Well, actually i think, that it was meant to do it another Way. Well Iff you get the Gigurom try to get it to the Sektor AL VA 3. Iff that is not possible because you've lost the Gigurom or, sold it directly like me, damnit, just get to the Sector AL VA 2 & get youreself a Rahanas (Container). So iff you havnt messed up you're Relations to Wholesome Foods (AL VA 3) you should be able to buy the 300 Rations. For that you will have to join up with the Containership or Gigurom & use the Station Outlet. You can buy up to 2000 iff you want to, the Canterans will buy them for a good Price. It will take it's Time for the Ship to get in trading Position but it works. Now just back to DeVries and Touchdown.

This was on release day, I think subsequent patches may have broken it for the moment. Mine only completed by me leaving the zone and waiting for the com message that it was complete.
My best suggestion is maybe finding the station in the savegame file and editing in 300 rations. If you're unsure try the Egosoft forum on how to go about it:-

what should I do in the 300 food rations mission?
I already cheated cargolifters in the ships, but it is still not working.
