How to Choose Jobs
Job refreshing is only 100 gold, and you can delete any job you don't want anytime so it is pretty convenient at the job selection phase. But as you pass the early stages of the game, you will meet the real problem of jobs, that is constantly selecting new jobs and refreshing. Kinda only part that gives you an active gameplay in TR, but in reality it is just clicking through the endless job lists.

Not every job deserves our attraction, so I will just show you which ones are better, so, at least, you don't waste time at trying useless jobs.

In my understanding, it is good to group jobs into four kind:
  1. Ones that give money.
  2. Lance, Accountant - effects passenger fares
  3. Sofia, Mechanic - effects speed
  4. Hank, Track Inspector - effects cargo drop

How to Distribute Jobs
Same person's different jobs increase in value by same events, so distribution of jobs is an important task. If you have ten jobs all for Lance, and all of them same kind (e.g Visit 10 cities), when you visit one city, all ten jobs will increase by 1. But since you didn't give any jobs for Sofia or Hank, they will stay same all the time.

I want to level them equally, because till now I don't know which one to focus more(Need more insights on this). Lance is nice for more income, Sofia is nice for extra speed, more income, Hank is nice, because I like cargo (personal).
To make all of them level equally, I distribute the jobs like this at the beginning:
  • 2 Sofia - (1 Sofia interchangable with 1000km for 5000 gold)
  • 4 Hank
  • 4 Lance

At the begining Hank doesn't get enough JPs. Lance is kinda OK. And Sofia will always be the quickest to get 1 JP. She just needs lots of job page refreshes. And the gold boost helps a lot at the beginning. I usually click it if I can't find Sofia immediately.

Mid-game:
  • 1 Sofia
  • 2 Hank
  • 7 Lance

For Hank and Lance, you gotta find a balance. As Hank levels up it becomes easier for him to earn JPs, so you can reduce him to 2-3 jobs,

I don't have Late-game yet. Would appreciate more insights from fellow trainpreneurs.

Different Job Types
Money jobs
No need for them, you earn money far more quicker normal way. No need to distract yourself with these. And you can get job points instead of this. (Come to think of it, I never really tried them out for myself. JPs always felt more efficient. Maybe these are also good, dunno, let me know if they are)

Only exception to this is 1000 km for 5000 golds. This is pretty good if you need some quick money.

Lance Jobs
We have two kinds of jobs:
  1. Collect some amount of money at some region
  2. Go to some number of cities
Don't do the first kind. It is region locked, it takes lots of time to finish, and job points some times doesn't scale up. Collecting 500,000 golds for 1 JP is the definition of betrayal. No need.

You can do any of the second kind. 10 cities give 1 JP, 20 cities give 2, and 30 cities give 3 JP. No tricks, just normal scaling. My only tip here is that if you get 30 cities, it will take more time to renew the job again. Do it if you can, but don't try to find for 20 refreshes.

Sofia Jobs
Sofia has 2 kinds of jobs.
  1. Reach to some speed.
  2. Travel some distance.
You can reach the job speeds at the beginning of the game. But as you reach to the speed cap, her requirements for speed becomes ridiculous so don't bother with that.

For the distance, I don't know why, for all 1000, 2500, and 5000 km distances, she give 1 JP. So find the 1000, do it over and over and over again. You gonna refresh that job list a lot.

Hank Jobs
Hank has 3 kinds of jobs.
  1. Clear tracks from obstruction
  2. Clear tracks from specific obstruction
  3. Collect cargo from obstructions
By far, the third one is advantageous.

Clear tracks from specific obstruction is random. If job is asking boulder and you get tree, then sorry for you.

Clear tracks from obstruction counts toward the goal one by one. It takes ages to finish one job.

Collect cargo on the other hand starts by taking half the time of 1st kind, then it slowly shortens the time as Hank levels. Let's say you leveled Hank to 4, it gives 5 cargo for each obstruction, at 7 obstructions you would get 5 JP. If you did 1st kind, you still need to do 35 obstructions for 5 JP. So do 3rd kind.

There is one more tip here. Don't get the 3 JP for 25 cargo jobs or 1 JP for 10 cargo jobs. 5 JP for 35 cargo is the best value here. Let's say you want to collect 15 JPs. With the last one, you only need 105 cargoes from obstructions. 3 JP jobs would require 125 cargoes and 1 JP requires 150 cargoes. So, math. Go for 5JP.
Notes
  • This game changes a lot, so some of the stuff above might change next week from the publishing day. Sorry if I sent you to the opposite direction because of these.

  • Also if I feel bored and productive enough at the same time, I might continue adding to these. I am a functioning procrastinator. Sorry if you feel this guide is not enough.

  • I guess I apologize a lot, maybe that is because some early childhood mental trauma. Don't know, but sorry if you got offended by my apologies.

  • If you have any contribution to these tips, that would be awesome. I don't mean to say I know every bit of this pixely game. Haven't even finished train upgrades. But I do enjoy playing it. Or letting it play at the background.
