The Problem
The #1 tip I can give you to make Fantasy Zone and Space Harrier easier is to shoot as fast as possible. The hold to shoot function that both games have is actually slower than rapidly tapping the button. That being said, rapidly tapping the button is really hard. I did that method on Space Harrier and I swear that game nearly gave me carpal tunnel. If we can shoot faster than rapid fire with rapid tapping, why does rapid fire even exist?

Well, apparently SEGA/RGG thought it was a good idea to make the rapid fire speed slower in the PC version of Fantasy Zone. I honestly have no idea why on earth they made that decision, but we can bring back the goold ol' fashioned Playstation fire rate with the use of turbo buttons.

If you've got a controller with a built in turbo function, go ahead and use that - it'll save you some time - but if not, you can create custom turbo buttons using Steam controller input. All you have to do is enable it, and then turn it off when you're done.
Step 1: Enabling Controller Configuration
The first thing you need to do is close the game if you have it open (you can't enable or disable controller configuration while a game is running).

Now, right click on Yakuza 0 in your library and open the Properties window. Under the General tab, set "Steam Input Per-Game Setting" to "Forced On".

Next, navigate to "Steam -> Settings" in the top left of the Steam client or similar method and navigate to the controller settings (it's near the bottom).

Click on the button that says "General Controller Settings" near the top. In the window that opens and potentially does some weird stuff to your monitors (thanks Valve) fill the checkbox next to the type of controller you're using.
Note: If you're using something like DS4Windows to use a Dualshock or other non-Xinput controller, you might want to check Xbox Configuration Support since your OS technically thinks you're using an Xbox controller.

You can go ahead and hit the Back button or close that window and move onto the next step.
Step 2: Going into Turbo Mode
If you go and look at Yakuza 0 in your Steam library now, you should see a "Controller Configuration" option under the banner image. If you don't make sure your controller is plugged in and turned on and you set Steam Input to "Forced On". You can also right click the game and go to "Manage -> Controller Configuration" to get there. Go ahead and click on that button.
Still working on that 100%

The Steam Controller Configurator should now pop up in a new window. To create a turbo button follow the steps below.
  1. Click on the bottom right button group (Y X B A buttons or Triangle Circle Square Cross on PS4)
  2. Click on the B button (Circle)
  3. Click on 'Show Activators' in the bottom right below the keyboard
  4. Set 'Hold To Repeat (Turbo)' to 'On'
  5. Drag the Repeat Rate slider all the way to the right
MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE

Now you are ready to game.

Note: If you want to enable turbo in Space Harrier (and you do) make your A Button (Cross) turbo with the same process.
Step 3: Becoming the Ultimate Gamer
With your turbo buttons enabled, open up Yakuza 0, go into the arcade, insert your 100¥, and hold down the fire button.

It's... beautiful.

The turbo rapid fire makes the game so much easier. Technically, the rapid fire we get from enabling turbo is a little bit faster than the PS4's, but if you really care you can lower the turbo speed.

With turbo enabled the game is basically on easy mode and you should be able to get to 100,000 points in no time!*

* Relative to how long it would take normally
Step 4: Disabling Turbo After Claiming Your Victory

After beating stage 4 and getting your delicious points and Completion List task checked off, you might want to disable turbo. All you have to do, is follow the steps previously mentioned, but just turn turbo mode off at the end. You should also probably set Yakuza 0's "Steam Input Per-Game Setting" back to "Use your global Steam Input settings" again in addition to going back into General Controller Settings and unchecking all the enabled controller types you checked earlier (unless you use Steam Input anyway).
Fantasy Zone Tips
You thought I was gonna teach you how to turn on easy mode and just leave you in the dust? Of course not! Let's look at a strategy for beating the game.

Fantasy Zone is basically just a janky bullet hell where your hitbox is the size of your sprite, so be careful about dodging bullets. You need to destroy the big spawner enemies scattered across the map. You can tell where they are and where you are by looking at the map at the bottom of your screen (red - key enemy still alive, white outline - you).

Use rapid fire to gun down all the enemies in your way, bombs are useless with turbo enabled.

Try and pick up the big coins that key enemies drop and scoop up as many boss coins as you can after clearing a level - you'll need them. Upon entering each level, buy the 7 way shot because its insanely powerful (you can also buy extra lives at the far right of the shop). The upgrade has a short lifetime though, so once you leave the shop, quickly gun down as many key enemies as you can, they should go down quickly. The shop balloon spawns semi-randomly but seems to have an increased spawn rate if you're picking up a lot of coins and killing a lot of enemies (it might be score related but I can't say).

To get 100,000 points you need to beat the 4th world boss.

How to kill each boss
World 1
Rapid fire into the mouth and dodge to the side when he attacks. You can only deal damage while the mouth is open, but you don't need a lot of hits, especially with turbo. Try to stay in the middle of the screen so you have room to dodge and watch out for leaves that loop back around from the left!

World 2
Stay in the middle of the screen and just rapid fire into him. Dodge the bullets raining from above, but watch out because the bullets can hide behind the environment for some godforsaken reason. Once you break all of the balls, you win. (DO NOT BRING LASER TO THIS FIGHT)

World 3
Try to get the 7 way shot and optionally a bomb upgrade for this one. You need to destroy the lasers on the front of the boss to win. He starts shooting from the top so start by shooting at the bottommost lasers and try to destroy them if you can, then retreat through his lasers to the top of the screen. If you have the 7 way shot, you can stay below him and just destroy the rest of his guns from below. If you don't, stay above him and drop bombs onto his lasers. If you're too slow he will start moving aggressively and eventually kill you.

World 4
Try to get the 7 way shot for this one and spend the rest of your money on lives and smart bombs. Your objective is to turn all the balls that form the arms red. Keep firing and concentrate on dodging bullets, eventually you will beat him if you keep dodging. Spam any smart bombs you have for extra damage.

If you're having any trouble, look up a video on the game to see how others have beaten it. Here's an amazing run of the game I used for reference when I beat it for the first time. This guide wouldn't be here without its help.

Space Harrier Tips
Space Harrier is significantly easier than Fantasy Zone, but still quite challenging. You'll get better as you play since the enemy and obstacle patterns stay mostly the same between runs. The strategy is to rapid fire ahead of you and avoid any and all obstacles. Moving in a circular pattern is usually your best bet for dodging. Try to kill as many enemies as you can without putting yourself in danger. If you kill too few enemies you will have to beat the World 4 boss, if you kill a lot of enemies though, you can get to 5 million points before you fight the World 4 boss. That being said, the World 4 boss is extremely easy most of the time.

Tips for clearing each world
World 1
Very easy and a great place to farm as many points as possible once you get good. To kill the boss, keep firing at him but focus on dodging his attacks. His head is the weakpoint and you can still hit it after he turns around. He will change color to indicate his remaining health.

World 2
Watch out for the unbreakable stone pillars at the end of the level. Try to kill the flying heads to make that part easier. To kill the boss you only need to destroy the head in the center that all of the flying 🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿 are protecting. Just keep shooting and dodging and eventually you'll kill it by accident.

World 3
Get ready to git gud. There is a lot of stuff flying at you so focus on dodging. The more enemies you kill the easier it becomes, but evading attacks should be your priority. The section with a hundred flying mushroom guys coming at you is kind of awful, but if you keep firing and moving in circles, you can get through it. The boss functions the same as the World 1 boss, but with two heads attacking you.

World 4
𝒜𝑒𝓈𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓉𝒾𝒸 level. YOU CANNOT BREAK THE ICOSAHEDRONS! Don't do what I did when I got there for the first time and fly into one like an ape. Dodge all the obstacles and rapid fire away. This level is extremely fast and requires really tight movement, so just concentrate on avoiding the 𝒶𝑒𝓈𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓉𝒾𝒸 street lamps and d20s. The bosses will literally disappear before you see them on screen if you rapid fire at them. Not much strategy there.

Bonus Level
You've already got your 5 million, but your objective in this bonus world is to just ride the dragon into the trees. Y'know how the game is about not hitting trees? Yeah, well this one is about hitting trees. Do your victory lap and be happy its over.
The End
I hope turbo buttons bring you as much joy as they brought me when I finally got 100,000 points in the arcade. Now that you have declared yourself the #1 gamer in Sotenbori, go and enjoy the rest of your serious crime drama.

...buuuut if you're looking for help on the rest of the game, I highly recommend Dashi's amazing 100% guide. If it wasn't there for me when I needed it, I would have given up on 100% long ago. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1667240702
Also, if you're looking for help on the Shogi minigame in particular, I have a guide on how to start an illegal AI dogfighting ring on your computer to speed up the task. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2269653264

Have a wonderful rest of your day and may we all pray that RGG never brings back the really hard minigame achievements.

For some reason this didn't work for me, I couldn't even find the right config place/tab to begin with, since the steam UI changed.

I would like to share with you the easy solution I came across, but keep in mind that I'm using an Xbox controller. Here's what I did:
- First, make sure that your initial controller configuration is saved (the one you're using right now, to play Y0).

- Go to the Y0 "manage" option (right click on its name) -> controller layout -> click on "current button layout" -> go to "community layouts" -> choose "Yakuza 0 (Xbox One) Fantasy Zone Turbo" -> make sure its applied -> go beat the shit out of fantasy zone -> after you're done, return to your initial controller config, if you wish to do so.

And here goes a tip for the third boss: buy wings and twin bomb. keep trying lads.

The turbo on PS4 was something that was added to that version. The PC version without turbo is the true arcade experience and it is totally doable. Just buy beam weapons and good engines, avoid killing unnecessary enemies and rush to the end.
The 7 way shot is totally useless unless you cheat using turbo like this guide mentions.

Couldn't find a good guide to activate turbo so had to try doing everything by manually tapping (was able to somehow complete space harrier)

After hours of playing and finally finding this guide was able to complete fantasy zone on the second try

Tbh I found Space Harrier much harder than Fantasy Zone, but I was able to beat both by farming up points in the areas I was good at. For example, the 3rd boss in Fantasy Zone I gave up on and instead when I was in level 1 just started shooting as many enemies as possible before I took out the final ship that you gotta shoot to progress to the next boss. I did this for both level 1 and 2 and 3 for a little bit, then when I reached about 90000 points I took out the 3rd boss's lasers with my bombs and then when I it killed me, my points carried over from my last death and I had 2 lives to spare. So, I managed to get my 100000 points on the 3rd boss stage without beating it. I did the exact same for Space harrier, made sure I hit as many enemies as possible and stayed shooting at the bosses for a longer time without killing them to rack up more points at the easier stages. Hope this might be helpful to some. I just got 100% completion yesterday YOU CAN DO IT!!!
