Unfortunately, SFM is an old 32 bit program that hasn't seen an update since about 2015, so there could be any number of reasons why these files sometimes seem to just randomly corrupt.
I have the best luck by trying to keep my scenes as simple and uncomplicated as possible.
This doesn't guarantee that the .dmx won't corrupt, but it does seem to corrupt a lot less.
When I animate, I do it in stages.
Scenebuild as needed.
Animate characters.
Add props.
Setup lighting.
Animate cameras as needed.
Add music and sound effects.
Done.
This doesn't prevent any chance of corruption at all, but it does tend to minimize it.
