once solution could be 12% fruit, 6% veggie, and 27% nut. Crew won't get protein deficiency as long as they aren't skipping meals. Two of the big grow beds can grow 2 fruits, 1 veggie, and 7 nuts, which then feeds 5 crew.
As for bio matter and fertilizer. Each plant needs .1 fertilizer, so 10 large grow beds will go through 5 fertilizer every day. (or more) A composter gets through 4% of biomatter every hour, so 3.84 biomatter a day,
Another route is the algae with beer route. Algae is a bit toxic and once that accumulates crew will take an extra meal. But with beer they won't complain.
It's a bit intense to create the right policies (schedules, food composition, task preference, ship location preference for work, leisure, sleep) to essentially automate everyone and create an efficient and productive continuous operation.
I'm not as familiar with the current system of nutrition since I had been taking a break from Space Haven for a bit, but I do know that all sections of grow beds now seem to produce only one unit of food regardless of what you grow. I'm not sure exactly how much of each nutrient a crewmate needs, though the next time I start up again, I'll try and gather some data for an updated guide.
is there a benefit to having a food value of 150 with carbs, proteins, amino acids and what not in the green as opposed to a food quality of 100 with some yellow in protein?
Optimal nutrition with maximum food production at minimal cost to create quality continuous production seems like a significant advantage.

Linkage only matters specifically because you want to squeeze out as much power from your solar panels and batteries before burning energy rods in a generator. In an ideal situation, your generator would remain idle and not burn any energy rods until there was no energy left in your solar panels and batteries, at which point the generator would then activate. Unfortunately, it always runs if there's space in the generator for extra electricity, so you instead want to ensure that a generator's stored power is always higher than the amount it can produce.
