Many people here may be new or recently returning players.

I know being offered a free boosted character is enticing... but it's best to hold off.

Think twice (10 times) before using the free character boost you get that allows you to make a lvl 70 character. Before 7.0 it would allow you to chose between a lvl 70 or 60 (starting at KotFE), but this option is no-longer available.


Instead, I highly suggest you instead use the bottom option and enjoy the whole story from the beginning.

• Some things might give you more, but it says how many you have on your character select screen.
  
  
• Prior to 7.0 this token also allowed you to make a lvl 60 that started at KotFE; this is no-longer the case.

The created character starts the story at the level-appropriate point. It auto completes all previous story (except Makeb).

• making a 70 using this boost skips all the way to the red part (6.0 starting on Ossus) all the way at the bottom
  
• Skipping story also means skipping titles and items earned in the stories.
  
• titles include stuff like Darth, Padawan, Jedi Knight, etc, and there's no other way to get these titles.
  
• some stories give you unique items; weapons, masks, etc that can't be gotten any other way. These are (endgame-wise) mostly cosmetic, but still be warned of this.
  
• any choices you needed to make in previous content will be auto-made for you. Your character won't feel like your own, and NPC's may mention things you did that you wouldn't have, etc.

This item, unlike the boost token levels-up an already-made toon of any level to 80 without skipping any story. This is only purchasable on the CM or GTN (for a lot of credits); never given free the way the tokens above are.

When checking if you can get it back, clicking 'delete toon' will show this message

• Before you confirm the deletion (typing delete) if your token will be refunded or not.
  
• Basically, this lets you undo an appearance mistake or test a class out if you spam escape to go to fleet, where there are test dummies, but not much else
  
• The restriction was far more lenient at first, but people abused the previous "can't level up" version to farm things and credits (so now we have this super restrictive version - sorry).
  
• This also prevents you from getting the class boosts for your characters and the heroic moment abilities (IIRC).

• This is a game of alts; you will have plenty of use for these later to make another alt for conquest, operations, pvp or w/e
  
• hopefully after you've already done the story on a different one, and know the class or its mirror so you're not overwhelmed with 30 abilities
  
• Leveling is fast. Just doing the story will keep you leveled. You can also level via flashpoints, heroics, or many other ways in a short amount of time.
  
• The vanilla (white part of that flowchart linked earlier) story is usually thought of as the best and most interesting; don't rob yourself of it.
  
• Many people will level up so they can do endgame, then do story at their leisure while in queue for other content. Not doing story doesn't lock you out of anything once you get your ship (end of capital world; Cor or DK depending on faction)... which is only necessary for flagship summons and going to a few specific places.
