Characters (Standard Edition)
Introduction

The Core Game comes with 4 playable Characters. The Player can chose any of them (as you don't need to unlock any of them). There is 5 more playable Characters in Strange Brigade. You can't unlock them by playing the game, they are only purchasable as DLC.

In Solo Mode there is no AI bot, the game is fully made to play alone without any gameplay drawback (beside the fact that only Archimedes can open and gain access to the Ancient Alcoves that contain non-essential treasures).

In Co-op Mode two Players can select the same Character. Money, Gems and Jars are not shared within the Team. Cats & Relics are shared.

In-Game Character's Descriptions

  • Nalangu Rushida (Former Demon Hunter): "Years of harsh training to hunt demons have bestowed Nalangu with rapid reflexes and a sixth sens for danger!"
  • Gracie Braithwaite (Former Pugilist): "The Lancashire Lass with a dab hand for explosives & fisticuffs! Remarkably useful in close quarter combat!"
  • Archimedes de Quincey (Former Scolar): "With his affinity for magic, Archimedes has a wider soul gather radius & the ability to open ancient alcoves"
  • Frank Fairburne (Former Soldier of Fortune): "A lifetime of service to his country has left Frank with a rather tough exterior, as well as a rather brutal headshot trick!"

Passive Abilities
Introduction

Every member of the Strange Brigade have two passive Abilities. Some of these abilities are unique to a character:
  • Vampire Strike (Nalangu Rushida)
  • Haymaker (Gracie Braithwaite)
  • Keen Secret Finder (Archimedes de Quincey)

Some abilities seem to have the same effect but aren't named the same way:
  • Powerful Soul Aura and Large Soul Gather
  • Tough Hide and More Health
  • Super Headshots and Explosive Headshots

What they do

Vampire Strike: The Player drains health from foe when performing a melee attack (the kick heal, not the kill like the weapon upgrade Gem).

Faster Movement: Run faster (when the character holsters his weapon). I believe the increase is something like +20%.

Fast Explosives (CDR): Explosive, Grenade and Dynamite cooldown is reduced. It seems to be approximately -20%.

Haymaker: Vicinity foes are Knockback by a Shockwave when the Player perform a melee attack.

Powerful Soul Aura: Increase the Radius of Soul Gather Area.

Keen Secret Finder: This Ability allows the Player to see and open Ancient Alcove Doors.

Tough Hide (HP Bonus): Increase max health.

Super Headshots: More weapon damage when you land an headshot.

More Health (HP Bonus): Increase max health.

Large Soul Gather: Increase the Radius of Soul Gather Area.

Explosive Headshots: More weapon damage when you land an headshot.
Amulet Powers
Introduction

There is 21 distinct Amulet Powers in the Game. Each member of the Strange Brigade (9 Characters) start with one unlocked Amulet Power and 3 locked ones among the last 12. The Player need to unlock these 12 Amulets Powers using his well earned Skill Points.

Some of these Amulet Powers are unique to a Character while others are shared by more than one Character. When you unlock a shared Amulet Power, this Amulet Power is unlocked for all the Characters who can use it. I made a table for clarification in which the 9 starting Amulet Powers are marked by a yellow star.

@ Lickolas Sage, no, alcoves contain only additional chests with gold/weapon gems, nothing progress-related.

About Quincey - is playing him and thereafter opening alcoves required to 100% levels?

Could we all help list what missions have the secret alcoves for Quincey to open? I don't think the final level has any

Looks like I was wrong about Winston's passive: it charges the amulet at the same rate as others. So it is equal to "Powerful soul aura" indeed.

The thing is no figure is given for these passives, so I just made a quick description list to help players selecting the best char for them. II tried them all once, but I actually started the game playing mainly Anjali and ended switching over Frank in my Solo+Extreme run cycling between the Call of Seteki and the Decoy Grenade near traps.

Tessie's passive is called "Fast explosives recharge", but equals "Fast explosives" of Gracie and Patrick.
Also, I'm not sure that Winston's "Larger soul gather" is the same as "Powerful soul aura" of two other characters. To me it seems that souls fill his amulet faster (still needs testing).
