GENERAL PRACTICE FOR THE AVERAGE DWARF
Don't call the drop pod until everyone is ready.

Don't take 2 resupplies unless someone says so, or you clearly need it more.

Don't take someone else's beer! You thieving scum!

Don't be inconsiderate when calling the Mule, someone might be trying to deposit a heavy object.

NEVER insult Karl lest ye smite yeself with ye foolish words.

Do watch for friendly fire!

Do be a friendly dwarf and salute your teammates! Rock and stone!

Do buy your teammates a beer, don't be a leaf lover.

Do have fun, DRG has a very friendly community, so be nice :)
CLASS SPECIFIC
ENGINEER
1) Always platform hard-to-reach resources so the Scout can get them.

2) Make it a habit to put up your Turret whenever there's going to be action. Noob engineers forget to put their turret down, thus not making use of an important part of their arsenal. I recommend one turret (twin turrets are also viable) with target prioritisation.

3) Take out swarms of grunts with your powerful secondary weapons. Breach cutter was nerfed in update 32, still a viable choice but I recommend the grenade launcher instead. Nuke is the best overclock, but watch out for the friendly fire.

SCOUT
1) One of your jobs is to use your grapple hook to get inconvenient resources, especially the ones that the Engineer platforms. You lack a bit of firepower so make up for it with gathering stuff. You should also be the one to go revive fallen friends if they're in a tricky spot.

2) Use your Flare Gun to light up the ceilings of big caves to see leeches, fossils, resources, gunk seeds, ETC.

3) Scouts typically have a longer range primary weapon, so you should snipe those aliens lurking at the other side of the cave.

GUNNER
1) Use your Zipline to make big gaps, cliffs or ravines more easy to traverse.

2) Because the Gunner has heavy weaponry, they should prioritise killing enemies over mining minerals. I recommend the Autocannon with the Carpet Bomber overclock for swarms and the Bulldog pistol for single targets.

3) Throw down a Shield for protection when reviving a friend.

DRILLER
1) It's your job to Drill out dirt/blocked tunnels, eggs, staircases, ETC.

2) At the end of a mission, if the terrain is difficult, drill a tunnel to the drop pod (And don't forget to mark it for your buddies). Remember to be efficient with your fuel and look at the 3D map so you don't miss shortcuts.

3) In some situations, (typically hazard 4 or higher) the driller can work with the engineer to make bunkers. This is a more advanced technique that can easily go wrong. (I'll make another guide for bunkers)

4) The drillers second secondary weapon, the Experimental Plasma Charger, is a very useful tool, I'll make another guide on how you can use the EPC to clear bad terrain, take out groups of enemies and even gather resources.

Only tip I can think of (forgot where I read this, but it's also applying if your game play is reaching apocalyptic levels of sucking). Play solo missions but turn off Bosco and no booster beers. Great motivator when you can fail a mission by being downed once. Keep doing single player 'permadeath' runs until you can finish consistently. Then pick ones with added hazards. After that go to Level 5 missions and repeat the process. Will see how well doing this helps.

Wait, no mention about C4 in the driller section?

Maybe this belongs in another guide, but here goes anyway.

As the Scout in an Escort mission, during the 2nd phase of the Homoran core, focus-shoot each boulder once with the M1000 (with +dmg everywhere possible in the build) to help the Gunner conserve ammo and not overkill boulders yourself. During the 4th phase, grapple to the pillars the Driller isn't going to to pickaxe them yourself, grapple back to repair. 1st and 3rd phases are the usual, mainly repair and shooting priority targets.

Nice, simple etiquette guide. :D Need more people to read this if they're too thick to figure it out themselves.

I agree except for the minerals one. I help collect people’s minerals all the time cause sometimes they can’t carry it all

My number one tip for my friends to not be "that dwarf" is "Don't play scout"

On a serious note, no one should run off ahead. (Scouts and drillers to a lesser extent)
No one should be dying unnecessarily. (Scout and fall damage)
No one should be solely focused on single target damage if no one else can cover swarm duty (Scouts tend to be high single target damage which makes them less useful if they can't pick off high value targets)
No one should be yoinking anyone else's material (unless asked, even though it's shared)
Abandon no dwarf (Scouts should be first to grab someone in a sticky situation)

@KillerByte thanks I didn't think of that. I suppose the few games I've been in where we created an "underground" bunker everyone was to sacred to go outside :-)

you forgot DONT BLOW UP YOUR ENTIRE FUCKING TEAM WITH SATCHEL CHARGE* tip for driller

@Tsumono, With second method you make a long kill tunnel that all the creeps pathfind to, easily killable, longer tunnel the better. When we wave over, you just walk out that tunnel all safe

Have found two ways to make "bunkers". One is when the asset you have to guard is next to a wall and you dig the "floor" and "wall" out a bit and have the Engineer build a roof. This leaves a smaller entrance to guard. Which can be useful if you need to quickly escape but also gives everyone on the team a chance to actually shoot something. The other method involves digging below the asset creating a shaft. Everyone on the team jumps down and the Engineer plugs the shaft. You also can dig a small pocket for everyone to stand in. Problem with this second strategy is eventually everyone has to go outside. And there will a lot of creeps waiting ! Not sure what will happen if a "big explodey boy" or Dreadnought spawns though. They seem to have the ability to come after you through solid rock.
