Hopefully my explanation helps.
I think it stands out for me because my regional accent really chews our syllables, so i say the two words differently.
So I say:
Your = yor
You're = yoo-ur (almost two syllables, but not quite)
If you substitute all the "you're" in the article for "your" then it is all set.
"your" = Denotes possession. Specifies that something belongs to (or is related to) the person you are speaking to (2nd person).
e.g. "Your socks look good."
"you're" = Contraction for "you are"
e.g. "You're going the wrong way."
To make is easily correct the rule of thumb is:
"You're" is only for speaking or quoting what somebody said out-loud, because it is for saving syllables in natural speech.
When writing, always write "you are" if you mean "you are" and never write “you’re”.
