By Rokkysox
A quick fix that stops the worse FPS drops you can experience in this game.

All in one because it's simple af
Okay so the game is, unfortunately, quite poorly optimised on high end rigs, specifically ones with high thread CPUs.
So the fix is simple;
-When you open the game (and you'll have to do this every time for now) open taskmanager
-Click the details tab
-Find the Subnautica.exe
-Right click it and open "Set affinity"
-Uncheck all boxes except CPU 0, CPU 2, CPU 4 and CPU 6
And that's all she wrote. My game gained 50 frames in areas that usually kill the game (kelp forests, debris, mushroom forests...) Playing at 60FPS locked is now smooth as butter on my rig (RTX 2060, ryzen 5 3600)

There is a mod that does this for you on nexus but it is better. it adds some settings in the options menu that let you turn on 1 2 3 or 4 cores. seems to be some high end rigs don't utilise the extra cores that some may have. Only a simple idea of what any of this means but it may make sense

you may not have found the fix yourself, but you shared it in a much better place - still the hero we needed but not the hero we deserved :)

my computer cant run anything too good and its annoying. I did this (as close as possible) and my fps improved immediately in my base. I have yet to see in more significant areas, but as of right now, this works well.
