isn't there already a guide for this? (and general guide info)
yes but it still took me awhile following the directions to find the treasure, some of the map markers weren't accurate either, so I figured I would take my own screenshots and put together a more in depth guide that would be easier to follow.
also, video guides tend to be troublesome while running the game, so this is all image files and text.

the most basic tip for finding dig sites is to look for a mound of dirt colored similarly to the ground but with a lot of small rocks studding the surface, the prompt to collect the treasure will show up, and most will be very easy to find. I decided to add some extra notes for the ones I personally had trouble spotting.

the forest and savage divide sctions actually hit the word limit so I couldn't be as verbose, because pasting the image file links all count as text characters and there is a bunch of them. it's especially a problem because the palace of the winding path and the monorail elevator treasure spots can be very hard to see. the palace digsite is easier to find if you look for some raider junk leading from the buildings to a very gradual sloped path down towards the broken tree to the northwest. the monorail elevator by savage divide 7 is easier to get to from south mountain lookout to the west, but you will still have to find a way to drop halfway down the cliff safely without missing the cliffside section where the digsite is.

a mistake I often make when searching for treasure is not going back to scrap or sell things I picked up from the sites, many contain heavy weapons and armor. my weapon is also damaged because those explosive legendaries tend to break faster than normal.

a perfect example of how to find these treasure mounds if you don't know what to look for.

the mound will be under this bridge leading into point pleasant.

the crosshair is pointing right at the treasure. don't see it yet? hold on while we get closer.

pointing right at it still but it can be hard to see if you don't know what to look for.

notice how the seams from the edge of the dirt mound stick out from the rest of the ground. the mound also tends to be made of very loose looking dirt and small rocks.

I just cleared about 20 maps in a half hour with this guide. Mainly thanks to the screencaps of the game map but also the screencaps of the exact dirt mounds!
