How to get the most out of your Crops
Af jpd71
Crops are one of the most essential in Stardew Valley. Crops are actually the things they give you the most tasks. Tasks like making money, tasks for the townspeople, and the community center. This guide will show you how to get the most out of your crops

Different Catigories
You can make the most out of your crops in more than one way. The first way it will be talked about is the Money Aspect, The second way will be the Speed Aspect, and the third way will be The Overlook.
The Money Aspect
If you're looking for big profit, this is the place you need to be reading. In Stardew Valley big profit means big pay. If you want a lot of money you’ll need to purchase crops that are at a high price. The crops with a higher price sell for much more than lower priced crops. For example, crops like melons, pumpkins, and cauliflower seeds cost a lot of gold but they sell for a lot of money so it is definitely worth it. But don’t use all your money, that will come into play later.

But if you really want to make a lot of money, get nine or more melons, pumpkins, or cauliflower seeds and place them in a 3x3. It may take longer than expected but it will produce a giant melon, pumpkin, or cauliflower. It is very worth it because the giant crop will drop many more crops than what you bought.

(Tip) Try looking at Jojo mart and pierre’s shop for the same crops because the same crops can have different prices. For example, pumpkins sell at a high price but they are a lot to pay for in Pierre's store. Jojo mart might have pumpkins for a cheaper price but still sell at a high price.

Now to fertilizer

Fertilizer will be extremely important for raking in all that cash. Quality fertilizer is the one to be using. What quality fertilizer does is it increases the chance of the crop to have a silver or gold star. The silver and gold stars allow you to sell your crops at a higher price. It is just a lot better than normal fertilizer. Quality fertilizer goes for 10 gold a piece or can be made from one fish and two sap. Save gold to buy these before spending all your money on crops.

Moving on, scarecrows help so much with this plan. Sometimes a crow takes one of your crops, that’s an important amount of money it is basically being taken away from you. Even if it is only one crop, it is still money. Just place scarecrows so none of your hard earned and cared for crops go to waste. Every crop counts!

The Speed Aspect
If you just want some quick cash, you should read this section. Crops with reproducing crops would be the best crop for this. For example, Strawberries, Blueberries, and Corn are reproducing crops. Reproducing crops are crops that keep growing and grow quicker after their first main growing stage.

Now to fertilizer (again)

This fertilizer is different than normal. This fertilizer is called Speed-Gro and it has different effects than the normal one. The fertilizer speeds up the growth stage of all crops. Deluxe Speed-Gro just makes it even faster than normal Speed-Gro. (simple stuff)

Next up, sprinklers
If you want to just let the plants do their things, well sprinklers are what you need. Sprinklers will let you do what you want while your plants grow without you even touching them. This is the speed section so just pick up any sprinkler you find. But just get a decent sprinkler or two

Now the crops

This part is pretty obvious but can easily be forgotten. Certain crops have a faster growth rate than others. For example, parsnips take four days to grow while potatoes take 6 days to grow. But reproducing crops are in an odd spot. Reproducing crops should be planted ahead of time because they make very good money and they grow quicker when they actually start reproducing.

Moving On

Sorry if you were expecting a bigger section for The Speed Aspect. The Speed Aspect is just simple and there is not a lot to talk about. But now on to the next section.
The Overlook Aspect
This section will name some crops that I think are some of the best to use in the Money and Speed Aspect.

-Parsnips, they are cheap and quick to produce (Price: 25g) (Sell: around 40g)

-Wheat Seeds, buy them for 10g, sell them for 31g

-Pepper Seeds, take 5 days to grow and have regrowths every 3 days (Price: 40g) (Sell: around 50g)

-Pumpkins, buy high, sell higher (Price: 100g) (Sell around 400g)

-Melons and Cauliflower, same reason as pumpkins (Cauliflower Price: 80g) (Cauliflower Sell: Around 200g) and (Melon Price: 80g) (Melon Sell: Around 300g)

-Artichoke Seeds, very cheap and very worth it (Price 30g) (Sell: Around 150)

-Beet Seeds, very cheap and very worth it just like the Artichoke seeds (Price: 20) (Sell: Around 125)

Those are just some of them but there are a lot more.
Thank you for reading this guide, I think it was my longest one so far!

Quality fertilizer is often a trap.

This is a small Excel file i used to analyze crops.

If it's too confusing (i didn't put explanations there, so it propably is) just do this:
Start with parsnips -> 3-4 harvests, then do kale (best XP with good watering to profit ratio (almost the same as Cauliflower, only 5% weaker)).
With summer you should have sprinklers so it's coffee (only drops from mines) and blueberry.
Without sprinklers melons are propably your best bet (because you will have chance for GIANT crop), as they are every good input for jars and kegs (jars create less profit, but can process more fruits).

Then you can do watever you want, you should have enough money. If not, make wheat for beer, and pumpkins.

good guide. selling direct crops is also made easy by junimo huts / sprinkler placement, so for mid-late game farm where you dont want to do a lot of work, but still want to get good income, direct selling crop is the least effort- still allows player leave the farm and reap the rewards constantly.

keg / coffee / preserve jar/cask methods may offer meta returns per day spent but very grindy and demands a lot of work from the player.

coffee is by far the best way to get money
you get coffee beans every 2 days
each crop drops like 6
5 turns into coffee in a couple in game hours
coffee sells for 150

@8thSeaofRyhe, I would say that your statement is somewhat true but that is really only at the start. When you have a big, efficient farm and know how to use it then you will be a good source of profit. And when you fo have those big farms, you can turn some crops into wine like you said.

Crops give pathetic profit.
Turn'em into wine. Starfruit from Sandy's is the best for this.
