On the converting your new tracks to match audio media format of Ys VIII, you can refer to this guide. Basically Ys VIII & IX use Opus Tools to format their tracks, though Ys VIII does not need the loop description like IX as already controlled by "bgmtbl.tbl" file above.
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2645990058
You first need to modify the file name "bgmtbl.tbl" (in "text" folder within game installation path) which controls which music file to be loaded in certain scenarios and its loop values. Then the new music file you add in must match the format & sampling rate of current Ys VIII track.
That being said, while the music files in current version of Ys VIII is unencrypted (meaning you can play directly with media player and its media info, codecs is revealed), other files like ""bgmtbl.tbl" is still encrypted. To be able to modify it, you need the aids of Special K tool to extract (decrypt) and import (encrypt) it again after modification. If for reasons the SK cannot work with current version of the game, please try "previous_version" from the BETA.
Note: previous_version will have music tracks encrypted -> Use SK to import your new music.
On the 2. point and the "editing out" for anyone not much tech savvy:
As said in here, download paint.NET and get a plugin that includes smudge tool, everything searchable easily with google.
Then go search on file called "texpack" on the game files and on it open (create backup of them just in case) all files looking like this p000** and p002** (texture files with the guilty faces).
Then go for the smudge tool on effects and, on their faces, on the left corner, smudge carefully in a horizontal line to the left (from head to chin), basically just "pull" a bit with the smudge circle to the left.
Save all files after finishing each one and it should be fixed (it was for me).
