BASIC
Right now Freeplay has 3 maps, namely: City/Factory, Forest and Swamp, each map have unique locations, where you can search for items and another players. The transition between maps is made in special places, usually gates.

  • Lobby:
In BRAIN / OUT 1.8 update, the lobby has been re-added to Freeplay, this time with a building that works as a personal stash, where you can store a certain amount of items of your choice.

  • In-game:
When you get into the Zone, you will spawn on a random place of the map and will need to search for items to protect yourself from other players and bots that will appear on your way. Also, there is 2 more dangers in the Zone: Radiation and Cold, the Radiation is static and can be detected using a "Geiger Counter", the more sound it makes, the more radiation the place has. In case you have too much radiation, you can remove it from your body using "Anti-radiation pills" or any alchool, if your radiation bar fill up completely, you instantly die. Cold is caused by two ways: while the zone is at night-time and passing through a wind, to avoid both just stay near a campfire while you play some cards with your friends

  • Campfire:
The campfire is a way to protect yourself from the cold and to gather while waiting for the dawn, to make one, you need to lay sticks on the ground and fire it using a lighter, remembering to always put fuel so that it doesn't fade away.

  • Team up:
Tired of walking alone into the zone? You have the option to go to battle with a friend or to team up with somebody in-game temporarily, it works like this:

    • When a player has the yellow square on top of his head, everyone with the same dot color around them will join the group.

    • The default button to do this is F1.

    • You can have more than two people in your group.

    • If a member goes too far away from the others' vision range, said person will automatically leave the group after some seconds.

    • Group members cannot injure each other, and before a member dies, they will be bleeding and incapacitated until a member come close and help them up.

  • Extraction:
If you are satisfied with the amount of loot you picked up and want to extract it to stash it or complete a quest, you can leave the Zone searching for a special door located inside some buildings (with the exception of the Swamp map, which currently has no exit).

BOTS
There is not much to talk about them, they are bots, computer controlled players, they have a response time of almost 1 second but when they decide to attack you, they will not stop until you die. Their behavior is very simple: when they spawn, they take the first weapon they see and start walking around the map, there is a special type of bot that protects a certain position, they can only be found in the Swamps, only accessible during the mission "The Deal".
The use of bots in Freeplay is to compensate for the lack of players in this mode, in addition to being a requirement to complete the "Fake ID" quest, in which you have to collect passports dropped by them, in total there are 3 types of passports that are dropped randomly. This quest is a reference to the game "Papers, Please".
QUESTS
Freeplay has a quest system, most of them will likely be: get X item and extract, simple but time consuming, since some items are rare to appear in the Zone and you normally don't find in just one match.
Also remember that some items have defined spawn locations, such as VSSK / VKS Vyklhop, which only spawns in Bunker's vaults.

  • Daily
This is the most basic quest in the game, it resets every day and as a prize it gives the "Confiscate" box, and it always has the same requirement to complete it, collect: a X weapon, get X amount of a certain type of ammunition and find a random amount of X consumable (e.g. FIND TWO CANNED FOOD)

  • Co-op
The most elaborate Freeplay quests are cooperatives, "co-op", which requires a partner to help you, they just need you to start the game with your friend, if they or you die on the way, it will not affect the quest. The prizes given for these quests are shared, both will earn the rewards.

  • Collection
This type of quest has no secret, just collect the requested item and extract it from the Zone, the difference is that they have "levels", requiring you to take a larger quantity or a rarer item each time you complete it.
BLUEPRINTS
Blueprints are a type of item that you can find everywhere in Freeplay, they are projects that unlock weapons or unique clothing for general use in BRAIN / OUT matches. Most of them require RU to buy the item the blueprint has unlocked, but some require you to find parts of the item in Freeplay matches, spread out in boxes.
Currently the following items can be obtained through blueprints:

CONFISCATE
Freeplay has a daily quest called "The Order", this mission gives you as a prize a container called "Confiscate". The quest is very simple, depending only on the player's luck to find the items requested by it. This box has only one letter, with great items ranging from containers to weapons and unique clothes. Regarding this part: "Nuclear Materials will not enter the loot pool if you have more than 17 Nuclear Materials in your inventory!"

I opened 27 confiscates in a row, while holding 17 NM, and no NM dropped. So my guess is that NM won't appear in the loot pool when you have 17 OR more NM at a time.

When buying containers for RU, you need to unlock them in specific order - basically buying one makes another appear in your game. The order is as follows:

Recon -> VDV -> USEC -> Supply -> Vimpel

I'm still unsure as to how to unlock BOPE container. It appeared for me after buying SOBR, but I suspect it needs more than that. Before buying it, I also bought everything from the list above + Polymer and Defender (and all unique containers for NM, if that matters). So some (or all) of them may be needed for BOPE.
