Easy Slide / Throw input on Pad (Law, Lee, Shaheen)
By DonVISIONe
Hi guys

after i recently came across a video guide on YT (Link at the bottom of the guide, thx for Kinslayer) i wanted to share this guide with a bit more detail how to get slides (Law, Lee, Shaheen) or throws with the slide input (like Asuka, Bryan, Kazuya or King has), done very consistently.

Especially for Law, Lee and Shaheen the full crouch mixup is very important and does improve your winning chances a lot. And to be able to threaten the opp. enough to make him duck (to condition him for your mids) you have to know how to perform the slide.

Settings
First you have to swap your L and R stick

Go to the main menu and follow the steps

  • Settings
  • Accessibility (might say other devices)
  • Button assignments / Controller Settings
  • Customize button assignments (it will show your plugged controller)

  • Swap the inputs from your the L stick with your R stick (right row)
(Its much more consistent if you dont assign the left and right movement to your R stick, by doing so you will avoid getting df inputs because all you have to do is hold down the right stick)

  • If you didnt do so already make sure to bind 3+4 on your R1 or R2 trigger (since you will need your thumb for the stick)

  • Save the current settings and go to lab
How to perform the Slide
Instruction

  • Once in crouch (either with dpad or now your R stick) hold down your R stick (if you didnt assigned the left and right movement you will always get a clean D input)

  • double tap F (depending on which side you play) and press 3+4 without releasing your fingers from the dpad and stick. (if you let go of your F button your char will do a regular crouch 3, if you let go of your R stick your char will do a ws 3)

Voila your easy slide.

Mixup your slide timing

  • If you double tap F fast your char can perform an instant slide.

  • If you delay your F inputs a bit however you can do a crouch dash with or without doing the slide to enforce your 50/50. (you still have to hold the button after the second F)

  • You can even buffer the first F during the recovery animation of other moves like Laws d1 if you directly go into crouch. Just wait a bit then press F and 3+4 to get the slide.

  • The input window for the second F is very long in Tekken terms, you have like 1 second to input the second F to get the slide.
How to perform the Throws (e.g. Kazuya's Gates of Hell)
Throws with slide input (e.g. Asuka, Bryan, Kazuya, King, Armorking)

  • This works exactly the same like your slide just with 1+2 instead of 3+4.

  • It works best after a move which recovers in crouch like Bryans and Kazuys db 3, Asukas F2 cancel into fc with df or her b1.

  • Again you can buffer your first F during the first move.
The End
Hope this helps you guys out there playing with pad and desperately trying to perform slides with the dpad like i was lol.

Here is the video from Kinslayer (make sure to give him a like)

Doing the slide the regular way in P1 is kinda ok but on P2 its hard to do atleast for me

Just give it a try and see for yourself, i think its much easier and more consistent but like i said in the beginning its more for people who struggle with the regular input.
If you have no problems doing the regular input, by all means go for it. :cozybethesda:

can't imagine this being any easier than regular input :D, i just hold down and slightly nudge my finger twice to do inputs like this on pad, DS3&4 pad, for those who are wondering

I dont think so since you have to change settings in the main menu for this to work but for everyone else this is pretty nice.

I am not sure if this is approved for tournament play though...
