Fixing Multiplayer
I just updated this to also include Hamachi instructions down at the bottom. This guide is for hosting a server in game and having your friends connect via steam.

I only got this game for multiplayer. I struggled for a little to get it working. People who want to get multiplayer working should read this to save yourself trouble. You must follow this entire thing to get it working - it's super simple-ish. I will help you <3.

1. Multiplayer Overview

The devs have stated multiplayer is definitely in alpha state. The only game breaking thing I have found is that when you teleport to other islands your frames will drop to 10-15 FPS. Super easy to fix, run to an open area, save your game, and restart your game completely (that means close it silly). I say run to an open area before quitting because the first time I did this I ended up below the entire world. Thankfully you can swim out from the terrain and play normally again.

2. cracks fingers To get multiplayer working follow me - ONLY THE HOST NEEDS TO DO THIS!

You need to port forward. I figured all of this out in like 30 minutes but I had some general knowledge of how to do it before and I'm stubborn as hell (thanks mom!)

I know people don't read on the internet so I will say this again - ONLY THE HOST NEEDS TO DO THIS!

1. Run command prompt (windows search "cmd", run Command Prompt) 2. Type "ipconfig", hit enter 3. Scroll down till you see the "IPv4 Address" and copy those numbers down (example: 192.168.1.47) - DONT CLOSE THIS WINDOW YET! 4. This is your computers IP address and we will use this later, keep this window open and... 5. Look for the entry "Default Gateway ........ ##############" 6. You should see a bunch of letters numbers. What is important is the numbers that look like this "192.168.1.1" 7. This is your router's IP address Take a deep breath... exhale... and let's continue... 8. Open up your internet browser 9. Type your router's IP address in the URL bar (mine is 192.168.1.1), hit enter 10. You will get a warning that says "THIS SITE IS NOT SAFE" ooooOoOOo spooky, not really, click the "more options" at the bottom of that warning and then click "Continue" or "Proceed" 11. Typical username/password for a router is something like admin/admin or admin/password 12. Once you log in, this is where you'll need to click around the menus to find what you are looking for. All routers are different. 13. You may also need to set the control panel to "Advanced" so you can see "Router Settings" or "Access Control" -- for me, my "Port Forwarding" was under " Access Control" 14. Add a new rule under "Port Forwarding" that is like so: Give it some name "OMG IM DOING IT MOM - Craftopia" External Host: leave this blank Internal host: this your IPv4 address from #3 Protocol: TCP External Port: 8787-8790 Internal Port: 8787-8790 anddddd one more time we're going to celebrate unc unc unc 15. We add another rule... Give it some name "Again? ugh...Craftopia" External Host: leave this blank Internal host: this your IPv4 address from #3 THIS ONES DIFFERENT >>> Protocol: UDP <<< External Port: 8787-8790 Internal Port: 8787-8790 16. Save / Apply / Whatever

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we did it - I mean I did it, you just copied me. Jerk. Your nerd friends can now join you and you can all nerd out together!... nerd

Hoped this helped.

Edit

You can also use hamachi which is much simpler (but you all need to download it).

1. Everyone installs hamachi
2. Create accounts
3. One person create a hamachi room
4. Give hamachi room info to friends\
5. Everyone connects to the Hamachi room
6. Host game in Craftopia
7. Invite friends

Assuming everything is setup right, would this mean you could also crossplay with xbox? Since xbox is crossplay with Win10 already.

And what about Steam workshop? I assume that wouldn't work very well if at all, but I figured I would ask since I currently have no way of testing it myself.

My dude, thats just your own PC's IP on a router. Literally everyone almost always has the same router IP. When you use IPCONFIG in CMD, the IPv4 is from your router. It's a LOCAL IP. Not your internet IP.

192.168.0.1
192.168.1.1

are some of the most common router IP's ever. Millions have that same router IP. That's basic router knowledge everyone who owns a modem/router should know.

@Fuzzy

This is for connecting via steam. I have updated it for you. I have also updated for hamachi!

I use my provider's router as well - Spectrum. I couldn't do this until I made sure I was in the advanced mode.

TCP/UDP in one port should work I believe.

So this guide is all well and good, but you do not explain what version of Multiplayer this is for. Is this for connecting via STEAM? Is this for Hosting your own server (Im almost positive this is this is for) Another tid bit, people have a lot of different types of routers. This seems all well and good if you have your own type of router, but if you're like me I use my providers. I'm familiar with how port forwarding goes, and I do not have the option for step 14-15. I have the option to open ports but not to this extent. Anyway, I assume that steps 14-16 can also be accomplished using a said TCP/UDP connection without having to open 2 different sets of ports? i.e step 14 shows opening a TCP port and then 15 is a UDP ports, I have the ability to open both a tcp/udp in one port. I believe this shouldn't effect the outcome, but could be wrong. Any thoughts on this?
