Description
Adds helicopters for your pawns in the game.

NOTE:
* LOAD THIS MOD UNDER THE SRTS MOD TO AVOID POSSIBLE ERRORS
* IF YOU MERGE TWO OR MORE HELICOPTER CARAVANS, you will lose a helicopter if launched on a map. Be sure to split them into separate caravans for each aircraft before returning to base/performing a raid, you cannot use one to carry another for now due to coding reasons.

- Westland Lynx (3rd fastest aircraft in mod)

- AH-1Z Viper (2nd fastest aircraft in mod)
- CH-46 Sea Knight
- CH-47 Chinook
- V-22 Osprey (Fastest aircraft) (3rd highest payload in mod)
- CH-53 Super Stallion (2nd highest max payload in mod)
- Mi-26 Halo (Highest max payload)


What do the helicopters do?
They fly you to places and blow things up; They can be used for caravans and trading with other factions. Each helicopter has their own fuel efficiency, they come in various shapes and sizes that affect their speed and carrying capacity. Each helicopter has seating limits written in their description. Some helicopters are designed for transporting and heavy lifting, while some are for fast hitting bomb runs.

You can use these to perform raids or to travel to places, depending on your helicopter you can also perform bomb runs or precision bombing (Close Air Support) thanks to the features added by Smash Phil for SRTS.

Helicopters also explode when damaged, their blast radius depends on how much fuel was inside it. Be sure you have acceptable fire safety procedures in your base.

Because they can be used for caravan, you can perform CASEVAC (Casualty Evacuation) and heal your wounded in the world once you've sent the helicopter off the in-game map. You can also move large quantities of items with ease, very useful for any situation.

Helicopters require research in the Red Horse tab, depending on what you wish to build you may need a pawn with high construction skills, lots of steel and plasteel and the rare spacer components.


Other things added we need to know about?
- Hellfire Warheads, tradeable and produceable midworld tech warhead designed for these helicopters. It was based on the "AGM-114 Hellfire Missiles" however since technically I cannot make a laser guided missile, and for compatibility's sake with other SRTS aircraft and mortars, it's a warhead, not the missile it's based on.

It uses Modern Warfare 2019 Hellfire Missile sound effects, as all choppers have their own custom helicopter SFX

Possible issues?
* You can merge choppers into one caravan in the world map, but once you enter a base make sure the helicopters are in separate caravans or else you will lose one. It's something to be fixed by Smash Phil later.
* You can't load prisoners into the chopper unless they have a designated prisoner bed somewhere since the "Pod" behaviour won't recognise them as a prisoner, just like items in the map that aren't in stockpile, it gets omitted. Make sure you turn the nearest room into a quick prison with sleeping spots if beds aren't available, and just set up a stockpile anywhere near the chopper
* If you extract someone near-death (I.E. 2 hours left to live) without patching them up first, they may die on the helicopter once it flies. I call it the "heart attack" feature, it's present in vanilla drop pods, something about the pawns with weakened bodies not being able to handle going up in the air. I hope it's something SRTS team fixes later but as of now it's a hard-coded vanilla feature.
* You can load unconscious pawns in the helicopter to exceed seating limits, they don't count as a seat as long as they don't cross the chopper's mass capacity.
*"Depends on SRTS Expanded version>= 0,0,0, version 1.4 is loaded." Ignore this message if possible, just make sure your SRTS mod is up to date and loaded above this mod

Changes from 1.0 version:
- None of the 1.0 bugs present, no more having to take out items from your inventory
- No more disappearing helicopter on edge
- Attack Helicopters added
- Helicopters have their varying speed and fuel consumption rates
- Helicopters now have different views
- Helicopters now have seating limits
- Choppers have their more custom SFX
- Unfortunately one side effect, I cannot manually change the logo in the world map so we'll have to wait till Smash Phil allows the option to have a generic world logo for helicopters in flight
- Aeroplanes, Jets and DeLorean removed. Get to the Chopper! only has choppers now, they may return later on their own mods.
- Rimefeller compatibility

Combat Extended Compatible?
- Reported to work with Combat Extended.

SRTS framework bans CE mortar shells when CE is enabled, you can only use the Hellfire warhead from this mod. Using other shells won't drop them in bomb runs.

FAQ: How do I do bomb runs?
- Load a shell or warhead under the "Mortar Shell" category and you will see an option to do bomb runs when the aircraft is ready to launch.

Hey guys. Mod is abandoned.

There is a mod made by ELIF that is way better, I highly recommend it. You have animated rotors and all the cool stuff, it's what I wanted with this mod but seeing as she's done a solid job I felt no need to continue this mod.

If in the future a proper vehicles system comes out and I can create my own rotating fans without having to rip off ELIF's code, then I'll consider remaking the mod. For now, please respect my decision to let sleeping helicopters lie
