As proof of the possibility of a blank name recently, i've taken this screenshot, to be able to achieve this you need to copy the exact file search pathway in the next screenshot going to be shown, with your username replacing the blocked out spot in blue in the top.

Using this file pathway and user you chosen and entered in the pathway, depending on the user your on at the moment on your device, you can find THIS location on your folder, inside the blue unfilled circle, is the playerPrefs file inside the special folder.

1. Left-Click playerPrefs, then proceed to right click it and click rename.

2. Rename playerPrefs to playerPrefs.txt

3. Double click playerPrefs.txt and look over the name portion on the very left behind the lots of numbers.


4. Copy and paste the unicode character “ㅤ” (U+3164) over the name portion "Moony" or in your case something else. You can find this unicode character by searching it on your web browser or going here[www.compart.com].



5. Click the X on the top right of your txt.file menu, and save the file. Then left-click and right-click right after on the playerPrefs.txt file to go and click rename again, rename it to playerPrefs and save the file.

Once the file has been reverted back to its unknown state in this manner, your name will be invisible in-game. I recommend if you do this, everyone around you do this as well, so everyone focuses on the colors of crewmates for inspection rather than pointing names out on pure suspicion of someones personality, allowing for games that allow more mindgames and not just knowing your friends or the people you play with for a few rounds.

I found this through personal research and turning all the files to txt.files myself on my own time. Wondering how people had blank names before the patch I put research forward this way to see if it could be replicated. (personally I think it should just be a option in-game to hide names during gameplay or even in the lobby as well as a server setting)

1. Its not hacking, you're editing the personal preferences of your user, which is stored in-game.

2. You're just changing the options without the in-game controls.

3. You're able to have less limitations for specific custom "gamemodes" people make now.

4. If everyone was able to do it before, (which I hear was the reason clipboard was blocked from the game) then anyone whos able to do it isn't really at a disadvantage since they can choose to be nameless at any moment they choose to be.

5. The only advantage you get with nameless names is mostly from polus behind the satellite of the map, however there may be other things you can hide behind, otherwise people wont point at you for your personality if most people are nameless anyways, which I find to improve the mindgame feature of the game.

6. Honestly they should just make nameless names a option server-wise that makes everyones names invisible/colors randomized.

Blank names are seen as inappropriate names in alot of servers, or even the servers itself now as we speak, this has been a working method since the guide was made for awhile, but perhaps the devs saw this issue and went ahead and blacklisted the hex code as a legal name.
