Section 1: Basics on making a good looking prison
I know, I know, making good looking prisons can be tough! But don't worry, these small steps will make a HUGE difference in how your prison looks, and how it can be escaped.

#1: You don't need to use the preset prison areas for your prison. If you go into the second tab, you can create a zone, and shape it however you want, as long as it fits the required items.

#2: You don't need everything on the checklist (Kinda). If you remove something like meal time entirely on your prison schedule, the Meal Hall will no longer be required for your prison. *This does not count for roll call*

#3: Don't start building in the corners. I know, that can be hard, just don't do it. A great way to start an outdoor prison is to make the center area the Roll Call zone and branch off from there.

#4: Use solitary doors for entrances to your prisons that are just for looks. There are no Silver/White doors in the editor menu, which is a bummer. however, you can use solitary doors to serve the same purpose! They look like entrances, and will never open!

#5: Don't want people breaking through your walls to get out? Double layer them. Placing walls next to each other connects them, and if you make a 2x2 area of walls, none can be broken. If you surround your prison with this, inmates won't be able to get out. You can also use Water to stop inmates from digging out as well.

#6: Use decorations. This will improve the look of your prison by a TON!

#7: Not all rooms have to have a dedicated road. You can make something like the meal hall and solitary block in the same building if you want, the choices are endless!

#8: Think about design. When making your prison you don't want something like the generator room to be in a strange spot, as it would look funny. Make sure your prison makes sense.
Section 2: Tips and Tricks
Wanna add some spice to your prison? Try out these cool tricks!

#1: More than 1 Medical Bay. All Classic prisons have this, and you should add one to yours too! Just make sure they aren't next to each other.

#2: Add more than 1 generator. This will give your prison some extra cool points. Just be aware that all generators must be turned off for the power to go out!

#3: Add areas behind the cells that guards don't check. This will let inmates store items in the walls just like old time.

#4: Make vent entrances 3x3. This is a mostly basic thing to do, and adds a whole ton to your prison.

#5: Have multiple escapes, not just perimeter. Adding the "Escapes" like Jetskis, Boats, Cars, and Even a helicopter will make your prison even cooler! Just be aware they do not require items like in some of the unique escapes, so lock em behind doors, hard to reach vents, or walls!

#6: Use Contraband desks for vent rooms if you don't want the inmates to get stuck. This makes it so they can use a desk to get out, but if the contraband desk isn't linked to a contraband room, it will always have nothing, making it perfect for stopping ignorant inmates from trapping themselves.

#7: Add desk rooms. Rooms around the map that have regular desks in them for the inmates to find and use. Don't make it hard to get in. Just a room with a desk.

#8: Add BONUS rooms (If you want to be nice). In my opinion, a BONUS room is a room completely walled or fenced off, that contains an unholy amount of loot/desks. They can range from pretty good, to super good, and give the inmates something to work to for extra loot. (You will probably only have 1 or 2, because anymore makes it bad. Also make sure they aren't super easy to get into. They should be more rewarding than desk rooms however.)
Section 3: Advanced Gamer Strats
Here's where things get a bit tricky and probably hard to follow.

#1: Want to have roof connects like K.A.P.O.W. camp? On the 1st or 2nd floor, make walls connecting said rooms, then go up a floor and put a roof on it. Make sure there are vents in both rooms to let the inmates get in and out of both. If you want people to be able to go through said wall you needed to make, just replace a wall with a door. Not the best looking, but it works!

#2: Make really unique maps. A great example of this is my may S.S. FOX, which is inspired by another map. They both go on the same idea of having a boat, however mine sticks to having less land and mostly having just boat. You could attempt to make something like H.M.P. Offshore as well.

#3: Don't connect all the vents on a floor. I know it's SO tempting, and I usually do it as well, but DON'T! this will make the player have to think more about routing to get to their desired goal.

#4: Add Clever routes. For example, on a map, you could get to the contraband room by either getting a red and cyan key, or using the vents to turn off the generator, run through a contraband detector while it's off, and get in another vent, then get to the contraband room. Basically add multiple ways to get into big time rooms such as contraband rooms, guard rooms (if you have them), ETC.

#5: Use extra social rooms to make guards and inmates check that area (usually for harder prisons). You can do the opposite by making a room that doesn't lead anywhere, or make it faster to get anywhere. A dead end basically.

#6: Get creative! A super advanced move would to be creating an extremely creative prison that everyone would find extremely cool. Similar to a Really Unique Prison, but creative would mean you put a twist on the entire idea of a prison. Maybe it's not a prison anymore!
Section 4: Concluding Statements
I really hope this guide helped you make better prisons. What's very important not to forget is:

You won't make a god tier prison your first try. You will need to practice to get better at making prisons.

You WILL get better at making them if you keep on TRYING

Anyways, best of luck to you, fellow gamer.
