Beschreibung
Constructed in 1903 for the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company, the building served as factory and warehouse for Studebaker wagons, buggies and phaetons. Upon it's purchase in 1918, it was renamed for its new owner, Stowe Hardware and Supply Co.

The building is considered architecturally significant, with unusual stylized moldings flanking the arched entranceway. The eighth floor cornice is supported by brackets which display 'S' for Studebaker - and later adopted by Stowe. The tall elevator tower harkens to a time when the technology was a status symbol to be showcased, and though a bit worse for wear over the past century, it remains a signature structure in Kansas City's West Bottoms district.

I dearly love your KC assets!

These textures look so good! I know it's a huge ask, but just to throw it out there, I'd love to see some of your old industrial buildings trimmed down to 2-4 stories for more small-town settings.

@cmpmc2, I use TPB's Theme Mixer and mix and match bits and pieces from one of several themes, including Mark Fire's Monte Belo , Cedar Valley , among a few others that I can't seem to recall. A quick head's up, that you'll need a healthy amount of available RAM for this.

Something you may notice about my assets (something I take pains with in each of them) is a deep focus on optimization. Looking at a subject, and deciding which details to model and which to sacrifice to squeeze every kilobyte, pixel and polygon, can be a simulation game in itself... That these buildings emerge from my gauntlet with the character, grace, and grit of their real-life counterparts is more compliment than I could hope for.

Thank you for your kind words, Happy Building!

I don't think I've commented before and it's about time I do - your Kansas City set buildings are some of my favorite larger buildings on the workshop. They have so much character! I was originally starting a city and just looking for anything brick, but after filtering out a ton of assets yours have consistently stood out as keepers. I'm really excited to have another to work with. Absolutely superb quality!

Your buildings are always so well made! Thank you for sharing this one.

@exothrermic it's just wide enough for a single track, so a bit narrow for most roads. The opening spans the length of the building, though, and using the fine road anarchy mod , you can augment a path from one side to the other and spruce up some single-lane industrial connections.
