Welcome to Adirondack.

This is my first remastered attempt of my old Adirondack map I made a couple years ago. I have reworked everything from the ground up. I have kept the original idea of having one mountain named Adirondack, reach the max terrain height of 1,023.9 meters.

Mount Adirondack is the highest point on the map with other prominent ranges stretching from the center. On the southwest side of the Adirondack Range lies Beauford Range which hosts many small lakes on its slopes. The river running between the two ranges is the Adirondack River which originates in the top left of the map then flows down and forms Glacier Lake within Glacier Valley with steep vertical cliffs that flank both sides of the lake. The river then flows down into the plains and into Puget Bay.
The lesser range to the northeast is the Sequoia Range, it has rivers on both sides. Hudson River runs on the west side of the range and Vladmir River lies just to the east, both flowing into the Yrmir Inlet.

Tall conifers dominate the slopes and valleys of all the mountains and countryside. Shorter deciduous trees and small forests sprawl along and near the Adirondack and Hudson rivers. Large, spacious meadows lie within the countryside separating the forests.

There is a decent amount of fertile land ripe for agricultural use. Wind barriers separate the respective fields (the trees).

The rail and road networks are all elevated above the floodplains like they would be in reality, they rise about 4 meters above the plain. Along the routes will be dry creeks with their respective bridges to alleviate flooding during natural disasters.

Along the coast you will find a mix of flat, sandy beaches and rocky, steep cliffs. On some of the rocky beaches, there are small islands dotted around, with lighthouses near the old shipping routes, there are also old cruisers that have met their demise during those foggy mornings.

Just offshore lies Anderson Island. This island has two main points of interest, the point on the east side is Gabriel Point, it has a lighthouse warning of the many rocks that sit below. To the west lies Hahn's Peak, a small mountain with more rocky shores that also houses another lighthouse.

The more distant island is Yondu Island. Not much is known about this place, legends say that the island is cursed. Many ships have disappeared offshore in plain sight. There are many shipwrecks beneath the waves, but there are still many more that have yet to be found, despite water radar and imagery. Ancient tribes that settled on the mainland have set explorers to the island only to have them never return. Some ancient settlers on Anderson Island have claimed they have seen apparitions on the beaches and cliffs of Yondu Island wandering around and looking over to Anderson Island.

I hope you enjoyed reading this description. These names are arbitrary besides Mount Adirondack, any names that coincide with reality are purely coincidental.

--PLEASE READ--

YOU MUST subscribe and/or enable the Network Extensions 2 mod OR YOU WILL HAVE NO HIGHWAYS.

Also subscribing to the Colorado Summer theme by me will present you the map as I intended.
Also subscribing to a nice LUT would improve the map as well, but I have no LUTs installed therefore, I'm mainly playing vanilla.
Have fun building!

Thank you for the kind words! I am a builder myself that loves to make sprawling cities. So I kept that in mind when I built this map. I can definitely agree with you on that!

Just started a new game in this map.
I really like the smart placement of highways and railways here. One of the things that make me dislike a map is the way that highways and intersections cut through the buildable area, rendering much of it useless (or forcing the player to spend money and time to fix them).
On this map, the highway is placed just right. Functional, yet not intrusive, and allowing for expansion/extension in any direction. The same can be said of the railway.
Also, the map is beautiful.
Great work. Thank you very much.
