Yes, if you want waves that high you have to go to the map, click the snowflake and head towards the red. (The hot climate) The waves are HUGE there.

With the new update the waves will be EVEN WORSE.

Yeah I know what you mean, it wasn't until the Arctic update when I went north and got out to the deeper waters that I realized just how big the waves can be there.
