Preface
This guide is for new players who want to play survivor, can(’t) be taken seriously. Jukes and loops are common mechanic in a game and it is part of an aggressive playstyle, if you’re not sure about your mad looping skillz, try to evade aswell or be a legendary gen jockey. Anyway let’s begin.
Play styles
Every player has their own playstyle, so you as a new player should find yours sooner than later.
here is a list of some:

Newbie - Doesn't know what this game is about, usually they are going around the edge of the map just to vibe in peace. They also have tendency to f*ck up everything they get hold on. Everyone had it that way, very timid and might look stupid in killer eyes. Don't look behind themselves and ignore pallets as well.

SoloQ player - Like the name suggest they play solo. They has seen enough BS in soloQ to not care anymore. They will not help anybody else unless it is absolutely necessary. Will do their stuff while not in chase (cleanse totems, loot chests, gens, selfcare in a corner). Even if others die, they will try hard to survive.

Gen jockey - They are focusing only on gens and exits, generally they are not very good at looping, so they either camp pallets / waste them or go down in a matter of a few seconds. Usually they are good at their work, although at the ending part of the game they might leave you behind, or just camp exit gates until you die.

Altruistic sweetheart - Like name suggests those are lovely players that usually think about others, team comes first and gens / themselves are last priority. If you have a full team of altruistic sweethearts it's a recipe for disaster, since nobody will really do gens. They are usually friendly teammates that might body-block for you or rescue you even if NOEDs active.

Urban artist - They usually use urban and spine chill. They try to evade the killer at whatever cost, so when they see their light up spine chill, they go off whatever they were doing in the moment. They are generally shy so if they hear terror radius they might as well freeze in place for a moment. They try to unhook, but due their timidity might not succeed if the killer is near.

"Pro" flaslight guy - Usually takes flashlight to trial just to provoke the reaction of the killer, spamming flashlight at him. Either will run behind killer whole trial to try to get flashlight saves or just spam it to killers face. Usually they think they are God tier loopers but in a minute killer downs them they disconnect. They are also super salty in a chat just for fun.

Actual God tier looper - Might take Object of obsession, is good at looping but might make some mistakes here and there. They are slippery snakes and actually useful for team, wasting killers time. Some killers tend to ignore them, some don’t, usually they spice up chase with t-bag or pointing here and there.

Editor's Note: If you are Meghead please stop reading right now, you are a lost cause.
Characters + items
Survivors on their own are only reskins. Each character has their own unique perks (teachables). You can unlock them by leveling said character to level 30, 35, 40. After leveling them up teachables will appear in other survivors' bloodwebs.
By pressing F1 you can see characters menu, perks, along with their backstory. That might help you decide who to level up. Ultimately it is up to you, and your playstyle who to level up 1st.

There is also bunch of youtube tutorials by: Painreliever or Otzdarva to help you decide.

Survivor items:

Survivor items has 6 levels of rarity :

Orange - Event item - 5k BP
Maroon - Ultra rare - 7k BP
Purple - Very rare - 6k BP
Green - Rare - 5k BP
Yellow - Uncommon - 4k BP
Brown - Common - 3k BP

There are also 6 different items which are (from rarity up to down):
Firecrackers - event items - Can be only obtained in time during the event (winter, halloween, new year).
They are used to distract the killer or blind them.

Keys - Maroon and violet colour can open hatch, they also have (30 and 5 seconds of use) which means if you pair them with aura addons you can use them at said time. There is also a green key which is mostly paired with aura reading addons. You can not open the hatch with a green key (broken key).

Flaslights - Flashlights are used for blinding the killer and flashlight saves mostly.

Maps - Maps can show you (gens, totems, chests, hooks, hatch) depending on add ons you use.

Medkits - Used to heal yourself or teammate - 16 charges = 1 heal state.

Toolboxes - They are used to sabotage hooks and repairing gens.

How to play against ... part 1
Every killer has some weakness you can use to your advantage, so lets look at them:
List of killers: Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Michael, Hag, Doctor, Cannibal, Huntress, Freddy

Trapper:
From his name his main ability are bear traps.
Common sense should speak on this one, look under your feet. You can easily disarm Trapper’s traps. The most used tactic is trapping good loops, such as shack, trapping windows, dropdowns, door entries, or close by hooked person. When you step into a trap then it’s about your luck (unless he has specifical add-ons). You can get out of trap before he comes to pick you up or not. Also if someone ends in a trappers basement use your head first and be careful. Do not rush it.

Wraith:
His main ability is invisibility, he is able to cloak and uncloak with his bell.
When he is moving you can clearly see his outline (Kinda lookslike a mirage). In a game he will certainly keep you on your toes. Try to always look around you, spine chill might help as well. When he is cloaking and uncloaking you might hear his bell, if not there is something like a hush sound, if you listen carefully. He often takes some time to uncloak so try to take advantage of that (get to nearby window or loop), don’t forget about his speed burst when he does uncloak. You can burn him with a flashlight before he uncloaks which gives him a short time stun.

Hillbilly:
Chainsaw sprint
Hillbilly is able to one-shot a survivor, in other words put him from a healthy state to a dying state in a seconds. He is also one of few killers that can end a game very quickly. His chainsaw can be heard from far away. Look around carefully, if he is chasing you try to make him hit you manually - With M1. Use windows, some Hillbillies also want you to drop pallets as quickly as possible. When he is starting his chainsaw try to make most of it since controlling his ability is hard, you can often dodge by going the opposite way he is going. When he is right behind you and you have nothing try to 360´ him, or make him confused. Might not work on all Billies but give it a shot.

Nurse
Spencers last breath, her ability allows her to blink through any obstacles (walls, pallets, floors)
Thus ignoring some of the core gameplay mechanics.
After her base kit nerf she is not played as much, her learning curve is really high and many people can’t be bothered to learn her. Nurse has to charge her blink in order to teleport, so she relies on her prediction ability. There are few ways how to go against her. You can evade her most of the game. In a chase try to break her line of sight with you, make her guess what way you went. If you are in plain sight without any obstacles and you see her charged, run towards her. Moonwalking also works since she sees you running one way but you are moonwalking towards her. Be aware pallet stuns mostly doesn't do her anything especially if she is in mid fatigue!

Shape
He is using stalking which he gains evil within, on tier 3 he is able to give survivors exposed status effect. Thus one - shot them as well.
In his Evil within(EW) 1, he has no terror radius, so he can easily grab you from a gen. Try to evade him or block his Line of Sight. In his Evil within 2 he gains a small terror radius and has slightly bigger lunge than EW 1. In his Evil within 3 he gains vaulting speed and gets a bigger lunge along with exposed status effect. There is nothing much you can do when he is in his EW 3 so do not farm your teammates or try to wait it out. He also has a tombstone piece - and Judith's tombstone. Which means if he gains EW 3 he can kill any healthy or injured survivor. If you know the killer has such an add-on try to hop into a locker since he is not able to mori you unless you "stand".

Hag
She is using her phantasm traps which she can teleport to when they are stepped on by a survivor.
She is a very uncommon killer for me, she is not played very much. You can counter her traps by burning them with a flashlight. Crouching over them will not trigger them. Or when the hag in chase simply go and pop them meanwhile she is chasing anyone else. Be aware if hag gets someone to the basement it will be hard time to get them back, since camping is basically in her power.

Cannibal
Bubbas chainsaw
Cannibal is one of the weaker killers, he is also one the DBD biggest memes. Lot of people relieve stress by taking Cannibal with insidius and camp the basement. Which you can’t do really much, do not attempt to save and do gens. His power punish altruistic survivors while camping. Otherwise he is close to Billy, try to make him m1 you instead one shotting you. He can also fake chainsaw really easily in order to make you drop pallet. At the end of his chainsaw "sprint" he is stuck in a "tantrum". In a tantrum he can still one shot you, so don't forget about that.

Doctor
He is able to create a static field with his power that makes survivors scream and show him their location. He can bring survivors from madness 1 to 3. Which can show survivors static illusions of doctor or pallets.
If you play against doctor try to keep off of his terror radius. His static blast goes as far as his terror radius. Very good counter to him is perk called calm spirit. He can effectively end some loops by shocking survivors which will redeem them incapable of doing any action for 3 seconds. If you’re looping him it’s better to drop pallets early if you are not sure. Do not camp pallets! Also in madness 3 you are unable to do any action such as mending unless you snap out, you are also unable to use flashlight.

Huntress
She is one of the ranged killers, she throws her hunting hatchets to hurt survivors.
Huntress is one of the more precise killers. Every time she is throwing a hatchet you can hear particular sound when she is maxed out. She has 5 hatchets by default. When she is throwing hatchets try to listen for the sound and look behind yourself, or try to run in zig zag pattern and break line of sight. Since her speed handicaps her, she often has to reload hatchets in a nearby locker. In that time try to run away or play with your scratch marks a little bit. If you loop her around ruins or normal tiles try to crouch as well. You can also fake windows since those are free hits for her. Also most huntresses will wait for you to drop pallet so they can gain free hit, often look for those who respect pallets.

Nightmare AKA Daddy Freddy
He has either dream snares or dream pallets, depends on Freddys add-ons.
When you start game against Freddy you will often notice small timer in a left corner of the screen. By deafult you fall asleep in 1 minute of the match. When you are asleep you can walk into Freddys traps or pallets and get an oblivious effect. Oblivious effect can counter perks like borrowed time. His snares makes you slower and his pallets can trick you into free hit. If you are asleep and you know he has fake pallets look around and take them down, same with snares, it will help your team more in a long run. Treat him like classic M1 killer.
How to play against ... part 2
List include killers: rest of the killers.

Pig
She has reverse bear traps and ambush attacks.
Her ambush attack allows her to crouch, in crouch she has no terror radius (undetectable status). She can effectively end some of the shorter loops with her ambush and get a free hit. Her special ability is her reverse bear traps. Her bear traps only activate when gen is finished. If you see multiple people with a bear trap on try to give them a little bit of time before popping gen. She has 4 jigsaw boxes across the map by default, you can find keys to bear traps in one particular Jigsaw box. After the last gen is done and she gives you her reverse trap it will not activate so don't worry. You can normally escape via exit or hatch if traps are inactive. If it is activated you need to either get it off or escape only via hatch.

Clown
His afterpiece tonic impairs your vision and reduces your movement speed (-15%). Can also prevent you from fast vaults.
Clown is once again one of the weaker killers in a game. His after piece tonic can slow you down a bit but ultimately does not prevent you from looping. Try to look behind yourself and see which way the clown is throwing bottles. His toxins cloud vary on his add ons but try to usually avoid it. If he hits you with a toxin cloud your vision becomes impaired and the survivor will cough about 3 seconds.

Spirit
Her power Yamaoka's hunting allows her phase to her targets unseen. She leaves behind her character husk and is completely invisible for the survivor.
Spirit is one of the best killers at the moment. Her power allows her to easily jump on survivors. You can tell she is phasing by "whoosh" sound outside her terror radius. If you are in her terror radius you can not hear her phasing so be careful. There is no certain way to tell if she is actually phasing or just standing on a spot. Yes some might argue her character animation might reset but it is hard to tell. Try to evade her and play sneaky. If you are in chase with spirit and you know for a fact she is phasing, stop running, so she wont see your scratch marks. In her phase state she is only allowed to see scratch marks and she also needs to use her hearing. So iron will or spine chill are really good perks to run against her. Be also careful on grass, a good spirit can tell and notice such things to track you down.

Legion
Legion is a speedy killer, using his feral frenzy to catch up to survivors and apply wounded status.
He is certainly one of the more annoying killers. When he hits a survivor in his frenzy he can see other survivors in his terror radius with his killer instinct. In killer instinct he can see you in lockers as well. In a frenzy he is not able to see scratch marks. He can vault windows and pallets like a survivor would. If you know legion is using his power a lot is futile to heal against him, especially in certain builds. As at it might sound stupid try to push gens more and do not waste your time healing. When he is in feral frenzy only things that can stop him is the expiration of his ability and pallet. Do not waste pallets on him, most of legions respect them anyway, playing sneaky against him also wont work much.

Plague
She is able to infect survivors from a short distance, an infected survivor after a while has a broken status effect (one - shot). Survivors can also contamine gens and lockers.
Plague is a tricky killer to play against. Depends overall on your team but the most used tactic was not to cleanse if you were broken. Broken or infected survivors make coughing noise and vomit in intervals. If you are contaminated you can infect others as well, if you unhook somebody who is contaminated you will get infected too. If you cleanse against her, you give her a fountain of devotion. She is able to drink it and have one shot vomit. Her vile purge will change to a corrupt one. You can tell by red sparks around her and by discolored vomit (black). If you cleanse in all fountains they will give her by default corrupt purge. She also starts with one fountain of corruption by default.

Ghostface
In his night shroud he has an undetectable status. He is able to stalk survivors and give them exposed status effect for 45 seconds.
Ghostface is another stealthy killer. He can crouch and lean behind objects in order to stalk survivors. He can stalk survivors for 8-10 secs, to make them exposed, depending if he is leaning or not. After he is revealed by any survivor he will see said survivor in his killer ability for 2 seconds. After he is revealed his stalks will still stay around survivors so next time he can stalk you in a shorter time, depending how he stalked you before. When he is in the night shroud you can get him out by looking at him for 2 seconds.

Demogorgon
He can either use his portals to move across the whole map or use his shred ability, to leap to survivor and destroy pallets.
When he first activates his portals they are invisible to survivors, after he goes through them you are able to destroy them. While doing so you gain an oblivious status effect, so always look around yourself. When he uses the portal and there are some survivors in a close proximity, he can see them in his killer instinct. He is travelling underground but you can see him come out and you will also hear a sound cue of him screeching. Try to loop him like any other killer, he can miss his shred so you can try tricking him or confusing him like Hillbilly, with his shred he is also eating pallets.

Oni
His Yamaoka's wrath and his demon dash makes him one of the stronger killers to face.
He is collecting blood orbs in order to access his demon's ability. He is getting some of his power by default but he is mostly running around and injuring survivors. Every action when you are injured generates blood which he can see (crouch, vaulting, doing gens, going to lockers) Try to evade him. After his power is ready you will hear his sound cue. After his demon abilities are activated you can also hear him. In his demon dash he is hard to control. He is also eating a lot of pallets with his ability. So try to run along corners and crouch, he can either miss or not see you. Always use corners to your advantage. After he downs a survivor he can either pick him up or leave him on the ground to not break his demon ability. If he gets someone from the locker it will break his demon ability.

Deathslinger
He is another ranged killer, using his redeemer to aim he fires a harpoon to reel in survivors to hit them.
When he hits you with his ability try to get stuck around any object, as long as you don’t come to him you will be alright. If he hits you or you break his chain you will get a deep wound state. Other survivors might break the chains as well. Don't forget that he can also hit you from fences or windows if he reals you towards him. Everytime after every shot he has to reload to fire again, also when he is reloading he is momentarily slowed so use that to your advantage. Try to also run in a zigzag pattern when he is aiming at you, his range of harpoon is limited so sometimes you won't even get hit. He has ultimately 2 hits before downing you.

How to play against new killers
Pyramid head
Pyramid head is the newest addition to DBD. His special power is called Rites of Judgement. With it he can leave a trail on the ground which will put survivors into tormented status. If you as a survivor step into it he can see you through his killer instinct (3 seconds). You can crouch over it, when you do he won’t see you nor you get a tormented status effect. When you get a tormented effect he can send you to the cage and barbed wires will follow you, and will make you easier to track. He also has a special attack called punishment of the damned. It unleashes a wave of force that can go through walls and damages everyone in its way. Being caged is in essence the same as being hooked. But if you are in phase two in the cage, skill-checks start to appear, if you miss them your timer will run quicker. If survivors with a tormented status effect uncage somebody else they will lose their tormented status effect. On your third hook or cage, he can “mini-mori” you. He is one of the slower killers due his ranged attack. Treat his ranged ability the same as doctors shock, in a way he can trick you into dropping a pallet for an easier attack like huntress would. If you are in a narrow alley (like in Haddonfield) there is not much you can do. His power also relies on prediction. Before using his punishment of the dawned there is 1 second delay, which you can see where it will appear as a survivor. Also occasionally his hits are questionable, sometimes they will go through loops like ruins, cars, tires and sometimes not so be aware.

Blight
His special ability is rush. Blight has 5 tokens for his ability by default.
Using his ability he consumes one of the tokens. When he is in his rush, Blight can't perform a launch attack. However rushing into walls or obstacles will grant him the ability to injure survivors. He has also a special attack called lethal rush, Lethal rush works the same as his ability but during Blights lethal rush he can slam into pallets breakable walls and destroy them. After he consumes all his tokens, Blight is caught in a fatigue and begins to recharge his tokens. His fatigue lasts about 2.5 seconds. Blight is one of the few mobile killers, he can move through the whole map in a matter of seconds.
Although he is mobile, he is hard to control thus juking him as you would a normal killer. Be careful on deadzones, and try cutting corners. Try make use of the windows as well but otherwise he is another M1 killer.

The Twins
YEETUS the fetus

Trickster
The newest and only K-pop star like killer added to dbd! His power is called Showstopper. He starts the trial with 60 blades by default. He throws his blades, and with his blades comes Laceration meter aswell. Laceration meter measures each time you were hit by his blades. Once Trickster fills the meter (8 blade hits). The survivor will lose a health state, either injuring them or putting them into dying state. Laceration meter would gradually decrease if you weren't hit by a blade for a short time.If Trickster hits you with m1 it will also deplete survivors Laceration meter.
His special attack is called the main event. In this mode Trickster automatically throws unlimited blades for 10 seconds. His throw rate is increased and his movement speed wont decrease after each throw like it normally would. It can be cancelled by the trickster.
Now he belongs to slower killers group since he is ranged. His knifes are really quick, though. When he is throwing his blades, it will decrease his movement speed. He will need to reload them in the locker.
Most people think he is weak. That doesn't mean you will have easy game against him, though. Best strategy to use against him is just holding W and run. Try to put much space between him and yourself as well as anything really (tiles, windows, obstacles). Don't get caught in the open with a free line of sight. Try to break his line of sight instead.
He can exploit animation lock ins really well. Don't just predrop pallets. He can exploit aswell unhooking animations or vaulting. Try to loop him because he will lose his speed over time throwing his knives.
Good thing to mention he also giggles during a chase. The giggling is directional. So it can make easier time looping him for you, if you gonna pay attention to his sounds.
When he is camping it's also very tricky. He is very likely to get you while unhooking. His main event is fairly short, and you can tell it started by his animation changing.

Big thank you to user Hex: Baby Trapper! They really helped me with this one and I deeply appreciate it.
Survivors Status effects
This is list of survivors status effects which can killers and survivors apply on surviros.

Blidness
This status effect disables survivors ability to see other survivors auras. While blinded, you cannot see survivors on hooks neither can you see any survivors in a dying state. When this status effect is active it disables aura-reading perks and add-ons also.

Broken
Survivors with this status effect cannot be healed back to healthy state for some period of time.
Perks that can apply this status are:
Deliverance
For the people
No Mither (Broken status effect apply for whole trial) and Second Wind

Cursed
This effect shows survivors that are in a trial and have an active Hex perk. You can get rid of this status by destroying the Hex totem.

Deep wound
Survivor has a deep wound timer under their name. If they fail to mend in a time interval they fall into a dying state. Mending timer will pause while running or mending. Can be applied via Borrowed time, Mettle of a man, or medkit add-on (styptic Agent)

Endurance
Survivors with this status effect can gain 1 extra hit without going to the dying state. Can be applied via Styptic agent, Borrowed time and Mettle of Man.

Exhausted
It is a status after using one of the exhaustion perks, which grants a haste effect for a few seconds. Exhaustion puts exhaustion effects on cooldown. Exhaustion will not recover while running. Perk Adrenaline ignores the exhausted effect when it's being applied but causes exhaustion as well.

Exposed
When this is active, the survivor is able to be one-shot. When hit the survivor will automatically go from a healthy state to a dying state. Endurance will counter this status effect momentarily. Exposed is applied through the killer's basic attack.

Haste
Survivors speed is enhanced for a few seconds by any exhaustion perk.

Haemorrhage
Survivors are heavily bleeding, and leave behind traces of blood.

Hindered
Survivors movement speed is slowed, often perform slow vaults.

Madness
Survivors are affected by Doctor's powers and experience certain afflictions.
The type depends on Doctor's add-ons and survivors madness tier.

Mangled
Survivor is heavily injured, this status effect slows down survivors healing speed by 20%.

Oblivious
Survivors with this status effect do not hear the killers terror radius. Survivors are not affected by any effects that are conditional to stay in terror radius (Borrowed time). While you are also asleep you get an oblivious status effect by default.

Tiles

What is the point of looping? Remember it's not always about escaping but to waste killers time.
I will not mention them all, like claw loop, cow tree loop or normal ruins.
Don't forget your path actually depends on a killer, which way he will cut you off.
So let's try to recognise few types of tiles first:

T + L walls
- Like the name suggests they are in the shape of T and L, contain 2 windows, no pallets. If you're from the right side and the killer doesnt double-back you're in for a good run.

How to run it as survivor:
Dark green primary path
Light green secondary path
Blue - windows

Shack
-Best loop in the game, you can make a few rounds in as well. Contains 2 doors (3 depends on breakable wall),1 window and 1 safe pallet.

Dark green primary path
Light green secondary path

Long wall jungle gym
- Contains 1 window, 1 safe pallet. One of the more safe jungle gyms.

Single pallet gym
- They consist of 1 pallet and long C + L shaped walls. They are semi-safe.
Dark green primary path

Remember to always look if killer is behind you, also always take longer side of the wall to loop. Try to connect multiple tiles at the time. So do not be scared to run to different tile meanwhile.

Four I´s loop
- Contains 1 pallet, 1 window.

Last words
If you are new I would highly advise you to take your time and check out list of DBD offenses on official forum.
Everything comes from experience so please do not forget that. Since this is multiplayer game try to think about other side aswell. You will not always escape and that is alright.
If you feel heated up about something or someone is taunting you, feel free to close the main chat with ">>" mark.
After all you paid for this game so try to enjoy yourself.
