Introduction/ESO's Seasons
If you've ever checked out the Crown Store, you'll notice that the DLC section is a mess.

What ESO doesn't tell you is that the majority of DLC's belong to different "Seasons"; these are large additional storylines that release every year and are made up of 4 separate DLC's.

So far, these are all of the Seasons:
  • Season 1: The Planemeld (Main Quest)
  • Season 2: The Daedric Wars
  • Season 3: Season of the Dragon
  • Season 4: The Dark Heart of Skyrim
  • Season 5: Gates of Oblivion
  • Season 6: Legacy of the Bretons
  • Season 7: Shadow over Morrowind
  • Misc. DLC
*This guide was compiled using the information available on ESO's official website and the UESP wiki.*
Season 1: The Planemeld (Main Quest)
This is the main story/main quest of the game which every player has free access to.

There are no DLCs that tie into this story arc. However, Season 1 takes place before all of the DLCs chronologically, so there will be several spoilers if you do decide to skip the main quest.

If you're confused on how to start the main quest: (credits to Ashrend)
  • Aldmeri Dominion (AD) : Go to Auridon, Vulkhel Guard city Wayshrine
  • Daggerfall Covenant (DC): Go to Glenumbra, Daggerfall city Wayshrine
  • Ebonheart Pact (EP): Go to Stonefalls, Davon's Watch city Wayshrine
Season 2: The Daedric Wars
DLC Order:
  • Orsinium (Zone DLC)
  • Morrowind (Major Zone DLC/Chapter) *Recommended
  • Clockwork City (Zone DLC) *Recommended for story only
  • Summerset (Major Zone DLC/Chapter) *Recommended

Notes:
Orsinium is not super significant as there is nothing about the Daedric Wars plot in this DLC until the very end. (Still fun if you have a few extra bucks to spare)
Season 3: Season of the Dragon
DLC Order:
  • Wrathstone (Dungeon DLC)
  • Elsweyr (Major Zone DLC/Chapter) *Recommended
  • Scalebreaker (Dungeon DLC)
  • Dragonhold (Zone DLC) *Recommended
Season 4: The Dark Heart of Skyrim
DLC Order:
  • Harrowstorm (Dungeon DLC)
  • Greymoor (Major Zone DLC/Chapter) *Recommended
  • Stonethorn (Dungeon DLC)
  • Markarth (Zone DLC) *Recommended
Season 5: Gates of Oblivion
DLC Order:
  • Flames of Ambition (Dungeon DLC)
  • Blackwood (Major Zone DLC/Chapter) *Recommended
  • Waking Flame (Dungeon DLC)
  • Deadlands (Zone DLC) *Recommended
Season 6: Legacy of the Bretons
DLC Order:
  • Ascending Tide (Dungeon DLC)
  • High Isle (Major Zone DLC/Chapter)
  • Lost Depths (Dungeon DLC)
  • Firesong (Zone DLC)
Season 7: Shadow over Morrowind
DLC Order:
  • Scribes of Fate (Dungeon DLC)
  • Necrom (Major Zone DLC/Chapter)
  • Scrolls of Ithelia (Dungeon DLC)
  • Gold Road (Major Zone DLC/Chapter)
Misc. DLC
None of these DLCs have any connections to each other or to any of the previous story arcs so you can technically do them in any order you want.

Warning: All of these DLCs occur AFTER the main quest chronologically, and many of them contain spoilers regarding the main quest.
  • Imperial City (PVP Zone DLC)
  • Thieve's Guild (Zone DLC) *Recommended
  • Dark Brotherhood (Zone DLC) *Recommended
  • Shadows of the Hist (Dungeon DLC)
  • Horns of the Reach (Dungeon DLC)
  • Dragon Bones (Dungeon DLC)
  • Wolfhunter (Dungeon DLC)
  • Murkmire (Zone DLC)

Mr Raider! Please can you update this guide for season 6? Also does season 6 concludes the whole story in Necrom chapter or is there still another Zone DLC like previous expansions? I searched online and it seems there will be no Zone DLC likes before. Is it true? Thanks Raider!

I bought the DLC collection, couldn't access them, had to buy ESO+ membership in order to access DLC content. Don't waste your money like I did.

If you buy a DLC once, it's forever, for every character you create.

I would get a subscription to a plus membership but it says it auto renews. I don;t see where I can stop that ........so I am not buying it. Help?
