LIF Forest Village - How to properly activate/deactivate mods
By eien no shikaku 永遠の刺客
Hello Feudals!

LIF Forest Village doesn't work with mods like the majority of games available on Steam. It requires some work before you can play modded game happily ever after. This is why I decided to make a short and useful guide for players who want to play modded game and yet their games are crashing when they try :)

First steps
First of all - you can subscribe to mods via Steam or via in-game. Personally I do recommend to subscribe to mods via Steam and to read first mods descriptions (when seeing mod in-game you'll see only a little part of mod description and it's so short that it doesn't contain all of needed information). This way you'll know how each mod interacts with your game and what's to be expected. It might sound boring but most of players problems with well-made mods is not reading mods description and not mods themselves.... So read! See what Author tells you about his/hers work :)
Later on it will benefit you and prevent from unnecessary waste of your time while figuring out what's not working like it supposed to.

Second, many games on Steam give you possibility to activate chosen mod right away and use them without worrying about consequences. Forest Village doesn't offer that. You need to remember about it when activating or deactivating your mods so follow strictly steps posted at the end of this guide and if you need help with mods you can either post your issue on supporting group: https://steamproxy.net/groups/forestvillagegameandmodssupport or e-mail me directly using eiennoshikakufv@gmail.com or forestvillage.sprt@gmail.com.

Another important rule to follow when using mods - remember that some of mods require other mods to work like intended, and they need to be placed according to specific Load Order. Try to use only mods that are recommended, supported and up to date. Do not use mods from Authors that are no longer active. If you can't find mod that you want to add to your game or you founded it and it's outdated then you can always request for new one, either on supporting group: https://steamproxy.net/groups/forestvillagegameandmodssupport or e-mail me directly using eiennoshikakufv@gmail.com or forestvillage.sprt@gmail.com.

***** If your game is still crashing when starting your adventure with modded game, please send your log file from your game - instruction how to do it: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1638396595 using direct contact: eiennoshikakufv@gmail.com or forestvillage.sprt@gmail.com. I usually reply the same day (European time).

Subscribing to mods via Steam Workshop
1. Subscribe to mod or mods via Steam Workshop.

Mods will be downloaded right away after you launch your game and saved to mods folder: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Life is Feudal Forest Village\mods (letter for hard disk might be different on your PC).
2. Launch your game.
3. Open Modifications button.

4. After you open Modifications you'll see all of mods you subscribed to via Steam Workshop.
3. Choose mods you want to use in your game and mark them as active (with green check mark).

4. Choose proper options in mods you subscribed to (the ones you want to use).

5. Order your mods in specific load order if it's needed (for connected mods).
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8mgypdz1jd0o87r/Life%20is%20feudal%20-%20mod%20order.xlsx?dl=0
6. Close your game.
7. Launch it again.
8. Now you can play modded game! ;)

Subscribing to mods via in-game
1. Launch your game.
2. Open Modifications button.

3. Open Browse Workshop button.

4. Use tools to browse Steam Workshop (you can sort mods in few different ways).
5. Subscribe to mods via in-game by marking them with green check mark.

6. Choose proper options in mods you subscribed to (the ones you want to use).
6. Order your mods in specific load order if it's needed (for connected mods).
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8mgypdz1jd0o87r/Life%20is%20feudal%20-%20mod%20order.xlsx?dl=0
7. Close your game.
8. Launch it again.
9. Now you can play modded game! ;)
Deactivating mods
The last thing - some mods can't be just deactivated whenever you want to do it (if you want to play the same save game file). This applies to all of mods introducing to the vanilla game new resources. To deactivate this type of mods first you need to empty your barns and houses (new food mods) and connected production buildings from resources introduced by this specific mod you want to stop using. It's recommended also to demolish building which produced introduced resources.

If you want to start fresh with another village you can safely deactivate unwanted mods and play, but remember to check first if they aren't connected with other mods :)

Enjoy your game then! :)))
Author's notes
*** Please note this guide is only for players with original copy of the game and with free access to Steam Workshop.

*** Do not use exterior sites with mods (most of them were downloaded from Steam without Authors knowledge/permission and there is no certainty they're compatible with latest game build).

*** Remember that mods provided at Steam Workshop by recommended, active and supporting Authors are made to work with latest game build and they're regularly updated.

Feel free to share your thoughts with me :)

None of mods listed at Recommended Mods List are outdated. This includes also all of my mods which are fully compatible with latest game version. Next time please be more specific and don't post plain "mod outdated". Game shows this every time when you mess up with mods load order or mods options. It's standard msg left by devs who didn't care to customize error messages to inform properly.
Check your mods. Cheers.

You did not - game is crashing because of poorly chosen options in Bowyers and Fletchers Workshop MOD and connection with Guards Guards MOD. Please read mod description and choose proper option.

If it does check out how to send log file - I will need to see data from your game to know what is the issue.
