holding it, giving you brief invincibility, speed, and invisibility, depleting its charge until enough time passes or you collect ammo.

All of the alternatives described are selected the same way the invis watch is, but because this guide wasn't made with these in mind, it will not go any further in depth than the above descriptions.
