On your adventures in dayz, you will start off on a beach, no loot, no gear. you will progress in your story gathering supplies, encountering other players and getting stronger and wiser.
you will probably hear or see stories of psychopaths roaming dayz or ,if you're lucky, even encounter one. one day, if you play for long enough, you will have all the gear you could ever need and will think, what now? the answer to this question will drive you crazy.

For me it started by thinking "you know what? i have everything i will ever need, lets go down to the coast and help out the freshspawns". this was the start of my spiral into madness. The first noob i met, i gave a bag of rice and we ran down the beach for a bit. eventually this guy ran off and i met other freshspawns, soon enough, i had an entire posse of them. soon this posse turned into a cult. i started threatening people "peace or chaos?" sometimes, if they awnsered peace i shot them, sometimes not. it was a 50-50 chance.

psychos in dayz tend to be quite experienced players. the world has driven them crazy, now they haunt dayz preying on noobs and other defenceless prey.

First of all, you are going to need the equipment. heres a list of things you will need

1. A mask - this is VERY important, look around for creepy masks, my personal favourite being the Dallas mask.

2. An axe- this is a phychos favourite weapon. if you cant find an axe, any big melee weapon will do.

3. A book- duh, you're not crazy unless you carry a book around with you.

4. A creepy note- you can write notes with a paper and pen, write something creative :D

5. Personality, skill and imagination.- i will cover this in more detail in the next section.

6. Handcuff's and some rotten food is very useful.



Psychos arent bandits!

Bandits are a plague, they dont have any skill or imagination, they hunt everyone and spare no one. Dont even start to think that phycopath's and bandit's are the same.

This is a very important part of becoming a dayz psychopath, you will need this to accomplish your psycho career.

Psycho's need to be unreliable, you need other players to be in fear or awe of you, constantly paranoid of your presence. Here are some good tips and techniques.

Walk- walking will freak people out, when i say this, i dont mean you have to walk on your journey from Electro the the North west airfield. but when there are other players around, you can start your act.

emotes (gestures etc.)- pointing is probably the most useful, stand inside a room pointing at the doorway, that will freak out anyone that walks in.

dont kill your victims (too soon)- play with them, handcuff them, ask them if their hungry, feed them rotten food (and antibiotics a bit later) rob them and put stuff in their inventory rather than take stuff, stalk them for a bit, then rob them again and take it all back out etc.

cults- form alliences with other phycho's, do things to make your cult individual e.g wear the same mask, perhaps your cult could worship some dayz God, and go around sacrificing or sparing other "non believers" (ordinary players) note dont kill everyone that becomes your victim, that makes you a bandit.

There are different varieties of psycho's in DayZ, and although every psychopath is different, many of them fall into certian categories.
This section will help you decide what psycho you want to be.

The slender-man stalker psycho

This type of psycho prefer's to remain unseen, sticking to shadows, constantly stalking its prey.
players will look round and see this psycho (in all its clown mask, and psycho axe glory) standing in the middle of the road, staring. This type should try not to be seen moving,and definitely not running.

The raving, never-shuts-up-or-makes-sense psycho

This psycopath could, at first, appear to be an ordinary player, But when engaging in conversation this psycho will start talking about a hidden cure, or the rise of the evil ones etc.

The sadistic psycho

This kind of psychopath is the one that resembles a bandit the most. The only aim of this psychopath is to spread fear or suffering to its prey, doing things such as attempt to break someones legs then leave them in a field somewhere, or handcuff someone and feed them disinfectant. This is where the difference of imagination becomes evident between a bandit and a psychopath, a bandit is much more likely to just shoot another player in the head and nick all their stuff, but this psychopath will make their victims death much more creative and prolonged.

Based on this you can now decide which psychopath best fits your personality.
