PAPI Props

Beschreibung
Here are two new lightweight PAPI (precision approach path indicator) props for your airports:

1. PAPI-L-white
2. PAPI-L-red

They are based on the PAPI 401CU-2 lights by OCEM. Each has two light effects pointed ~3° skywards, to help your approaching aircraft find their correct path. They are normally plopped on the left side of the runway, near the touchdown point, as seen in the screenshots. At Tegel airport (TXL) in Berlin, there are four sets (each runway is reversible), each with four lights at ~9m intervals.

Main model
TRIS: 258
maps: 256x256 (_d, _s, _i)

custom LOD
TRIS: 42
maps: 32x32 (_d, _s, _i)

Special thanks to vasimr22 for help with all things airport-related in Cities:Skylines.

Have fun, and I hope to see you in Berlin for PDXCON 2019 in October!

I was the one who updated the old PAPI lights for AD (the one aubergine18 gave the link of).
Those old ones basically uses white textures and 1 light prop in the middle, they dont change color like real life PAPI lights.

This is the best PAPI lights on WORKSHOP at the moment, i personally use this one, i advice you guys do the same :D cheers.

Someone like Electrix, who made building changer mod, might be able to do it. Maybe something that could swap the props based on camera position.

I considered trying to do it actually passively ingame with physical tricks and planes and such but figured it would just be an excercise in frustration. C:S light effects shine right through polygons. It would be cool if there was a mod that actually switched the props (red to white and vice versa) depending on the distance and elevation of the camera (ofc, in the appropriate patterns)

Just on the video i have not seen that units itself changes lights. It is seperated, so i should see 1+3, 2+2 etc. Not working луку as intended IRL, probably need more scripting. Also that ugly descending, who doing it like that if NOT want to crash into runway?

ISTR that this PAPI prop managed to get the lights changing color based on angle:

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=661138078

There's a mesh between two lights in the prop, so depending on viewing angle you see one or both of the lights (and red is brighter than white if memory serves).

Could be wrong - not used the asset for ages - but give it a try.

I wouldn't say it's not possible. I hereby challenge an airport enthusiast/modder to code and replicate the passive functionality of this asset! :highlvl: How cool would it be?!!
Captain Toof 2. Sep. 2019 um 2:41
But it is not possible and will stay as fixed color lamps.

ikr?

It should dynamically switch color if looked from certain angle.

Would be super cool if someone could release a ready-propped runway as an interchange asset or something. I have no clue how all the lights, numbering, etc., are supposed to be arranged.
