Edit: As of 02-Mar-2020 The devs have pushed a fix for this bug :) Go have fun.

This guide is for the public beta of Black Mesa. In this version and all lower ones, due to missing and broken achievement triggers in certain maps in "Interloper" the data for Vortigaunt deaths isn't being written correctly. We'll bypass that below.

The way to do it is simple, Follow these steps:

1. Locate your game's install directory (usually "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Black Mesa").
2. open the "bms" folder.
3. locate "gamestate.txt" and open it.
4. Find the following lines and replace them with this (the important value is the one after "data"):

"id" "28"
"value" "0"
"data" "0x0000000001111110"
"hud" "0"
"msg" "0"

5. Save the file and close it.
6. Start the game and play the "interloper" chapter from start until the end of the Vortigaunt village.

The achievement should unlock for you.

Alternatively just wait for the devs to patch the maps and it should unlock normally.

I deleted the gamestate I had (because it didn't have the id "28"), started the game, and checked the file again. I replaced according to these instructions, and worked for me. Thank you!

Thank you so much @12345, it worked here. If anyone is interested, the second elevator is after you defeat the Controllers that spawn on the top floor of village.

Finally get the achievement, go to the second elevator. Quicksave it before entering the elevator. Exit the game. Change the value to 0x0000000001111110 and restart game and quickload and you will be already in elevator and after exit elevator the achievement popups.

sadly the safest way is to delete gamestate.txt and try to do them again :( sorry

i have 6/7 and pretty sure i didnt kill vortiguants, is there a way to see which one is went wrong?

OK I found a solution. I deleted txt file, than, when file occurred, I pasted this "0x0000000001111110" line, and repalyed the segment requested for achievment. It popped up in elevator.

@silver4ever the devs fixed it. simply delete gamestate.txt and do it normally.
