Introduction
Hello and welcome to my guide. In this guide I am going to show you how to beat every boss in Terraria in expert mode.
If I was missing something or you have a better strategy feel free to leave a comment.

This guide was mostly inspired by the terraria wiki[terraria.gamepedia.com], so I linked a more detailed guide at the bottom of every boss

Now behold and enjoy the guide.
King Slime
Equipment:
You don't really need that much to beat King Slime.
tungsten[terraria.gamepedia.com] or silver armor[terraria.gamepedia.com] should be enough. You can even beat him without armor if you manage to dodge the boss and the other slimes.

Weapons:

Potions:

Arena:
This is an optimal arena for beating the boss. Just 2 layers of platforms should be enough, but if you need more, then feel free to add as many as you want.

Strategy:
In expert mode The King Slime also summons Spiked Slimes[terraria.gamepedia.com] when damaged so watch out for that.
The strategy here is to dodge the King and the other slimes by grappling onto the platform while dealing damage. Make sure that the layers of platforms are long enough for you to reach them, because avoiding the King Slime can be hard without some jump boosts accessories.

Eye of Cthulhu
Equipment:
You don't really need that much to beat the Eye of Cthulhu.
The ideal armor set would be Gold[terraria.gamepedia.com] or Platinum armor[terraria.gamepedia.com], but if it's too hard to obtain, you can get away with just tungsten[terraria.gamepedia.com] or silver armor[terraria.gamepedia.com].

Jester Arrows[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Summon
Snapthorn[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Flinx Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Anything you can find that fires projectiles or is literally ranged is welcomed for beating the Eye of Cthulhu.

Potions:
These are the potions that i like to go with. You can bring more potions if you want or beat the boss without any potions.

Arena:
Your arena should look something like this.
Two layers of platforms(around 150 platform for each layer) with campfires for regen and torches for lightning. Feel free to build as many layers of platforms you want if you can't beat the Eye of Cthulhu.

Strategy:
The main strategy for beating the Eye of Cthulhu is running and poking him to death. You can avoid him by grappling onto the second layer.
The first phase is easy, you just need to get rid of the small eyes and deal damage to the big one.
The second phase, requires you to dodge his dashes.
For avoiding the dashes in an efficient way, you should go at the end/start of the platform when he is not dashing and start going to the other side of the platform when he starts dashing(he usually dash after the first or second charge, he will dash instantly if he is low hp).

Potions:

Arena:
Your arena should look something like this, making it easier to dodge his shots, and also the worm itself. But watch out! You don't want to build the arena too high so the boss will despawn.

Strategy:
The ideal fight with the Eater of Worlds is fighting him above ground, so you have more space.
In expert mode Eater of Worlds will shoot projectiles that inflict the Weak[terraria.gamepedia.com] debuff, thus, you will need to be careful and dodge the projectiles.

Finch Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena:
You can also make the arena outside if you spawn the boss with Bloody Spine[terraria.gamepedia.com], but watch out so you don't go too far from the surface, because the Brain will despawn.

Strategy:
In expert mode, during the first phase, the Creepers are much more aggressive and can inflict a variety of debuffs, so make sure to dodge them while dealing damage.
In second phase the brain will spawn clones of itself around the player, and as you deal more damage, the clones will become more visible(Summoned minions will damage the real Brain), and the Brain will become faster.

Flinx Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Finch Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Imp Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena:
You can either make the arena inside the hive or outside. Layer of platform every 5 or so blocks will do the trick and make a nice arena for fighting the Bee.
Strategy:
If you are fighting the Queen Bee inside the nest, make sure to jump in the honey from time to time, for the regen buff.
In expert mode, as Bee's Hp gets smaller and smaller, it will also become more and more aggressive(faster charges, shooting more stingers) and also gain defense.
The main strategy here is dodging the Bee at all costs while dealing damage. The Shield of Cthulhu[terraria.gamepedia.com] will help you with dodging, providing the ability to dash, and also grants invincibility for a couple of seconds, making it easier to stay alive while the Bee has less Hp.

Potions:

Arena:

You can either make a simple arena(right) or an arena using minecart tracks(left) to make a diamond-shaped roller coaster to avoid the Skeletron efficiently. Go at full speed and you should be fine.

Strategy:
In expert mode, the Skeletron has a lot more armor when its hands are alive, so aim for the hands, then you can focus on dealing damage to the skull.
After one of his hands is down, the boss will start shooting skulls, that can be avoided with a little curve. Therefore, you should kill both hands relatively at the same time.
The main strategy here is to dodge him at all costs while dealing damage. The spin attack must be dodged, because it can deal massive amount of damage.

Summon
Snapthorn[terraria.fandom.com]
Spinal Tap[terraria.fandom.com]
Imp Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Ballista[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena:
The simplest arena is a long bridge of about 750 blocks with some space above it for the player to maneuver. You can add Campfires[terraria.gamepedia.com] and Heart Lanterns[terraria.gamepedia.com] to provide some life regen. Also make sure to make some holes to drain the lava from lava slimes(they create lava when they die in expert mode).

You can also beat the boss using Water Walking Potion[terraria.gamepedia.com] so you don't have to make an arena, but watch out for the building, because they can block you from going further. You can also use Gravitation Potion[terraria.gamepedia.com] with Featherfall Potion[terraria.gamepedia.com], but this will mostly help you early in the fight because later the boss will be very fast.

Another alternative to beat the boss is to make an arena using Minecart Tracks[terraria.gamepedia.com] to avoid the Wall of Flesh.

Strategy:
In expert mode the boss gains more and more speed and will shoot the lasers faster(the damage will also be increased) as he is getting low hp and also Leeches[terraria.gamepedia.com] drop hearts less often than usual.
The eyes don't have defense, so aim for the eyes.
You should set up a few boulders at the beginning of the run and wire them to a Pressure plate in the course, so you can step on the pressure plate, and the Wall of Flesh gets hit by a few boulders, but them hitting you can seriously affect the battle, because they do a lot of damage. Explosives (or just thrown Dynamite) can be used in a similar manner for even greater damage
The main strategy here is dodging his shots and don't stop running(spoiler: you will die) while dealing damage.

Clockwork Assault Rifle[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Ichor Bullet[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Crystal Bullet[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Dart Pistol[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena

A really long slime bridge can be used to fight Queen Slime as the spawned slimes can be avoided with ease and the Queen is quite slow in her first phase.

Another arena idea is multiple layers of platforms. But in that case you have to be careful and focus on killing the spawned slimes.

Strategy

During the first phase you should focus on killing the slimes because they can be very overwhelming.(if you use the multiple layers of platforms)
If you use only one long skybridge the slimes will be left behind.
During the second phase your priority should be dodging, because she will occasionally shoot Regal Gel in 10 directions and attempt to fly and drop on top of the player.
During this phase it's quite impossible to outrun her.

Clockwork Assault Rifle[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Ichor Bullet[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Crystal Bullet[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Dart Pistol[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena:
A very long bridge made out of Asphalt[terraria.gamepedia.com] or Frozen Slime[terraria.gamepedia.com] using boots for speed is an optimal solution for beating the boss(but be careful to not despawn by going too far away).

You can also make a simple arena with multiple layers of platform to help you dodge the boss's attacks.

Another option is to make an arena using Minecart Tracks[terraria.gamepedia.com].

Strategy:
The main strategy is to dodge them at all costs while dealing damage.
You can dodge the boss using boots, wings[terraria.gamepedia.com](the best wings you can get are the Leaf Wings wich are sold by the Witch Doctor[terraria.gamepedia.com] at night in jungle) and hook to grab onto platform.
The Retinazer(the red eye) shoots lasers as you(slower in first phase and faster as he loses health), so, if you want to avoid the lasers efficiently you have to fall or fly when the Retinazer shoots lasers very fast using wings.
The Spazmatism(the green eye) will fire Cursed Flames at you and engage in charging attacks in first phase. In the second phase Spazmatism will charge very fast at you, you can dodge the attacl by either flying/falling or just running if he comes from above, and the Cursed Flames become a stream of flame. Spazmatism's attacks are slower(except for the charge attack), but deal more damage than Retinazer, and the debuff will deal damage overtime and will stop life regeneration.

On which to defeat first, you can kill The Retinazer first because it fires lasers fast that are hard to doge or you can kill The Spazmatism because of its massive damage output and you can focus on dodging The Retinazer.
Players generally kill Spazmatism first.

Ichor Bullet[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Crystal Bullet[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Dart Pistol[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena:
You can make a simple arena like the Eater of Worlds one. Multiple layers of platforms that will help you dodge his attacks.

You can also make a box 150 blocks above the ground so The Destroyer and his lasers won't reach you and the only threat will be the Probes[terraria.gamepedia.com].

Another arena example is a long platform where you can run from The Destroyer while dealing damage.

Strategy:
The only thing added in expert mode is his stats and also what out for the head because it can deal a lot of damage.
The fight is similar to The Eater of Worlds one, but The Destroyer not only he shoots lasers but he also spawn Probes[terraria.gamepedia.com] as he is taking damage. The Probes has a 33% chance of dropping hearts and you can play around that, but be careful to not get hit by the boss itself.
Weapons that can hit multiple segments at once are the best choice because they can deal more damage.

Ichor Bullet[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Crystal Bullet[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Dart Pistol[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena:
A simple arena should be enough to beat the boss. The arena will have multiple layers of platfroms(about 50 blocks long each) with https://terraria.gamepedia.com/Campfires] Campfires, Heart Lantern[terraria.gamepedia.com] and banners.

Strategy:
In expert mode, the boss has only stats increased(42000 Hp, 70 Damage, 158 Spinning Damage)
The most dangerous parts of the boss are The Vice and The Laser because The Vice, despite dealing less damage than The Saw, it is more aggressive and can deal a lot of damage during the spinning phase. The Laser can be a threat because it requires the player to dodge the lasers, which can be annoying.
The Cannon can be dodged because the bombs will fall through the platform(make sure to make the platform high enough).
The Saw, although it deals more damage than The Vice, has a predictable pattern and can be easily dodged.
If you want to play it safe, just kill his parts and than focus the head.
While the head is spinning it has double armor and also double damage and the limbs will be more aggressive, so watch out.

Life Drain[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Daedalus Stormbow[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena:
Your arena should look like this. A simple arena made of a couple of layers of platfroms with a hole what is as deep as your arena's height and you will stick to the top half to avoide the Thorn Balls that will bounce off of solid blocks. Also make sure to not make the arena too big, because you will make a regular cavern[terraria.gamepedia.com] and the Plantera will be enraged, making the fight much more harder.
You can also add Campfires[terraria.gamepedia.com], Heart Lanterns[terraria.gamepedia.com], Banners and also if you have the Party Girl[terraria.gamepedia.com] you can use Bubbles[terraria.gamepedia.com] where you put honey to boost life regen. but be careful because the honey will slow you.

Strategy:
In expert mode, the plantera has greater stats (42000 Hp) and nearly double the damage on everything.
The main startegy is to dodge the boss while dealing damage to her. In order to do that you need to make a large enough arena to dodge safely the attack but not too large so that there will not be an underground jungle.
Range players should kill the tentacles as soon as they see it, because of the low defence of the range class you can get caught easily and die quite fast.

Potions:

Arena:
Clear out as much as you can from the traps(use the Wire Cutter[terraria.gamepedia.com]). You can also make layers of platforms to help you kill the Golem.
Lihzahrd and Flying Snake BannerFlying Snake Banners can be useful since they will still spawn during the fight.
Teleporters[terraria.gamepedia.com] can also be useful to dodge its attacks while going from side to side.

Strategy:
Go for the hands first and then his head while focusing on dodging(especially in phase 2).
If you want a more specific strategy you can to the following:
Make a vertical wall, but put a 3 block gap at the bottom and top so you can get in and out. Also build a horizontal line (with blocks, not platforms) with a 3 block gap somewhere along with it. The horizontal line should stop at the vertical line. When Golem spawns, he should jump up on the horizontal platform, but not go back down. This allows you to hit him continuously (Death Sickle[terraria.gamepedia.com] highly approved). This also allows you to kill him fast.

Another strategy is to use the bunny cannon since it does a lot of damage(350), but be careful to not hit yourself. You can also create an spot where the Golem doesn't reach you and just fire away the explosives bunnies.

Potions:

Arena:
Your arena should be made out of layers of Asphalt Blocks[terraria.gamepedia.com](about 20 blocks height distance and a gap to maneuver) that covers the ocean, so the boss will not be enraged. The arena should be tall, in order to avoid the bosses tornado.

Strategy:
In expert mode, Duke Fishron will transform again when he reaches 9000 Hp, making the background darker and making him invisible except for his glowing eyes. The boss will only attack using charge attacks that comes in a set pattern: Duke Fishron will teleport behind the player, he will successively charge once, then twice, and finally three times before the pattern resets.
The main strategy here is to never stop moving while dealing damage to the boss and also avoiding his attacks at all costs.

Potions:

Arena:
It is recommended to build a wide arena for the Empress in order to dodge her attacks if you don't have an infinite flying mount. Also the arena can be build anywhere because in expert the Empress will always be enraged, for example you can fight her in the ocean so you have a large open space to move around.
You can also use teleporters[terraria.gamepedia.com] to avoid getting overwhelmed by her attacks.

Strategy:
One strategy is to build a minecart rail around the whole world and since you are in expert mode you have the Mechanical Cart[terraria.gamepedia.com] available so you are much faster. You can also use booster tracks[terraria.gamepedia.com] to gain top speed faster.
If you don't want to build a minecart rail, you can also just make a skybridge with asphalt[terraria.gamepedia.com], but you still have to dodge some attacks.
If you don't want any of the strategies mentioned above you can just build multiple layers of platforms or just fight her with a flying mount.

Staff of the Frost Hydra[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Sanguine Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]
Raven Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]

Potions:

Arena:
You don't need a really fancy arena. A couple of layers of platform should be enough.
The optimal fight should be above the ground, using The UFO Mount[terraria.gamepedia.com] for mobility.

Strategy:
In expert mode the boss will spawn Ancient Doom[terraria.gamepedia.com] when he is below 50% Hp. Also the stats are increased.
The main strategy for beating the Lunatic Cultist is to dodge his attacks and to deal damage.
The boss has a fixed attack pattern:
 • A rotating ball of ice that fires six shards at equal intervals before disappearing
 • Three homing fireballs that explode on impact
 • A stationary orb similar to the Magnet Sphere that summons streaks of lightning in a straight line.
After performing 4 or 5 attacks the boss will create duplicates of himself. If you hit the duplicate it will spawn a Phantasm Dragon or a Ancient Vision if the Dragon is already spawned. Also next time he will duplicate, there will be more decoys.
If you have trouble finding the true Lunatic Cultist during his duplicating phase, then pay attention to his eyes and the yellow line on his hood.

The left one is the real Lunatic Cultist, and the right one is a decoy.

Pillar Order

You can go to destroy the Stardust Pillar to craft the Stardust Dragon Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com] that will help you beat the other pillars.
You can also go for the respective pillar for your preferred combat class.
Also you have to kill 150 enemies instead of 100, since you are in expert mode.

Stardust Pillar

One strategy is to build a box for you to say in and attack the enemies from there using yoyos, minions or weapons that can go through blocks in general . Also make the walls 2 blocks thick, since most of the enemies cannot penetrate it, except for the Milkyway Weavers(the worm).
Another strategy is to attract Star Cells[terraria.gamepedia.com] away from the pillar, kill them, let them divide and wait for them to grow back. Repeat the process until the pillar's shield is down.

Vortex Pillar

One of the simplest strategies is to just dig a 2*4 hole under the Pillar and just attack upward since almost no enemies can get into the whole.
Or you can just go full on berserk mode and make them go extinct, but be careful because the enemies projectiles can cause you to lose control, thus making you vulnerable.

Nebula Pillar

One easy strategy is to just build a small box in the air(you can make it high enough so the ground beasts won't spawn). Because the enemies cannot kill you, they are force to ram, making them easy to kill with wall penetrating attacks and minions.
But if you choose to kill them outside, make sure to keep on moving while dodging the Nebula Floater's[terraria.gamepedia.com] lasers(those are too accurate and deal too much damage).

Solar Pillar

Since the Crawltipedes[terraria.gamepedia.com] will not allow you to fight the enemies in the air it's a good idea to use the Ice Rod[terraria.gamepedia.com] to quickly go to in the air and place an ice block behind you. After the block is placed you can use it to further expand with blocks, so the Crawltipedes[terraria.gamepedia.com] won't focus you and you can kill the ground enemies.
If you have beaten the Stardust Pillar, you can use the Stardust Dragon Staff to make the job easier. Build a box up in the air and spawn the dragon. It will kill most of the enemies, while you have to protect yourself from the Corites[terraria.gamepedia.com](meteorites), since they can go through walls and hurt you.

Potions:

Arena:
The making of the arena can be skipped if you use the Cosmic Car Key[terraria.gamepedia.com], or any infinite flying mount in general.(since you are in expert you can get the Shrimpy Truffle[terraria.gamepedia.com] and the Which's Broom[terraria.gamepedia.com])
If you don't have any of these or just want to build an arena you can make a long skybridge(out of platforms or even Asphalt[terraria.gamepedia.com]) to dodge Moon Lord's attacks. Any dashing items(Shield of Cthulhu[terraria.gamepedia.com] or Master Ninja Gear[terraria.gamepedia.com])
Or you can just make a long Minecart Track[terraria.gamepedia.com] and ride the Mechanical Cart[terraria.gamepedia.com]. If you use this strategy though, make sure to hammer the end of the track so you will bounce back.

Strategy:
Shrimpy Truffle Strategy
You can build a large water area(100x20) for the Cute Fishron to get the greatly increase mobility and eventually to make it easier to dodge Moon Lord's attacks.(Since you are using Cute Fishron you can change your mobility items with damage ones).
Or you can just simply wait for it to rain. In 1.4 rain will also enrage your mount, thus, giving you more space to beat the Moon Lord.

Nurse strategy
Yes, you heard it correctly, the almighty nurse strategy. Build a house for the nurse, turn on autopause so it will be easier to heal and not die, eventually put a bed in that house so every time you are dying you can use any recall item to go back to your beloved nurse and heal up.(NOTE: In 1.4 healing is quite expensive so you better have a lot of money to burn).
Or you can just be a coward and get a summon(such as the Stardust Dragon Staff[terraria.gamepedia.com]) and just stay in the house while the minion deal the damage while you are healing up.

The Hoik Method
If the Nurse start didn't worked out, I have another strategy for beating the Moon Lord with ease. Although this strategy will get you the win guaranteed, it is very time consuming.
Oh, you're wondering how to use the strategy? Here's the link.[one-manindie.com]

The End
Hey! Congratulations if you beat the Moon Lord and finished Terraria in expert mode!
Did my guide helped you? Leave a like and a comment and tell all your Terraria playing friends about this guide.

Fun fact about this guide: I started it one year ago(A week or two before 1.4 was released) but I was too unmotivated to finish it. But at least i finally finished it.

And yes, this guide can be improved and if I see support and I see it's actually worth updating the guide I will.(e.g. making tables instead of lists)

Anyways, I sincerely thank you for checking out my guide and I hope it helped. Cheers!

Also here is a link to another guide I made about beating normal mode.

i play a lot of master mode and i agree with most of this guide. however there is an easier way to beat eater of worlds. very simple and quick. build a 10x10 box in the underground corruption, spawn him in and jump on him with slimy saddle and hit him with a ball o hurt. it is fast and you dont get hit by vile spit.

Ah, I see. Also I always use the Cosmic Car Key to fight the Moon Lord and I agree, the Rod of Discord is very useful, but it's so rare I don't even bother to try and get it.
