Quick Fix To The Forced Antialiasing [OUTDATED READ DESC]
By RAT
If your game is blurry or you have FPS problems, do this. The developers implemented a change recently to force antialiasing on low settings. It's caused constant issues for players since it was patched into the game; FPS drops for those with more potato-esque PC's, and for other's the game is just terribly blurry and looks god awful. This is a fix to that issue, and is not bannable at all.

Within the past several months, this guide has become outdated, and the contents of no longer revert the forced AA-- which is really unfortunate, thanks BHVR. Anyways-- I'm sorry if you got your hopes up clicking on this, but this guide will be staying up as a piece of DbD history so we may reminisce on the visual abuse and emotional abuse we've taken up the a-- over the years. wonderful quality of life changes the developers at BHVR have forced despite feedback blessed us with.

Fix
Fixing The Disgusting Blurry Mess

Now, this is not bannable but keep in mind to edit your game files at your own risk. This should fix your antialiasing-related FPS drops and make your game look squeaky clean again.

1. You're going to want to get to the engine.ini file. The file should be located under C: \ Users \ Your Account Name HERE \ AppData \ Local \ DeadByDaylight \ Saved \ Config \ WindowsNoEditor

2. After you've reached this location open the engine.ini file and paste the following lines in;

[/script/engine.rendereroverridesettings]

r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0

3. Save the file. ggez.

Additional Information
An ini file is just a config file, where various game settings are stored (graphics quality, mouse sensitivity, that kind of thing). It is human-readable and editable, and no reasonable developer would ever try to ban a user over editing such a file, since there's no way to cheat here. In fact, the only reason this particular ini file (WindowsNoEditor) ever comes up is because you can manually tweak certain settings -- such as frame rate and anti-aliasing.

Before And Afters
Before and afters
Upon request I've decided to add a before and after photo section for reference, quality may differ for each of you though, some may be experiencing worse quality than this but this was my experience and enough to make me disable AA. Everything from character models, to obstacles looks horrible for me with AA enabled. These screenshots alone don't even begin to reflect how horrible it looks in game. You have ZERO visibility as killer or survivor, and can no longer see clearly a few meters in front of you, and auras look like complete blobs.

I would have taken more photos but I refuse to subject myself to motion sickness anymore, for my own health :') BUT IF ANYONE HAS ANY REFERENCE PHOTOS THAT REPRESENT THIS ISSUE FEEL FREE TO SEND THEM TO ME, AND I WILL ADD YOUR BEFORE/AFTER PHOTOS BELOW!

Left = Before I disabled AA (blurry)
Right = After I disabled AA (clear)
Top = Before I disabled AA (blurry)
Bottom = After I disabled AA (clear)

FAQ
1. Does this actually work?
Yes. This can actually work for you, so long as you correctly input the information directed by this guide. On another note, it's probably a good idea to keep in mind that, this doesn't work for everyone, and I've seen a few players saying that this just made their game look worse, in which case, just revert the changes you have made.

2. What can I do if this doesn't work?
I know of one other option, some people have fixed the blurriness by adjusting the resolution in-game. However, if I come across any other possible fixes, I will add them here.

3.Have the devs said this was okay or safe to do?

Peanits addressed this subject a long time ago. As he states, disabling antialiasing should be fine, and if anything were to change about that in the future, all you'd have to do is revert the changes you made to disable it.

What if I edit the wrong file, or make a mistake?
Please Don't. Double check everything just to be sure you're doing everything correctly. Don't mess with ANYTHING else, while ini. files are normally fine, I strongly can't recommend you messing with any other file but the one specified in the guide. If you do so, do it at your own risk. Also, it should be clear that anything that gives you a competitive advantage over another player in any shape or form is not allowed (as shown above).

I have more questions, can I message you directly?
Yes. Comment on my profile or request me and I'll get back to you and answer your questions.

As far as I know they decided that it was an unfair advantage according to some of the popular dbd streamers/youtubers, but also this is still just outdated and no longer works regardless.

Engine editing still works, lol

Late, but necessary update. This guide is out of date now, as this has been completely patched over, and as far as I know this is a permanent decision made by the developers. A big thanks to everyone who in the past, rated, favorited, commented, and gave this small guide some attention. I hope-- at least for some time, that it helped many. Also you little rats who left kind comments on my profile. I see you, and I love you. Good luck in the fog my little Dweets, and Megathans! Peep the description for a free smile :cozydbd:

I can look into it @Mobius, I'm unsure if it has changed, as far as I remember this didn't always work for everyone, and there were some people I was not able to help find a solution for the forced anti-aliasing. I will look and see if there were further updates/changes made, and if I can figure out a solution I will reach out to you and update the guide.

I'm not sure to be honest. I had problems with it after a patch a few months back, and I had to go back into my engine.ini folder and reset it back to my custom settings, some updates push all settings back to default. I'm still searching for an alternative solution for you.

But it was fine half a year ago. IDK what BHVR have broke recently.

This fix doesn't work for everyone, some people have to adjust their in-game resolution scale, and even then it can feel off and look bad. I'm sorry this method didn't work for you. I wish I could suggest more methods, but unfortunately there's only a couple methods out there for solving this issue, and if neither of them work, then it's safe to say you're boned due to the developers being potatoes and forcing AA. However, I'll scout around and attempt to find another possible solution for you @Avrora
