That said, perhaps there is a need for more flavour text to actually depict the value dissonance going on within the game if you focus on slavery for your economy.
Would also be neat to have events that allow for pre-independence emancipation of slaves when capturing a settlement off a rival colony as a means of lowering disorder timers for larger cities where the population is largely slaves.
I prefer to play my pollyannaish OG Colonization, set in some alternate universe where slavery is nonexistent (until oddly, at the end, when you can choose it after declaring your freedom from the crown.) I think, though, the fact that it is included in the mod at least recognizes that the brutal practice existed.

I was going to try and get back into this game, but the more I try, the more it drives me away. Normalizing slavery, even in a video game scenario, should NEVER be acceptable! How was this thought to be a good idea?
