Heavy Duty 8x8 Truck Platform

Descrição
This is a heavy duty 8 wheel drive truck platform intended for other players, such as yourself, to build you own trucks with without having to sort out the mechanical and technical side part of the truck, the only thing that is missing is a body.

You are free to use this vehicle (or part of) in your own workshop creations, although please give credit if you do.

This vehicle is packed with features so it can form the best possible basis to design a truck with:

Powertrain
  • Medium Engine
  • 8 speed Automatic
  • 160km/h or 100mph top speed (unloaded)
  • 2800L fuel capacity
  • 8WD with a lever to adjust the torque to the front axle anywhere from 0% (vehicle is 4WD, only sending power to rear axles) to 50% (50/50 torque split)
  • PRND shifter
  • Manual Mode, shift gears with the up and down arrow keys (transmission will only override if the engine is close to stalling)
  • Shift override; manually shifting gears while in automatic mode will override the transmission for 5 seconds after the last manual gear change
  • Low Range
  • Eco Mode; Keeps engine RPS lower to improve fuel economy. Reduces top speed.
  • Reverse beeper (can be disabled at the rear behind the tow hitch)
  • Hill-hold; holds the brakes while stationary on a hill so the vehicle does not roll backwards while in Drive or forwards while in Reverse
  • Automatically adjusting clutch
  • Basic Cruise Control
  • Limp mode; if the engine is above 100 degrees Celsius, Eco Mode is automatically engaged to prevent overheating. Disables itself once the engine is below 70.
  • Clutch-driven Alternator; automatically draws only the power required to maintain the battery charge from the generator.
  • Impact detection; If the vehicle detects a front impact, it automatically sets the hazard lights, cuts fuel to the engine, and applies the brakes

Note: Adding a body and/or changing to high grip tires will reduce the top speed. Adjust the final drive (first ratio of rearmost center gearbox in the main transmission, NOT the gearbox that attaches to the generator) to account for the lower speed.

Cockpit
    Seat Controls
  • W/S: Throttle/Brake
  • A/D: Steering; 8 wheel speed sensitive steering (less sensitive as speed increases to improve stability). Additionally, at low speeds, the rear axles turn the opposite way to the front to reduce turn radius, at high speeds they turn with the front wheels (at a lower percentage of steering input to improve stability).
  • Left/Right: Turn signals; tap once to set the signal, tap again to cancel.
  • Up/Down: Manual gear shifter; changes what gear the transmission is in
  • 1: Moves the PRND shifter upwards
  • 2: Moves the PRND shifter downwards
  • 3: Cruise Control Toggle
  • 4: Transmission manual mode toggle (prevents transmission from shifting itself)

    Dashboard
  • Push to start
  • Master Power; connects the battery to the rest of the vehicle's power grid
  • Cruise Control
  • Seat chime; Plays a noise if you exit the seat without the vehicle being in Park or don't have the handbrake engaged. Use this switch to turn it off. Warning light for it located nearby.
  • Automatic headlights, turns on the lights when it gets dark and turns them off again the next morning. Default on, press button to disable it
  • High Beams; This also engages spotlights at the rear if the vehicle is in reverse
  • Low Beams; manual input if you have the auto lights turned off.
  • Eco Mode
  • Low Range
  • Hazard lights
  • Handbrake; locks the rear axles in place and sets the clutch to netural
  • PRND Shifter (Note, you cannot move the shifter unless the brakes are applied).
  • Torque split selector
  • Clock
  • Engine Cover. Inside the cover, you will also find a button for the fuel cutoff, and a button for the fire extinguisher for the engine.

    Dials

Note: Some of the display units are adjustable. Select the grey microcontroller behind the generator to to adjust the speed (km/h (default), m/s, mph, or kts), temperature (C (default) or F) and fuel (Percentage (default), litres, gallons). You will have to manually adjust the range on the dial to match your new units.

  • Handbrake indicator
  • Tempurature
  • Battery Voltage
  • Fuel

  • RPM

  • Left and Right indicator
  • Headlight indicator
  • High beam indicator

  • Speed

  • Drive Mode
  • Manual Mode Indicator
  • Current Gear
  • Low Range Indicator

  • GPS, Reverse camera (when reverse is engaged)

Exterior features
  • Front and rear tow hitches
  • Low beams (Doesn't blind pedestrians or vehicles in front of it)
  • High beams
  • turn signals front/side/rear
  • brake lights
  • Reverse lights
  • Reverse spotlights (when both reverse and high beams are engaged)
  • Headlight running lights; side orange lights, rear brake lights, licence plate lights
  • Fuel port; displays current fuel in litres with a fluid connector, with buttons to engage pumps to pump fuel on or off the vehicle
  • Electrical connector; Displays the current battery charge and generator output. If you need to make even more power than what can be supplied at idle, such as charging another vehicle, set the transmission to idle, apply the handbrake, redline the engine and set cruise control and that will produce maximum electrical power. There is an override on the panel to lock the clutch to fully engaged as the auto-clutch behaves funky when charging another grid when the onboard battery is fully charged.
  • Equipment stowage compartment

Additional notes:
  • The dashboard, cockpit floor and engine compartment are sealed surfaces. If you build an enclosed cab over it with watertight doors the cockpit will be watertight.
  • If you desire to make a snorkel, the air intakes for the engine are located beside the radiators on either side.
  • Pipes are colour-coded to function in case you need to modify them. Yellow = Power, Brown = Fuel, Blue = Water, Gray = Exhaust
  • The battery voltage will fluctuate between 11.98 and 12 volts. Don't really know why it does that but it's normal.

So Really All I Needs Is A Cab / Body?

Butiful i give it a 10 out of 10 and a award!

Yep, but most people don't so I assume nobody checks there.

do you know that you can list updates here? http://prntscr.com/q4krgh

Update 1/12/2019

* Reworked generator (again). Did some extensive trial and error and worked out the steep gear ratio was reducing the RPM to much. Adjusted the ratio to 9:5 which seems to be the best balance of RPM and gearing, now makes ~202 SWatts instead of ~85 at max RPM.

* Added a toggle button to lock the clutch to the generator to max clutch. The auto-clutch on the alternator apparently doesn't work well when charging something attached to another grid, it would reduce clutch input as soon as the onboard battery was charged then hover around 50-60 SWatt of power generation regardless of the status of the other grid. This button locks the clutch to fully on to prevent this. You can use this while driving, but it is not recommended as it reduces the speed/acceleration of the vehicle.

Just got around Testing it. Works Great. Gonna see if I can build something good on top of it.

Update 29/11/2019

* Reworked clutch system to be independent of the seat axis and instead related to the engine RPS. Will automatically compensate for any load or hill while being less complex than it was before

* Removed the small hybrid system as it's redundant with the upgraded clutch system

* Reworked low range to be tighter as the other ratio was accidentally left in from a previous build

----

* Changed the gear ratio to the generator to 1:3 to enable the generator make more power.

* Removed the high power mode from the generator controls as it is now unnecessary with the removal of the hybrid system

* Reworked the generator control panel to be more compact
