The best way to do this workaround is to get the version of wanted titled "wantedsp.rar". The best and safest location is to download it from ModDB at: https://www.moddb.com/mods/wanted-the-western-mod-steam and install it like any other half life mod.

The main bug that is preventing you from playing the game comes in one of it's features- Notes! After recent patches to the gold source engine, interacting with notes will cause the game to open the team fortress classic class selection screen and freeze the player in place. Once you select one of these classes in hopes to close the note you will be frozen in place permanently. To work around this issue simply choose "#Menu_Cancel" and wait around 15-30 seconds and the game will unfreeze you allowing you to continue.

T have stumbled across a hidden
cave decorated with many ancient
rock drawings.

Some of the symbols are obviously
hunting scenes similar to the kaiews
tribal drawings in the devils maze

Othes Appear older still, and depict
a many legged creature, chased by
a round face with a large mouth. I
have made a copy of this drawing.


Perhaps Dr. Weberfink has seen
similar in his jorneys to the interior
of the great sothern lands of Australia?
