Tips 1-50
1. Animals need water. So, you will see more animals near the waters instead of somewhere else.

2. Start early, because the animal starts early too. I prefer to start my day at 7.30 am.

3. My routine is like this: wake up at 06:00, get to the nearest lake (shoot some mallard/ducks, while waiting for other animals to come to drink, shoot the animals that are drinking, do not harvest them yet, harvest them when all the animals are gone/ dead. Do remember where they are downed)

4. Always bring a tent (it will help you to resupply and have a fast travel point)

5. If you want to level up your weapons, killing mallard/duck/geese is the best choice (time-wise)

6. Do the quest, they give quite nice money and experience and several quests give new weapons (E.G. Parque Fernando main quest (Gaucho Magnum) and Carolina's Greatest Hits, Shot-For-Shot side quest (.338 Championship). More details here:
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1596271417

7. Do not want to search for an animal? Then wait on their need/drink zone. Look at their time and go there at the earliest hour of the time. Chances are after 1 or 2 in-game hours some animals will come to the zone.

8. Focusing on 1 animal is good, but if there is a chance why not shoot it?

9. Your binoculars are your best friend, see through your binoculars as frequently as you can (after running, see or hear something)

10. The range finder will help you a lot, get it as soon as you can (you can grind, or you can get the High-Tech Hunting Pack DLC to get the 5X50 Night Vision Binoculars, its quite bright though if you use it on daylight )

11. Go on multiplayer to have people help you find your zones; it helps quite a lot early on

12. Do not spend money on blinds or stuff like that until you are rich enough. The sweet spot is after you buy all weapons and scope. Thus save money for the scope and weapon

13. You could also place the waypoint on the animal you spot in the map, so you know exactly how many yards/meter between you and the animal.

14. Running is speediest until you spot something or get a warning call, then crouch and sneak up on the animal. For higher-level animals use more caution.

15. Pay close attention to the wind direction. The animal could sniff you.

16. Choose skills and perks wisely. Resetting them costs a lot.

17. Change your tracking color. It will help you a lot to see better. You can do it by selecting "game" in the setting.

18. Wear a headset/headphone, it will help you hear better.

19. When you hear another footstep other than yours. It means there is an animal or two that is very near you. Hide in the bushes, stay still, and occasionally lure the animal using lures. After a few minutes, it will come so very close to you. Shoot it with your desired weapon.

20. Animal Location Maps https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2096067056

21. All in One Factsheets
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2064768650&fbclid=IwAR0osAI4pvRBIq-2TjMd2h5LXemgF1t6GxQ-ZA__WNpM3tFb_Z9IlB0NIEY

22. Confused about what weapon you need to bring. Then check this ALL Purpose and ALL Area Weapon loadout suggestion
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2075749334

23. If you like, you could do a run and gun in this game. Especially when you hunt Bison and Buffalo, mode details here
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2094182158

24. To check what weapon is able to kill what class, go to the store page and see the ammo page, and then to know what ammo is compatible with what weapon click the "Compitable Item".

25. Kill the male, they give a better score. If you pass all the check, the male usually be at least silver

26. You can outrun the red fox and coyote.

27. You can't outrun buffalo, but you surely can make them aggressive by running towards them.

28. If you hear a mating call. It doesn't mean that they are near. It just means that you can hear them and they exist.

29. If you hear a warning call that means they are near. Possibly 200 m or even less.

30. Warning calls could be several things. They could be walking away, stand still, or even ready to charge at you. It doesn't always mean that they will run away or already running away. Although smaller animals tend to choose to run away from you.

31. Some animal will defend their pack (Bison, Buffalos, Boar, etc) when they know you are pursuing the pack. One of the bravest of that pack will not run away from you. But, it will run to you. So be prepared.

32. You can heal yourself by sleeping or by consuming a medical kit.

33. It is advisable to consume a medical kit rather than sleeping. Because when you are sleeping, the animal that you pursue will run away. Thus it's advisable for you to carry a tent and then get the medical pack. So you can heal anytime.

34. Unless you are in an area that is filled with aggressive animals. You don't need to bring a medkit.

35. If you are hunting a specific animal. It's advisable to bring both of the scent lure and the caller.

36. Hunting stand, tree stand, ground blinds, etc, etc do make you invisible and quiet.

37. The maximum effect of the decoy is 20. More than that it doesn't bring any additional effect.

38. All weapons except higher class shotgun slug have a uniform zeroing range, no matter what bullet that you feed them. E.G The handgun zeroing is 25 m, 50 m, and 75 m.

39. So, shotgun slug actually has a LONGER ZEROING RANGE than birdshot and buckshot and even longer than a handgun, so this something you might consider. birdshot and buckshot have zeroing range of 25 m, 50 m, and 75 m. While slug has a zeroing range of 50 m, 100 m, and 150 m.

40. When you shoot a shotgun, it creates a burst of fire. When you shoot another weapon, it just a 1 straight line. Thus, shotgun creates an AOE in front of you, and on a very very rare occasion, you can hit more than 1 animal with the shotgun.

An example of shotgun burst AOE

An example of other weapons shot

41. That AOE is also the reason why the shotgun is technically better for self-defense, especially for fast-running animals (boar, warthog, wolves). Since you will be able to hit multiple organs with 1 shot.

42. For self-defense it's advisable you bring a shotgun or a big caliber handgun.

43. Handgun typically has higher penetration compared to the shotgun. Thus for self-defense on a slow-moving animal (Buffalos, Bisons) the handgun technically performs better.

44. While handgun have bigger magazine size than any other weapon. Keep in mind that this can be a weakness, because you will take a longer time to reload, and it could be dangerous in a self-defense situation.

45. The reason why you might consider to bring a shotgun. Is because shotgun could help you kill multiple class animals with one weapon. Even the weakest shotgun could kill class 1-7 (20G and 16 G) with full integrity.

46. Opening a tent makes a loud noise for a few seconds and IT CAN spook animal around you

47. However, if you crouch while opening a tent, the noise is also reduced, and when you are prone the noise will greatly be reduced.

48. Opening a stand or blinds doesn't create loud noise though.

49. If you love to shoot from a very long-range (more than 200 m) Get the zeroing perk in the rifle perk as soon as you can. The perk will help you kill in long-range. So, for example, The 7mm Regent Magnum has an effective range of 150 m. With the short-range zeroing it will adjust your rifle scope to 75 M, With the long-range zeroing it will adjust your rifle scope to 300 M.

50. To use active skill/perk. You need to activate it by clicking on the desired active skill. and then press F to use it.
Tips 51-
51. In PC: you could use the middle mouse button to toggle between scope and iron sights. So, if a buffalo is charging at you, just click the middle mouse button, so you will not be distracted by the scope.

52. If you want to bring only 1 (one) weapon, then your best choice would be the Drilling shotgun/rifle it has every class ammo that you need, plus its quite strong. Albeit in long-range it is not that accurate (more than 150 m for the rifle and 75 m for the shotgun).

53. Use the road when you are using the ATV. It's more effective and efficient that way. Plus it will reduce the risk of you falling down from a cliff.

54. If you want to search for gold and/or diamond. Max out your Spotting Knowledge skill and at least lv 2 Track Knowledge. Shoot the animal that has (in particular order) that:
  • Have the highest potential score in the herd
  • Have the highest potential weight in the herd
  • Have the highest level in the herd

55. Shoot for the lung and if possible the heart, DO NOT target the head. If you shoot the lung, it won't be considered as damaging trophy organ, but also it will be counted as a vital shot. So win-win.

56. It's advisable for you to shoot when the animal is facing sideways. You will have a better view and a higher chance to shoot the vital organ.

57. Use the ammo that has the higher penetration (usually its the polymer ammo). Higher penetration gives you a higher chance to shoot multiple organs at the same time.

58. For animals that usually gather in a herd (E.G Red Deer). If a female is doing a call, there is a chance that a male is also near them.

59. You can reduce the recoil significantly by ducking and even more if you are prone.

60. Every ammo has an effective range that you can see on the ammo store page, so It's advisable to shoot not too far from the effective range. The maximum range that you can go to is roughly 30 % more than the effective range. So for example the 7 mm Regent Magnum polymer bullet has an effective range of 150 m. Thus after 200 m, it will start to become inaccurate.

61. Every time you move, shoot, ride the ATV you will produce sound. You could see how loud you are by seeing the bar on the lower right HUD. A single white bar will alert the animal 10 meters from you. The second white bar 20 meters and the third is 30 meters. A single red is 50 meters The second red is 100 meters and the third red bar is 150 meters. The ATV is 300 meters.

62. Noise can be masked by environmental sounds such as wind and rainfall. This can be further increased by "I'm only happy when it rains" skill.

63. When you are using the ATV to go from point A to B always use the roads, you can reduce a lot of time using the roads.

64. When you are using the zeroing perk, always pick the zeroing as close with you and your target. So for example, you are using 7 mm Regent Magnum (It has 75 m, 150 m, and 300 m zeroing) it's 215 m between you and your target, choose 150 m. Since 215-150 is 65 and 300-215 is 85. But if its 285 m between you and your target, choose 300 m. Since 285-150 is 135 and 300-285 is 15.

65. This might be a personal preference, but if you are not planning to kill an animal from over 200 m range. You don't really need the zeroing perk. You can use the perk points for other perks such as Lightning Hands, a tier 3 perk for handguns, which decreases the weapon reload time. and/or the Recoil Management, a tier 2 perk for shotguns, which reduces weapon recoil.

Considering that, I might want to switch to Layton instead. Its true that there are thicc forests and its hard to find animals in there. But I have to begin a new game if I want to switch to a different area, right?

Layton, it have the sweet spot of everything. Lots of animal, easeness to hunt, amazing animal choices, lots of quest and side quest. Hirsch on the other hand is not newbie friendly, its got thick woods, so you might not be able to see the animal easily, plus the quests are also quite hard compared to other maps.

One question: What area did you choose for your first playthrough? I chose hirschfeld.

either you hunt on the other part of the map (if you usually hunt at the north side of the map, you go to the southern part). Other option is to sleep for several days straight (but it will cost you quite amount of money). Another option (this is my favorite), open your map for multiplayer and let other players "moves" your hunting pressure.

if you dislike hunting pressure, then its advisable to kill maximum 2 animal per area, so you go for quality instead of quantity. 2 animal hunting pressure dissolved more quickly than 20 animal.

never mind about the birds, i know what i need know, but is there any way to decrease hunting pressure?
