Escalation - How to do them all - Solo
By Gaelica
This is a video run through of all 4 Escalation maps. The difference in this guide is that it will be showing how to do the runs as a single player rather than a 4 bot group.

Which Bot?
For solo runs, in my opinion the only way to go is the bot with the shield.

Megatron
Optimus Prime
Quake
Cliffjumper

Yes you have to spend more credits on ammo but you are in much greater control of your health which is essential for surviving on your own.

Am not saying its not possible to do on the other Bots.... i just find it easier for solo purposes.
Oblivion
In this Escalation map you will be playing as Megatron (if you are taking my advice on the shield)

The key to surviving is movement.

Get the doors opened as quickly as possible and never fight in one place for extended periods of time. This ensures that you wont get boxed in by the autobots and hit by multiple fields of fire.

Moving also allows you to "kite" the shotgunners so that they are not blasting you in the back when you least expect it.

Try not to focus the heavy machine gunners first. they are slow moving and easily avoided.... Take out the soft targets first and as quickly as possible.

This is all explained in the videos below.... enjoy and good luck in your own attempts

Downfall
In this Escalation map you should be playing as Quake (for solo run purposes only)

The key to surviving Downfall on a solo run is in the first 6 attack waves....... you must stay inside the starting area... this is important because in Downfall it takes alot of credits to open enough doors in order to "kite" easily.

Staying inside the starting location means you will have to look after your health extremly well...this is were Quakes shield comes in to effect. Dont forget to transform to tank mode often in order to decrease your hit box and enable your shields to regenerate.

After wave 6 you will have enough credits to open enough doors for movement. Then just follow the same guide lines as in Oblivion.

The videos below will show how it is done.... Have fun and good luck on your own atttempts.

Ancients
In this Escalation you will be playing as a tough little Bot called Cliffjumper (solo run)

For survival in Ancients, you must really look after your credits...you will need gravity Bombs. To this extent you must use every ounce of ammo at your disposal. So when you purchase ammo, you need to use all the subsonic and the car form ammo before purchasing more.

Dont forget to Jump! this should be easy for cliff as it is part of his name!.....Insecticons will not attack as long as you are in the air (Robot form only), use this to your advantage and "waste em".

Do not stay in one spot, if you get cornered its gameover. Fight on the move and take out the shotgunners and snipers ASAP.

Get the main doors up to the upgrade computer opened as quickly as possible - never upgrade more than level one when doing it on your own..........we need Gravity bombs. these cost 2000 credits each and have a 3 wave spawn rate... if you do it right you should be able to get 3 of them in total for the run. make sure you purchase one on wave 12 to use in wave 14.......another bomb will respawn for wave 15 making these last 2 waves that little bit easier.

More information is provided in the video below ....enjoy and good luck on your own Runs!

Ignition
In this Escalation map you should be playing as Optimus prime (solo run)

If you do this right "One shall stand" but hopefully many many cons will Fall!

Dont forget to shoot Starscream in the Gears!

The key to this map is geting ALL the doors opened as quickly as possible. This map takes the "kiting" to a whole new level.

Stand on the boxes on the floor for the first few waves...the mellee mobs cant hit you and you will save ammo by using rockets in truck form for aoe kills

Open all the doors on one side first in order to give yourself an upper and a lower level area for kiting to keep those cons on the move.

Like in Ancients - there is the gavity bomb.... you wont get as many because you have alot more doors to open..... but you can get 2 for the 14th and 15th wave if you do it right, however if you get in trouble.. just use it.. better to live by killing a few cons with it than to die and waste 2000 credits on nothing - like i stupidly did in the video below :)

Remember you must have purchased the first gravity bomb before wave 12 or the second bomb wont have respawned for the final wave.

In this video i failed at most of what i just said... but we got there lol...Enjoy and good luck on your own runs!

Summary
To finish of i just wish to stress this guide is for normal difficulty SOLO action. Playing in a group is very different.

When in a four man group it is very important to follow these basic guidelines....

Work together to open the doors - dont be a cheapo with your cedits

Healers - dont pick the healer if you dont want to heal the group...... HEAL all the time, not just when your team mate has been downed!.... stay in the middle of the group and heal who ever is nearest the battle. If you keep your healing beam on a team member they can survive almost anything for the length of the ability. You also get healed when healing your team mates.

Ammo Bots - always use the ammo dome for your allies not just when you need ammo... this includes during the waves, not just inbetween them. The more ammo you supply means the less ammo you and your allies will have to purchase..enabling the Group to quickly open doors and Upgrade the computer to increase all weapon effectiveness.

Shield bots - in a group you still have an important job.. if the healer gets downed..activate your shield then revive him....your shield will take all the damage while you reviving him. The shield bots job is to look after the healer! Plus the more you use your sheild the less health you will need and the healer can heal the other members of your team.

Clutch Bots - It is an extra gun...why would you not use it all the time.......but more than this it is an early warning system, if you place it above your team.. it will shoot at the nearest enemy and will alert you of shotgunners and others sneaking up behind you.

Upgrade Computer - in a four Bot group it is very easy to upgrade all your weapons to level 4 if the group is not selfish with their credits. Inbetween every wave go and UPGRADE the computer to make yourselves stronger

I hope you have enjoyed this guide and that it will help you leave a trail of Robot wrecks behind you.

Please fell free to post comments and rate this guide..... so i can improve or stop making them.. whatever the case may be lol.

Working on old achievements, just finished Oblivion. Followed a slightly different strategy, but your video helped me figure it out (I never played Escalation when it was relevant, so this mode is completely alien to me). Working on Ancients now. Thanks for the tips. :)

How do you play the maps solo? Is there an option somewhere?

I find that this guide was helpful, but there really isnt a way to play 4 players unless u get friends,,,,, which is very hard since people dont play Escalation in a hurry :steamsad:
