Introduction
Guide to Backing Up Your Total War: Warhammer II Mods Before a Major Update

NOTE: THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE AN UPDATE IS LIVE.

Tired of your save games being broken when a major update or DLC is released? Want to keep playing the game with your favorite mods until they're working with the new content that CA makes? There is a way to do this, and fortunately, it's pretty simple. No hex editing or Matrix phone calls required. Read on.
Requirements
Requirements:

Kaedrin's Mod Manager. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1399787504
A bit of extra storage space on your PC.
A bit of time to set it up.
A big pot of Halfling stew to munch on.
Step 1
Open Kaedrin's Mod Manager (KMM). Click on the "Options" button near the top left corner. Enable the "Backup Mods" option.
Step 2
Create a new folder somewhere on your PC to store your mod files locally. It can be anywhere, but preferably on the same drive that your WH2 is located on, so that large files can be moved more quickly.
Step 3
Click on the "Options" button again. Click on "Choose Backup Location". Select the folder you created in the step prior.
Step 4
Give KMM up to a few minutes for it to finish copying all the mod files over. This is usually very quick.

Steps 5, 6, 7, and 8 are optional, but very much recommended. If you do not wish to create a collection, you can simply save the links to all your mods in a text document. But doing that would take much longer than with a Steam collection.
Step 5
Go to the Total War: Warhammer II Workshop on Steam.
https://steamproxy.net/app/594570/workshop/
Step 6
Click on the "Browse" tab, then on "Collections". Press the "Create Collection" button on the right side.
Step 7
Enter whatever you like into the title, image, description, and categories boxes on the first page. For best results, use a picture of Helman Ghorst as the branding image. If the image fails to upload, find another image of Helman Ghorst.
Step 8
On the next screen, go to the "Subscribed Items" tab and add to the collection all that mods which you are subscribed to and wish to keep. This may take a while depending on how many mods you are subscribed to because the UI for this sucks. When you're finished, press "Save and Continue".
Step 9
When you're at the page for your Collection, hit the "Unsubscribe from all" button. This will prevent Steam from overwriting your mods with new versions which will be incompatible with your old version of the game.
Step 10 (ONLY DO THIS AFTER THE UPDATE/DLC IS LIVE)
After the game has been updated, go to your Steam Library and find Total War: WARHAMMER II. Right click it and select "Properties". Go to the "Betas" tab, and from the drop-down menu select the version of the game you were playing prior to the update. Close the box and wait for Steam to download the files for the old version of the game.
Step 11
Go to your backup folder. Copy all the files from it to your Total War WARHAMMER II data folder.
Step 12
That's it, you're done. You can now play with your old mods until they're all updated to the new version of Warhammer II. Use KMM to play the game. When your mods are updated, you can go back to the collection you made and hit the "Subscribe to all" button to get them all up to date again.

Yes.

Step 4 is not working for me. Nothing happens. Will it work just as well if I just manually copy the contents of the TW2 data folder into this backup folder?
