Performance Boost: Use your graphics card instead of integrated graphics
By Keavon
Some graphics cards may not work with Interstellar Marines by default. This means the game will run on your integrated graphics with poor performance. If you have a dedicated graphics card and the game runs slower than you'd expect, this guide may help you.

Introduction
Graphics cards may sometimes not work with Interstellar Marines by default. This means the game will run on your slow integrated graphics which will result in very bad performance. If you have a dedicated graphics card and the game runs much slower than expected, this may help you.

Please note...
  • This only applies to you if you have a dedicated graphics card
  • It's very possible your game is already using your graphics card, but it's an old graphics card. This guide won't work for everyone, so your mileage may vary.
  • If this doesn't work, turn off most or all of the image effects in the settings and turn your resolution down. You should also look into getting yourself a better graphics card if you use a desktop PC.
  • Be sure to keep your graphics card's drivers up to date! This is extremely important and it can help give you a big performance boost!

If it helps you, be sure to upvote this guide and leave a comment with your old and new framerate (tick Show Framerate in the game settings and refer to the number in the top right). If you know anyone who may have this problem too, even with games other than Interstellar Marines, be sure to send this to them.
AMD
  • Make sure Interstellar Marines isn't currently running.
  • Open the Catalyst Control Center (search for it in the Start menu if necessary)
  • Enable Advanced View under Preferences (below the close and minimize buttons)
  • Under Gaming in the left sidebar, click the 3D Application Settings entry
  • Under Application Settings to the right, click + Add and navigate to your game installation then pick InterstellarMarines.exe
  • You may need to hit Save at the bottom of the screen

Now start up Interstellar Marines and see if it made a difference.
NVIDIA
  • Make sure Interstellar Marines is not currently running.
  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel (search for it in the Start menu if necessary).
  • Under 3D Settings in the left sidebar, click the Manage 3D settings entry.
  • Go to the Program Settings tab.

  • Under 2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program select High performance NVIDIA processor from the dropdown menu.
    ˙
  • Under 3. Specify the settings for this program find Power management mode in the list and select Prefer maximum performance from the dropdown menu.
    ˙
  • Click Apply

Now start up Interstellar Marines and see if it made a difference.
Additional Troubleshooting (Windows Laptops)
If the above doesn't work on its own and you're using a laptop on Windows, you may need to set your computer to full power mode. Try the below options:

Click the battery icon in your system tray and set the power plan to High performance.

If you don't see that option, search for "power options" in the Start menu and select Power Options. You may need to click Show additional plans to show all options. Then select High performance.

Note that this will decrease your battery life. If this still doesn't help, return it back to its previous settings; this guide probably just won't work for you. If it does help and you care about battery life, remember to set it back when you are not gaming.
NVIDIA: Linux
Open the terminal and type:
nvidia-settings
  • Find the profiles section
  • Select the option to force the game to use your NVIDIA graphics card.

I don't have an Nvidia card at the moment so I can't help you, but try to look around and do what seems logical.

If the specs say it has dedicated graphics, figure out if it's AMD or Nvidia, then look for that respective control panel. If you don't find one, you should download the driver from the website then open it and do what this guide says.

Ok ty. My laptop was meant to have both the integrated Intel and the dedicated graphics card (which it never did the bleed in' liars) so it's always been hard to tell what to do with things like this.
