Description
Ever wanted to have Co-driver calls play through headphones while the other sounds play through speakers? Now you are able to without hacking around a convoluted speaker setup!

Co-Driver Splitter is a plugin for recent DiRT, GRID and F1 games splitting audio between multiple devices. Now Co-driver, Spotter and Commentator calls will be played through a Communications device, while everything else plays over speakers!

Previously people hacked such setups around by faking a 5.1 speaker set and plugging in headphones to a center speaker jack. With the plugin, all you need to do is set a correct Communications device!

Download & Installation
Download Co-Driver Splitter directly from GitHub:
https://github.com/CookiePLMonster/CoDriver-Splitter/releases/latest/download/Co-Driver-Splitter-64-bit.zip

Once downloaded, extract archive contents to the game's main directory. You can locate game directory from Steam by entering game's Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files.
First Time Setup
You don’t need to do much to make sure Co-Driver Splitter picks correct audio devices. All you need to do is to ensure that in Sound, your Default Communications Device is set to headphones, while Default Device – speakers or other device you want to play environment sounds through.

1. In Windows, open Sound settings.

2. Navigate to Playback tab. Your list of devices will probably look similar to this, with your main audio output listed as Default Device.

3. Locate the device you want to use for co-driver calls (most likely your headphones), right click on it and select Set as Default Communications Device. Your devices list should now look similarly to this:

NOTE: Your audio driver software (eg. Realtek Control Panel) may be set up in such a way so connecting headphones automatically makes them the default device. You might want to turn this off, or you'll most likely have to redo those steps every time you connect headphones.

Nice idea. I wish my steering wheel didn't make me sweat so much that I can't play in headphones.

If you're trying to do strange setups (one-ear co-driver and headphone mixes), I recommend using Banana by VB-Audio with this plugin.

If you install ASIO4ALL as well, you can have very-low/realtime software mixing, with the ability to even split the co-driver to *both* your headphones and environment speakers, and "place" the co-driver wherever you want.

The software is donationware, so you can use it for free (but you should consider donating to the developer!)

Other than playing around with volumes in Windows, you can't do it from the mod currently. It's an interesting request though!

Follow the instructions. I explained how to get to the game directory, where you need to extract the files.
