A custom true-start map pack containing five huge (106x66) Earth maps

REQUIRES GATHERING STORM + RISE AND FALL EXPANSIONS

Maps included are:
  • Earth
  • Eurasia
  • Europe
  • Americas
  • Middle East

Resources are placed manually, corresponding to real-world deposits and for game balance

All Civs are playable on each map. Civs whose capitals aren't on a particular map instead have their spawn point randomly selected from a pool of pre-set locations.

Feel free to edit and use these maps as you please, including with your own mods. All I ask is to be credited if you re-upload my work!

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Why are some maps inaccurate?
A: Some landmasses have been scaled up to allow for game balance. I've tried my best to maintain accurate landmass shapes to make these changes less obvious, but some sacrifices must be made when converting real world geography to game tiles.

Q: Do city names correspond with their real-world location like in YnAMP?
A: No. This is simply because I don't know how to do that. If I ever learn how I might give it a try, but for now I want to keep my mod as simple as possible to increase compatibility with other mods.

Q: Where does Frederick Barbarossa, Peter the Great, Saladin, etc... spawn?
A: All leaders spawn where their capital city is. This means Frederick spawns in Aachen, Peter in St. Petersburg, Saladin in Cairo, etc... However modded leaders for those civs will spawn at the country's modern-day capital (eg. a new German leader will spawn in Berlin). Feel free to edit the map files if you want to change this.

Q: Will there be a Base Game or Rise and Fall compatible version?
A: I'm currently working on making these, however I'm waiting for the Gathering Storm version to be satisfactory first. This ensures that the Base and R&F versions will be better quality when they do come out.

Q: Will you make more maps?
A: Yes!

Q: How do I keep the camera rotated for the Americas map?

Q: Help! I've encountered a bug!
A: Let me know in the comment section on the mod's Steam Workshop page and I'll try my best to fix it.

Q: Which mods work well with these maps?
A: I recommend Gedemon's YnAMP - Closer Cities, totalslacker's Loyal Capitals, and either p0kiehl's Larger Map Sizes OR Gedemon's Yet (not) Another Maps Pack for an increased max number of civs.

Known Bugs and Issues:
  • Currently maps made with the in-game world builder don't have river flooding, polar ice melting, or the ability to create dams. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to fix that right now.
  • Unfortunately having random spawns for city-states bugs the game when starting later than the ancient era. As a compromise, I have chosen pre-set spawns for all city-states on all maps, even those without true spawn locations (eg. Hong Kong in the Europe Map). I'll revert city-states back to semi-random spawns as soon as a solution is found.

Other mods cause problems somehow. Has anyone found out which mods are a no go with this map mod? Or is there a max on the size or amount of civs in a game?

not good enough, make an earth map where every tile is the same as 1 meter... I believe the size would be around 40,075,017 x 40,075,017!!!!

Snoochie why would you download a big TSL map like this if you don't like big maps?? xD either add more civs or play on a smaller map lmao

It looks great but maps this huge just don't play well with AI, you can't influence the game if you are 20/30 tiles away from each other. The AI sits in their corners shitting cities, abusing the Deity advantage of extra settlers. And they hoover all the resources from there. You really need to spawn about ten tiles apart.

Completely broken, if you start on europe you will see all nations losing their capitals to someone, on my case england due to loyalty, everything there is a total clusterfk, the pass thru the mountains from spain to france is a tiny hole, which eventually get blocked by mr.trajan expanding his capital, and you cant send troops from there anymore without his permission, he will put some carriages in there to laugh at you as well.

With the dlcs you cant even take anything, cuz england will claim 3 or 4 factions instanty and take the stuff back with loyalty. You cant establish a colony either since everything on europe is so tiny and clustered there is barely enough space to move and factions are so close to eachother and their capitals close to yours its stupid.

So to start in europe you either have to be crystal fast and go straight to france without wasting a single turn and establish there, or its broken and unplayable.

Which mods are this mods kriptonite? I have had the .lua notification a few times now. Also, with how many civs can you play this on which map size?

I dont see many people talking about this but vietnam doesnt have proper tsl on eurasia. She started in western north africa for me

Please add Portugal to the Huge Europe map, Spain has no competitor thus has an unbalanced head start
