A Bounty Hunter build: The Gun Kata Cleric.
By Capra Aegagrus Hircus
A very fun build build based around the brace of pistols on the Bounty Hunter, run ahead of your team while blasting all elites that have the misfortune of being encountered by you.

The most important part of the build is the increased movement speed on ranged crits, which allows you to run ahead of your team: you'll be literally running and gunning, rushing ahead guns blazing. Because you are ahead of your team, you don't have to be afraid of teamhitting and enemies wil generally coming towards you in a straight line rather than running perpendicular of you towards a teammate.

TALENTS

LVL 5 => THP ON MELEE CRITS AND/OR HEADSHOTS: Since you'll be using your pistols to deal with almost all elites, thp on melee kills is quite useless. THP on crits is, in combination with the rapier, a very good thp source since you swing fast and most attacks start from above.

LVL 10 => 20% EXTRA DAMAGE TO ENEMIES YOU CRIT: allows you to kind of act like a witch hunter captain.

LVL 15 => 7% EXTRA POWER: since this is a range focussed build, this also increases ranged damage. Try

LVL 20 => BLESSED SHOTS CONSUME NO AMMO: This allows you to keep firing for a longer time without reloading. Also, when shooting into hordes with a blessed shot, you'll regain 2 ammo instead of 1, in the end it's the best talent to keep topped up on ammo.

LVL 25 => 20% EXTRA MOVEMENT SPEED ON RANGED CRITS: this talent allows you to stay ahead of the team, so you don't shoot your teammates in the back all the time. It's also great for kiting enemies. You can literally outrun everything, so use it to clutch! The ammo regain talent isn't as good as you would expect and with scrounger + no ammo consumption on blessed shots, you'll find it quite difficult to run out of ammo. If you're low, just let of single shots into hordes when your blessed shot is ready.

LVL 30 => COOLDOWN REDUCTION ON RANGED CRITS: this allows you to have your ult up sooner, which you can use to oneshot body shot chaos warriors (with a crit on cata, without on legend). ALTERNATIVELY: the double shotted talent can greatly increase your boss dps if you manage to hit the head multiple times in a row together with a purple potion or any other potion in combination with concotion.
BRACE OF PISTOLS AND CHARM
-

* Crit power and power vs armoured for increased damage, especially against stormvermin, crit chance to increase ammo regain and damage output.
* Scrounger for ammo sustain
* Concotion in order to afflict maximum boss DPS from a potion: wait untill your ult is ready, drink a pot, fire your ult, empty all your pistols (12 shots at least) and ult a second time as it's ready right before the potion effect ends. In comparison, a strength pot with decanter would barely give you a few more shots as half of the pot duration you'll have to be reloading.
RAPIER AND NECKLACE
-

It's easy to hit heads with rapier light attacks and because of the high swing speed, you'll be hitting a lot of heads and landing a lot of crits in a relatively short timeframe, which synergizes with your temp hp talent best.

Natural bond: remember that you'll mostly be taking damage from running attacks while you have your brace of pistols out. That means that you'll usually be low on thp when you actually need it! This is why I prefer natural bond, just for this once. Normally I'm a huge barskin/boon fanboy.
TRINKET

Movement speed: this really synergizes with the extra 20% movement speed you get from your talent. Going faster allows you to stay ahead of your team so you have a clear shot and also allows you to kite hordes/other enemies while shooting at more important targets like elites and specials.

Grenadier (25% chance to dupe your bomb): since the effect of shrapnel is already applied through your lvl 10 talent (20% dmg against enemies hit with blessed shot), you don't need shrapnel in boss fights. Picking 50% extra bomb range is a bad idea since it doesn't help against bosses and it makes it way easier to teamkill your teammates. The grenadier talent is thus the best choice for this build.

Crit chance/curse resistance: on legend I switch out crit chance for curse resistance, but on cata the extra crit chance can help you increase your DPS a bit, as well as triggering scrounger more often and thus leaving you with more ammo to spend (which is very useful on cata since most elites take 3 hits instead of just two).

I manage to not run dry during the majority of my runs with this build and I'm pretty much using my pistols on every elite.

yeah, after every kill is certrainly to vulnerable - it's hard to balance it right

it's agood guide though

I tried it extensively, but it yields one less bullet per blessed shot (since you consume one) and it's extremely annoying to while in melee. I would agree with you if it was for i.e. the volley xbow, which is actually useful in CQC since it's charged attack hits in a cone, but having to shoot a bullet after every kill opens you for a lot of attacks and actually makes your damage output in melee lower.

I think inspired shot + scrounger works better for ammo
you cant avoid melee and this way you can hit q, shoot, hit q again, have a few mobs killed and more ammo then before

I've recorded a run using your build, it features a Minotaur bossfight on the ramparts at 11:40 where I do most of the damage to it using a potion and pistols.

I sadly don't have the RAM to be able to record live runs, but I pretty much run my pistols to kill elites 24/7 and only switch to rapier when I'm getting pressed by hordes etc...

During hordes, I use my guaranteed crits to regain ammo: dodge back and shoot one shot into the horde. Or to kill elites: shoot back and spam shots untill they're dead.

I'll try to add this to the guide itsself if I find the time :)

Also, would like it if you'd supply a small run-down on your exact playstyle and how you behave with this build, was kind of confusing to figure out when and why I would use the pistols or rapier but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

Just a heads up, you've indicated Explosive Ordnance on your Trinket even though you say in the description that you're using Grenadier!

Hella good movie, I'm going to have to try this build out sometime.
