When Daft Punk Joined Kanye at the 2008 Grammys

Look back at the last time Daft Punk played live on TV. Of course, it was spectacular.

One of the interesting factoids from the recent news of Daft Punk's upcoming Grammy Awards performance with Pharrell, Nile Rodgers and Stevie Wonder is that it will be the French duo's first on TV since 2008, which was also at the Grammys. They teamed with Kanye. Yes, Kanye at the Grammys. And since we can't really remember anything past our last tweet, we dug around the Internet for the performance (and plopped it into the GIF above).

Kanye won three Grammys in 2008. One of them was for 'Stronger,' which features a prominent sample from Daft Punk's 'Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger.' Hence, a "surprise" collaboration.
Even though the Daft Punk song was originally released in 2001, it would win its own Grammy in 2009, after it was released as a single from Daft Punk's 'Alive 2007' album, a live recording of their show in Paris. They have not toured since the end of 2007, so the Grammy performance is a pretty big deal -- as far as TV performances go.
