(TEF) ARTEMIS A Guided Missile Corvette (modless)

Omschrijving
The Artemis A-class Guided Missile Corvette is a large grid warship with a decent amount of weapons, heavy armor plating, interplanetary usage and jump-capability. This ship is fully vanilla and survival ready

Author's note:
Here is my first large grid ship for my Terran Expeditionary Force. and my first ship with an onboard guided missile system, which is absolutely new terrain for me.

I wanted to build a guided missile corvette which works good so I build a small but effective missile system with Doctor Budgie, he helped me a lot! Around this missile system I build a ship with durable hull armor plating, anti-missile armor and a maximum of usability.

Data:
Artemis A

Key features:
  • Guided-Missile System- The ship is equipped with an onboard missile launching bay.
The missiles can be controlled manually from the ship and are most effective against light armored ships and stations.
  • Survival-ready- Pressurized rooms, Airlock, Cargo- and Oxygen-Storage, fully conveyered.
  • Anti-Missile Armor- The ship has additionel armor layers at the back and anti-missile cages at the windows, which can hold of the first missile hits effectively.
  • Durable Armor- The ship is build with a mixture of heavy and light armor to offer the right mixture of manouverability and protection.
  • Interplanetary Usage- The ship is able of flight and land in the atmosphere of a planet or a moon, to reach other planets quickly it has a jump drive installed.

Description:
As the first wormholes were discovered in 2230 in the Saturn Rings, the NASA and ESA space research socities sended a research fleet of 34 ships to investigate these mysterious abnormalities, 17 of these ships were science-vessels of the Ariane-class. Because of an navigational mistake 28 ships where pulled into one of the wormholes which transportet them to a completely uncharted region of space: „The Gatopea Expanse“. To survive the ships crews founded the TEF.

„We have only limited ressources, but we do our best!“

This was the quote of the TEF´s Design and Construction Team which has planned and constructed the first Artemis-Corvettes.

These ships were technically upgraded Ariane-class research vessels but the designers added weapons, atmospheric flight capability and modern systems. After the first vessels were converted into Artemis Corvettes a shipyard was constructed which was the first factory able of building these ships.
During many fighting engagements these ships became the standard missile frigates of the TEF.
The Artemis is primarily a second line support ship which gives the fleets capital ships fire support and missile protection. Because smaller attack vessels and fighters are capable to engage and harass even large capital ships, the role of the traditional corvette, serving as a nimble patrol- and escort vessel, had to be extended to more combat orientated vessels. The Artemis is capable of beeing an effective anti fighter ship which can wipe out nearly every fighter or gunboat.
But in his career in the TEF Navy the ship was used as support of landing operations, colonization of planets, trade, escort and much more. The ship is often operated by small TEF planetary bases which creates a defense grid for the planet.

The Artemis is very easy to maintain and repair and it can be operated by a small crew, allowing a cost-effective usage of the ship.
The Artemis operates on a combination of hydrogen and atmospheric thrusters. Despite carrying around 1,495 tons of weight, she is still pretty manuverable in her weight-class, while also providing a coverage of h armor-plating. The ship is strong enough to counter its own weight under 0.25G-conditions, allowing it to operate above non-atmospheric moon surfaces and planetary surfaces on 1.00G and above. The ship is very power efficient threw the use of hydrogen thrusters the ship can be powered by only one of the twelve installed nuclear reactors.

The Artemis packs quite a punch. The vessel is able to outgun and keep up with smaller gunboats, fighting other corvettes or frigates and offers enough firepower to engage and harass even larger ships. The main battery consists of three fixed forward mounted 200mm Rocket Launchers, combined with four 200mm Missile Turrets. Either controlled by AI or through the Gunnery seat, the turrets are intended to directly target and destroy key-compontents on enemy vessels, while the fixed battery and the guided missiles punches through the hull.

The Bridge features a small grid main information dish which displays everything the pilot need to know. The ship has one pilot seat and one co-pilot seat which can be used for controlling the turrets. The captain´s chair is placed in the middle of the bridge for having a good view at the situation.

The interiour is basic but fully pressurized rooms, personal storage, Cryo-Chambers and a Medstation provide the crew with everything they need to stay alive, but luxury is not the strong side of the TEF Navy especially not on small escort vessels.

The Artemis features also a top connector to carry a fighter or support craft. The landing pad can be reached very easy by the top airlock which also leads to the bridge. For planetary exploration the ship has also the ventral Airlock which is the easiest way to get out of the ship.

I hope you like this ship and if you have constructive critism write a comment.

Thank You!

Taz, If you build a ship in survival, subgrids connected with rotors are not buildable.

Is this ship in any "Encounters" mods? I swear I saw one earlier in my save.
