Go Here.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ultimate Doom\base

Open this file in notpad.
ultimatem.conf

Change these lines to read.

fulldouble=false
fullresolution=desktop
output=openglnb
machine=Svga_S3
aspect=true

Save the file but leave it open, we still need to add some stuff.

Novert

Download Novert from here.

Extract files from .zip file you downlaoded and put them in the base folder.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ultimate Doom\base

Go back to the base folder.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ultimate Doom\base

Open this file with note pad again.

ultimatem.conf

When the file is open in notepad. At the bottom it will look like this.[/b]
[autoexec]

mount c .\base
c:
doom.exe -config MOUSE.CFG
exit

Change it to look like this. The word novert is the difference, insert it as below and save.
[autoexec]

mount c .\base
c:
novert
doom.exe -config MOUSE.CFG
exit

5***Done.

Open the files listed below in notepad and change the values to read as below.

DEFAULT.CFG
MOUSE.CFG

The files are located in the base folder.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Ultimate Doom\base

Change these values
snd_channels 8
snd_musicdevice 8

Save and close.

If you want to play DOOM in the best version, there is only one way.

Get a Compaq Deskpro running DOS 4.01, insert the DOOM floppy and type install to play.

The Dutxh Cyborg: snd_sfxdevice 8 crashes upon any sound playing, just change snd_channels and snd_musicdevice

hi i have a little problem. This tutorial is great and all but when i play the first level the 2 soliders are dead and not only the first 2. Also the enemies in the secret room are dead too. Can you help me with this please?

About the MIDI sounds part: shouldn't we need to set the sfx-thingie to 8 as well?
