The Model 85 Sumida is one of the earliest EHI vessels still in serial production. Pure industrial utility surmounted all other concerns, resulting in an incredibly simple design. The creators of the Sumida forwent the usual gimmick of placing alternate tool sets on rotating sections. Rather, the entire ship is functionally symmetrical from front to back, with welders on one end and grinders on the other. There are two control cabs placed with one facing each direction, allowing the operator to physically re-orient themselves to the end of the ship in use. Otherwise, each control cab has access to an opposite facing remote control, offering the same functionality without the need for the operator to relocate.
