Introduction

Hello there, this is a short and simple guide is for those who are new to the game and just finished their class story and are wondering what to do next. If you’ve subscribed to the game, then this guide is for you. If you’ve already subscribed to the game and finished all story content (expansions, etc.), then you can skip over to the Gearing section of the guide.
Expansions

Expansions come after the class story, and unlike the class story, all classes can do them. The expansions can be done in any order but there is a proper order. If you don’t follow the order, the previous expansions will be skipped and all the choices you would make in the previous expansions will be made for you (default choices).

Proper Order of Story:
- Rise of the Hutt Cartel
- Shadow of Revan
- Knights of The Fallen Empire
- Knights of The Eternal Throne
- War For Iokath
- Fractured Alliances
- Jedi Under Siege
- Onslaught

You can access expansions through a mission console located on your ship.
Gearing

After you’ve finished all story content in the game (class story & expansions), then you should start worrying about gearing. Gearing nowadays isn’t as hard as it used to be before the 6.0 update. Basically there’s item ratings, the maximum being 306. Getting to 306 is very easy but time consuming depending on how you do it. Most people start doing veteran mode flashpoints via the group finder, but if you know what to do I suggest master mode flashpoints (get better gear faster) but depending on what role you play (Damage, Heal, or Tank), the queues differ. Damage queues are extremely long and can take up to half an hour or even more, so if you’re damage I suggest sticking to veteran mode flashpoints.

Once you get to iR 306, then it’s time to start worrying about tacticals and set bonuses, each class and discipline generally has a tactical specific for it (with a few exceptions). For example, a Virulence Sniper would have a different tactical from an Engineering Sniper (same with set bonuses). Set bonuses and tacticals can change gameplay quite a bit, and they always increase your effectiveness.

The last thing you should take a look at once you have set bonuses and tacticals out of the way are amplifiers. Amplifiers are once again specific to class and discipline, but there’s a difference. Amplifiers increase a certain effect, e.g. the periodic intensity amplifier increases the damage done by DOTs. The annoying part about amplifiers is that they cost money to change (recalibrate) and the cost increases each time, the amplifier you get is all based on chance.

There are many more in-depth guides about stats and such to do with gearing, so I suggest you take a look at those for a proper explanation. What tacticals and sets to use are generally in guides for class disciplines.
Money

If you’re not interested in money, then you should skip over to the next part of the guide. Credits, a very important but not so important thing in the game. If you’re interested in getting rich and being able to buy what you want in the game, there’s a few ways to do so. The more popular way to getting rich is crafting. Another way to get credits is buying items from the cartel market and selling them for credits. However, the two easiest ways to getting credits are: a)Heroics: Planetary heroics are short missions that give you credits upon completion. Doing heroics is the simplest way to get enough money to get by. b) Guild Conquest: Conquest rewards at max level generally give you stuff that’s worth selling, mainly encryptions and solid resource matrixes.
Endgame Content

There’s a lot of endgame content in SWTOR. Flashpoints, operations/raids, uprisings, pvp warzones, etc. There’s definitely lots to choose from.

- Operations (aka raids/ops): Long, complex missions with multiple bosses and proper strategy, puzzles, and much more that take 8-16 people to complete. Typical group composition is 4 Damage, 2 Tanks, and 2 Healers. They’re available at 3 different difficulties, story mode (known as SM), veteran (known as HM), and master mode (known as Nightmare mode or NiM).
- Flashpoints: Like operations, but much shorter and generally easier. Also available at 3 difficulties with only the hardest requiring proper group composition.
- Uprisings: Very short, fast-paced missions, done with a 4-man group.
- Warzones: Head to head PvP. There’s multiple kinds of warzones.

Note on Gearing:
By level 75, you should keep track of your gear, stats, etc. There's more in depth guides for those but basically, your Alacrity should be 1213, Accuracy should be around 1598, Critical should be around 3000, Power should be around 9900, and Mastery should be around 12000.
Keep in mind that Power and Mastery are scaled down in most content (i.e. operations, flashpoints, etc.) so, if you don't plan on doing Nightmare (hard mode) operations and such, don't worry too much about Power and Mastery.
Now, to get to the maximum Item Rating (currently 306), I recommend doing veteran, or master mode flashpoints, and equipping any drop with a higher item rating than your current gear, until you eventually reach 306. Then, you should start worrying about stats and augments.
Another thing to note is that it's unlikely that you'll reach these stats without the use of augments (MK-11). Augments can be crafted, or purchased on the GTN. If you're on a budget (in-game), 276iR augments will do (---- Augment 73).

This is just a basic run-down of endgame gearing in general, if you're looking for more in-depth information on gearing, there's plenty of guides out there.

Good luck!

PunkSteve, the game will naturally herd you into the correct expansions at the right time. I didn't realize I was even doing expansion content till I hit the Shadow of Revan Prologue. Also the Missions Console will ALWAYS show you which quest belongs to what expansions and whether or not it will actually trigger the expansion

Nice info, thanks. :ss13ok::cybereye:
Can u tell me what planets the expansions start on please.
I'm only on chapter 1 of Smuggler (1st playthrough), so expansions won't be for a while, but i don't want to go to an expansion planet to early in the storyline.

I found this list online:

"So, in order to not skip anything you should do all of the below:
- you class mission until end of chapter 3
- all planetary main missions
- all companion talks and all companion missions
- Belsavis bonus series
- Ilum
- Makeb
- Forged Alliances
- Shadow of Revan
- Ziost
as far as I know, these are the things that will not be available anymore, once you start with KotFE."

Is this the correct order to go through the storyline properly?
I'm only up to ch.01 Nar Shaddaa but i already have an Ilum quest in my mission log.

Forgot to mention the side stories between RoTHC and SoR
-CZ-198(2 flashpoints)
-Rakghoul Story (2 flashpoints)
-Kuat Drive Yards (1 flashpoint)
I suggest you pick up the next 3 at the same time since they all have you travelling all over the galaxy
-Macrobinocular questline(Will need a full group for last part)
-Seeker Droid questline (Might need a full group for last one)
-Section X story (gives you an HK unit companion)
-The Dread Master prologue(multiple operations)
-The Eternity Vault
-Karraga's Palace
-Explosive Conflict
-Scum and Villainy
-Terror from beyond
-Oricon Story (Dread Master epilogue)(2 operations)
Since the Dread Master story has many operations you will need to be subscribed and have a good enough character and since operations are considered endgame content you might wanna do them after you finish the expansions but in terms of story they come right after RoTHC
