With galactic piracy on the rise many system clusters were seeking a new fast attack cruiser with not only the speed to pursue evasive pirate squadrons but the firepower to strike forward bases and organizing points. ARK Shipyards revealed the Akula in response to these threats and the response was outstanding. Orders immediately booked for a year and ARK is tentatively planning a larger follow-up to complement the line.
