Overview of the Mod
ATTENTION! THIS IS A MASSIVE GUIDE! HOWEVER, THIS CAN HELP YOU IF YOU ARE NEW TO BF2 MODS AND/OR BUC MOD! This guide is also subject to be updated to give the readers better experience

Star Wars Battlefront II: Battlefront Ultimate Commander Open Beta 2.0.1 (or BUC 2.0.1 for short) is a mod for the Classic Star Wars Battlefront II game released by Pandemic. In this version, the mod lets you play as 2 prominent faction in the Clone Wars. Fight for freedom and slavery as the CIS or be a badass clone as the Republic. This mod does not convert the base game, rather includes new maps, eras, and modes. So don’t worry about this mod breaking the game or ruin other mods (except BFIII: Legacy).

This mod features a myriad of new units, weapons, vehicles, and maps with sexy textures and models for the Clone Wars era in the game. The new game modes, although still sticking to the core vanilla game modes, include some unique features such as letting you play as a Ultramarine legion from WH40k, Phase 1 clones, etc. More on that in later sections.

Developed by:
- Géraud (Fox) / The Blueman
- Jérôme (CT-108)
- Romain (Allumette)

Auxiliary:
- Clock: Modeled the Phase 1 trooper's helmet and Ultramarine texture.
Installing the Mod
Installing the mod is actually very very very easy. In fact, SWBFII is one of the easiest games to install mod with that I have ever done.
    1. Of course, you gonna need the base game itself. You can BUY it from Steam with a fairly cheap price, download it from GOG or even Origin, or if you are feeling old school, you can use the disc version. Don’t worry, this mod works for every version of the game.
    2. You’re gonna need the unofficial 1.3 patch r130 which you can download from HERE. This is very important as most mods require this patch to work. Once it is downloaded, you need to install the patch to the game directory. If you are using the Steam version, it will most likely be like this:
program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/Star Wars Battlefront II/GameData/addon
[If you have never installed a SWBFII mod before, there’s a 99% chance that the addon folder doesn’t exist. Worry not, you can just create a new folder called addon inside the GameData folder]. If you are not using the Steam version, just go to Star Wars Battlefront II game files directory that you chose during installation. Click install and blabla. Once it done, when you enter the game, the version will still say version 1.0. It’s okay but to make sure you have properly installed the patch; you’ll need to enter any game. Press escape and see if there are Fake Console and Free Camera options in the menu. If you can see and use them, then you are good to go to installing the mod itself.
    3. Now, you can install the mod that you have downloaded from HERE. The file will be downloaded as a rar file so having a winrar, 7zip, or others is very important (I’m telling you this because on my experience, many people doesn’t even know what the hell is a zip file wtf). Locate the BUC folder and then extract the folder to the ‘addon’ folder that you just made. Wait a few seconds or minutes (this is a very big mod so for potato PC, this might take longer) and then VOILA!!!!!!! You’re done installing the mod. Congrats! Bravo! And now you can fully enjoy the mod and experience the hard AF gameplay that you have never seen in any classic SWBFII game and other mods.

IMPORTANT NOTES: Whenever you want to install almost any SWBF II mod, please make sure that you only copy the 3 letter folder(s). DO NOT COPY THE PARENT FOLDER, only the 3 letter folder.
It should be looking like this. Ignore the other mod folders
Faction & Unit
Did I mentioned that the AI is greatly enhanced? No? Well, basically the mod enhances the AI SIGNIFICANTLY. By enhanced, I don’t mean the AI are now capable of executing intricate strategies or whatever. By enhanced, I mean… the AI now has aimbot 😊

So, basically, you’ll get to choose between the Republic or the CIS as per the usual game. The Republic consists of those sexy clone bois in Phase 2 armor while the CIS consists of those skinny battle droids with the addition of Droidekas, real tanky SBDs, Jetpack SBDs, and magnaguards. Let’s start with the clone units:

    - Clone Trooper: Your regular cannon-fodder grunt. Equipped with a DC-15s rifle and a pistol. This unit doesn’t have any grenades. Instead, it has a knife for a melee attack (which often deals a one hit kill) and a bacta tank should you get stuck in a pickle and need that health boost from a bacta real fast.
    - Support Trooper: The ‘upgraded’ clone trooper but still dies quite easily if you are not careful. They are equipped with a DC-15a rifle and a pistol. Now, instead of a bacta tank, they have 2 thermal detonators that is very powerful and good for clearing up hallways or rooms packed with clankers.
    - Clone Sharpshooter: The sniper of the Clone Army. Armed with a DC-15x Sniper Rifle (one-shot every unit with body hit, 2 shots an SBD), this bad boy can pick off any battle droids from a distance. However, this rifle only holds 2 rounds/magazine. So, be sure to displace position after you fire 2 shots. This clone is also equipped with Droid Poppers, very effective if you are being overrun and need to run away quickly.
    - Clone Field Medic: The doctor of the Republic faction. They are equipped with a flachette rifle, a pistol, health boost for you and teammates, and some bacta tanks.
    - Clone Bomb Expert: As the name suggests, it demolishes things. Droids, tanks, teammates, you name it. Armed with a rocket launcher, a pistol, and mines, this unit is always ready to send those clankers flying in an explosive glory. Just make sure you don’t have any teammates at the receiving end of your assault.
    - Clone Jet Trooper: Lightly armored, heavily mobile. This fast and nimble trooper is always on the move, ready to strike the clankers from the sky. This unit sports an arc caster and several anti-tank grenades should you encounter enemy armor. Be careful not to be aggressive as they can’t withstand several hits of blaster bolts unlike his other brethren.
    - Clone Heavy Gunner: This slow walking tank can uninstall every droid programming that stands in his path with his trusted Z-6 Rotary Cannon. This unit is suited for holding a position with his deployable shield and just annihilate everything that comes to his position. Oh no! An enemy tank is coming. Oh, don’t worry, brothers! This boi packs several EMP detonators that could disable armors and kill the ejected occupants. In a nutshell, you know you’re in good hands whenever you hear that BRRRRT sound nearby.
Clone Commander: Ah, this boi is near invincible with his regenerating health. Armed with an upgraded DC-15a that comes with an underslung ROCKET LAUNCHER, this boi is always ready to command and conquer the battlefront. This is the perfect unit to choose if you are desperate to stay alive for more than 10 seconds.

CIS/Separatist Alliance:

    - B1-Battle Droid: Your regular and classic battle droid. This thin droid is very dangerous if going in packs but fairly weak if it’s alone. Other than the E-5 Blaster, it has same equipments with its clone counterpart.
    - OOM-Security Battle Droid: This droid sniper is very powerful if used correctly. The E-5x Sniper Rifle shoots in a 3 round burst but 1 hit is already proven to be fatal. Very useful for picking off clones from afar and yet still effective for close to medium range engagement.
    - B2 Super Battle Droid: “Watch those wrist rockets!” yes, that clone is right. This tanky MFers in the mod truly represent the true danger and potential of the SBDs (so far only this mod and 2004 Republic Commando game that have terrifying SBDs). It packs everything into his wrist. Wrist Blaster, Wrist Rocket, and Wrist Vibroblade.
    - OOM-Assault Droid: You know this battle droid is special when it has a sick color scheme. Armed with an awesome sounding, powerful, ACP Array Gun. This gun can shred anything quickly. Thus, very effective and powerful in CQB. This guy can also deploy E-Web blaster turret that is very effective if you want to defend a hallway and it can literally sweep away enemy clones quickly. Also, the radiation detonator is very good for taking out large chunk of clones.
    - BX-Series Droid Commando: This guy deserved its name. Armed with powerful BX-Series E-5 Blaster rifle and a M82… MandalTech Heavy Sniper Rifle, this guy is ready for anything. The dioxis detonator is also very dangerous as it has poison that slowly takes the life out of the clones.
    - OOM-Command Battle Droid: The commander that shoots a semi-auto E-5 but packs heavier punch than its brethren. It also has a special ability called Rage that increases its damage output as well as its nearby teammates. The deployable squad shield is also very useful to support the teammate.
    - B2-RP SBD: Did I already mention that the SBD in this mod is very powerful? Yes, this one is 2x more powerful. WITH A JETPACK! The wrist rocket is replaced by wrist bomb launcher that lobes a volley of 4 powerful grenades (explode on impact).
    - IG-100 Magnaguard: Armed with an Electrostaff only. I hate this guy. Powerful.
    - Q-Series Droideka: This shield boi is your classic hit and run unit. Roll in, deploy shield, BRRRT, then scooch.

Mandalorians

By the time of this writing, the script for Mandos unit names are still messed up. So in the meantime please take a look from this screenshot. One notable unit is the Deathwatch SBD. It is an SBD with a jetpack and personal shield. So its very tanky.

Jedi

Your force user friends. Each Jedi is equally powerful but only some Jedi unit has the capability to use the Force ability in this game mode. Since you will be using the Jedi to fight the clones, its best to just quickly engage them in close range and then fly away.
Game Modes
Alongside the classic conquest mode, this mod includes several additions of new modes as well. Namely, Order 66, phase 1 clone TDM, and RvB. Here’s the description of each modes:
    - Conquest: Classic conquest, you know the drill.
    - Order 66: The clone troopers from the Ultramarine legion are called in to deal with these heretics called Jedi under Order 66 by Chancellor Palpatine. These troopers are ready to deliver the sentence of Excommunicado Traitoris swiftly towards the Jedi. Meanwhile the Jedi must defend themselves by killing all the Ultrasmurfs before they are annihilated.
    - Red VS Blue: Do you hate Commander Fox for killing our dearest homeboi, Fives, in The Clone Wars series? Then, this mod is a fine addition to your collection. This mode pits you in a rumble between the beloved 501st and the Coruscant Guard. It is basically a deathmatch but with special units that appeared in TCW such as Hardcase, Thorn, Sergeant Hound, and Commander Fox.
    - Phase 1 clone TDM: The phase 1 clone TDM (some maps are XL) lets you play as the sexy Phase 1 clone trooper. Very suitable for those of you who prefer the Phase 1 clones than the Phase 2.
    - Mandalorians: Lets you play as Mandalorian faction against GAR
Clone Legions
While the CIS faction is more or less the same in every BUC 2.0 and vanilla maps, the Republic enjoys a myriad of clone legions to play with in each map in conquest:
- Coruscant Conquest: 501st Legion

- Coruscant TDM: Coruscant Guard vs CIS

- Coruscant RvB: 501ST vs CG

- Polis Massa: Doom Unit/101st legion

- Saleucami: 327th Legion

- Saleucami (Mandalorian): 187th Legion

- Naboo Selton: 7th Elite Legion (fanon legion)

- Dantooine: 187th Legion

- Kashyyk (docks): Camo Clone

- Tatooine: Allon Settlement: Bomb Squad

- Felucia: Camo Clone

- 3rd Battle of Felucia: 327th Legion

- Bespin Cloud City: 41st Elite (non-camo)

- Utapau: 212th Sky Corps

- All ORDER 66 Game Mode: WH40K Ultramarine Legion (color scheme only, not actual Astartes)

Quick General Tactics
Forget everything about running and gunning down the enemy like in the vanilla SWBFII. You are not the hero here (not even when you are using a hero unit). This is the mod where you will truly feel insignificant. In short, you are indeed a regular grunt sent to fight and die. Except if you are Needo. Basically, this is the mod where Needo can truly shine

This is mostly applies for Clone faction as its the most hard to win in this mod.

Cover

Taking cover is the most fundamental tactic in this mod. In vanilla, you can run around and wreck havoc to the enemy and will die in 2-5 minutes at best. In this, surviving for more than 1 minute is already an ace. So, ALWAYS find cover whenever you can and strike the enemy from said cover.

Form a squad

Its always handy to have extra guns to attack the enemy. Ask your team to follow you to help you out. You will most likely die in seconds if you are alone, since the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ SWBFII AIs will always automatically switches their attention towards you.

Play as commander

If you are feeling cheap, its best to play as the clone commander. It has regenerating health, a rocket launcher, and powerful guns. Playing as the commander lets you increase your survival rate by 0.1% and that itself is enough.
Conclusion
BUC in my honest opinion is one of the best mods available today for SWBFII. It may not radically change the game like some other good mods but this one is truly challenging and I can feel the love and pain put into this mod.

I hope you can enjoy this mod like I do. You can check out the progress in BUC moddb page and BUC discord server.

See you there!

well, until further notice, I bid this mod an RIP - but if and when it finishes development, I'll give it a shot!

@Lootron Moddb didn't decide to hide the Moddb page. I decided to do so until I could properly resume work on the project.

ATM I still don't know when I'll be able to resume work on the mod sadly.

@lootron Fox didn't say he stop or gave up with the mod as he's very busy with his job. He's actually still working on it but, yeah, with the pace of a senile snail. He decided to archive the moddb page until he came back to the mod IIRC.

That being said, it's safer to say that this mod has finally come to rest.

The original creator of the mod hasn't been on moddb since Sep. 5 22. I guess they're dead or gave up. Moddb chose to hide the original mod page, which is generally a bad sign.
